11:50 Strymon's Big Sky, Blue Sky, and Cloudburst pedals all have cloud and shimmer settings that sound like this. The Fender Tone Master Pro also has modeled reverb pedals (Cloud, Celestial, Nebula, and Shimmer) that function similarly
Always enjoy your playing and tone Paul. It is easy to struggle with getting the effects exactly how you want them, especially for beginners. I remember the band I was in wanted to do a EVH song. I learned it but could not get the phaser to sound anywhere close to Eddys sound. I was getting quite frustrated when I read an article that said Ed used his phase 90 before the amp. As soon as I removed the phaser from the effects loop to the beginning of the chain, I was 90% there. Little nuances can make a huge difference in sounds. My recommendation is Experiment, and watch tutorials, like this one. Good job.
love this sort of content Paul, it can be quite addictive when dialing in these sorts of things in a DAW, especially when you get to this super wide parallel bussing/stereo stuff, or even with two amps, sort of like emulating a crazy W/D/D/W configurations, lots of fun in any case
Really useful video, thanks! I'm just starting to play around with Bias FX2 and this helps as I had not really considered the impact of the low/high cut. Just used to dialing reverb in on the amp...life was so easy.
Great info and demo. Your rig sounds AMAZING all alone. The effects are like frosting on the cake. Because your rig is so clean with a very nice bite I was shocked when you kicked on the overdrive!!! I’m genuinely envious.
11:50 Poly Verbs is a pedal that does convolution reverb. It’s got IRs from some of the best churches and halls in the world. Plus, Lexicon 224 or 480l and a whole lot more.
This is great! Thank you! For live work I use Mr. Black Eterna Gold for a similar shimmer effect. It’s a much simpler interface but the quality is really great.
Great video. I use those exact plugins man. Something similar but different to the Valhalla Shimmer is the shimmer reverb in the Tim Henson plugin from Neural DSP. I sometimes turn off the entire plugin except that reverb and stick it at the end of my signal chain.
You can check M-Vave Mini Universe for those kind of reverbs and it costs almost nothing ;) and I have to agree that all Valhalla plugins sounds awsome and are free. Nice tutorial by the way
Nice! - CloudSeed algorithmic reverb VST plugin sounds Similar to Valhalla too. Always put it on keys - never thought of trying on guitar.. until now ;)
Paul - that was great and sounded fab. Sadly, I don't have that sort of gear but I go have a Strat and a Katana Gen 3 Head, so I challenge you to get that same lush tone only using that gear! Can you, will you????
The Valhalla reverbs sound a *bit* like the Strymon BigSky but thats horrible next to the new BigSky MX version. Also well worth a look (and a lot cheaper) is the Wampler Catacombs however I'm not sold on the DAC output stage and felt it was a little crumbly / powdery sounding, it could have been whatever gear it was demoed through though. Of course what you REALLY want is an Eventide pedal or rack processor ;o)
Have you tried Cirrus Reverb ..... I got it in a 2nd hand Kemper I bought as a software download, it is a mind blower .... Cirrus make pedals which I want to try out ... maybe you could review Cirrus ? ... and thanks for the great videos !
I once tried to use valhalla as part of my effect loop and bring the effect back into the amp via the output of the USB-audio interface. but the sound was nowhere near to what I got from using it on the DAW right at the master. valhalla's freq response does on the guitar signal from the pre-amp does not work like it does on the master(red) signal. valhalla in in pedal format would be THE killer product imo
can i request a lead tone with reverb and delay that kinda cuts through the mix lol, i'm in search of a good lead guitar tone for a while now, mainly cause i haven't been able to find one that sounds good enough, i have watch a few of your videos and listened. i heard every "dialing in guitar effects like a pro" video. and they sound quite good.
Sometimes I wish my pedals/modeller sounded as good as plugins. I have a GX100 and find the quality of the effects just so so. I bought a Golden Reverborator and the quality is so much better than the Boss reverbs in the GX. Perhaps I need to fiddle with the GX more.
@@TheStudioRats The Cirrus software on my Kemper seems to be stereo the reverb is so wide and reflective it is difficult to tell. Cirrus also has a freeze function. As for the pedal it looks like mono. On the Thomann site most of the sound samples are a bit to weird for me but the reverb seem ok.
Paul is the master of tone and 9ths
The TC Electronic Hall Of Fame 2 has a great shimmer and a great modulated reverb setting plus just about every other type of reverb 👍🤘
The Headrush has some great special verbs too.
Holy crap, that opening tone was simply beautiful!
Thanks from the midwest Paul!!
That Valhalla Shimmer is beautiful.
yeah its a great plug
Great vid! I always love hearing how guitarists get their tone.
Thanks!
love watching your videos, they always sound great, contain brill info and the playing is tasty as !!
Thank you kindly!

cheers fella
Great tutorial. Very helpful indeed. Thanks Paul!
Awesome video! Loved to hear "sweet disposition" when you showed how you set up your delays!

very well explained, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!

I like the way you hold the guitar and picking too! Amazing accuracy
Why does it always sound amazing when you are playing, Paul? 😉
Love it Paul! That guitar sounds wonderful!
11:50 Poly Verbs is a pedal that does convolution reverb. It’s got IRs from some of the best churches and halls in the world. Plus, Lexicon 224 or 480l and a whole lot more.
Excellent, Paul - like a trip down memory lane to when you were doing general production and mixing videos :)
So true!
Great video, Paul, as per usual!! Thanks a bunch from Canada! 🇨🇦🇬🇧
Videos like this increase the GAS for that wonderful guitar! 😍
cheers Greegor
Whats the name of that guitar?)
@ it’s a valiant, all the details are in the notes.
All excellent advice. And thanks for the Valhalla suggestion, I have a few of their plugins and they are great, this one too 👍🏼
Great tios and tricks as always!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👋🏼
Great video, educational and the chord progressions sound amazing. Great playing allows the effects to stand out…
Great tips! Cheers!
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips Paul, thanks!

I loved this video!! Congrats!!
Sounds amazing !
The Kemper modulated reverbs are pretty epic
The keeley Halo, get close to the shimmer but it is delay not reverb. But it’s worth a check..🤘
Very informative and helpful!
Love some shimmer, especially on acoustic. Hall of fame 2, I find, has a decent shimmer.
Thanks for this great video
Awesome info
Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Très intéressant, merci Paul.
Its been out for a while now, but the GFI Specular Tempus caneasily be toe to toe with Valhalla.
That shimmer reminds me of the shimmer setting on the Keeley Caverns pedal - to my amateur ears anyway...
Strymon pedals do those shimmer modulated sounds. The cloudburst is a bit more affordable than the bigger pedals.
Keeley Hydra Reverb and Tremolo has a shimmer reverb like that
What a fantastic video Paul have a great day also last night was my friend birthday November ❤😊 12
Hi Paul, EHX Oceans 11 has a beautiful shimmer that sounds similar to the Valhalla
Great video. I use those exact plugins man. Something similar but different to the Valhalla Shimmer is the shimmer reverb in the Tim Henson plugin from Neural DSP. I sometimes turn off the entire plugin except that reverb and stick it at the end of my signal chain.
cheers for the tip

Love it ! Can you make a patch for the boss katana please 🙏🏼
You always sound amazing (even if you play a broom 🤣) Thank you!
Nice! - CloudSeed algorithmic reverb VST plugin sounds Similar to Valhalla too. Always put it on keys - never thought of trying on guitar.. until now ;)
You should do a quick vid lesson on those lush chords! 👍
Have you tried an Eventide Black Hole pedal for modulated reverb?
Now dial it in like an amateur
I bet he can't 😂
Like i bet he couldn't even pretend to play like an amateur anymore lol
you should hear the outtakes!
I can show you how to do that. I'm a pro at it.
😂😂 hold my beer …🍺🍻
@ Haha post them!! It would honestly be pretty interesting to see you dialing this in.
Nice one
Have you tried the Boss RV-6 or the Strymon Cloudburst?
Paul - that was great and sounded fab. Sadly, I don't have that sort of gear but I go have a Strat and a Katana Gen 3 Head, so I challenge you to get that same lush tone only using that gear! Can you, will you????

Thanks Paul - great stuff. I’m sure you have heard of the Strymon Cloudburst.? To my ears it sounds a lot like the Valhalla.
I’ve heard of it but haven’t tried it, cheers for the tip!
Sounds great Paul, if you wanna try out my cloudburst pedal let us know. Sounds incredible for the verbs.

I use the MXR Carbon Copy. It's a pretty simple pedal.

Could you do this for a rhythm tone, please? Great video as always.
This is my basic goto everything. lead rhythm etc
The JET Revelation reverb is the closest to the Valhalla shimmer plug in.
That guitar sounds lush.
The amp isn’t shabby too
Appreciate the info Paul, that shimmer pulled my heart strings more than Megan Fox in a bikini.......well nearly.
Any chance you can do this with a mono reverb? I've always struggled to make mono reverb sound good.
Paul just dialed up more reverb than God.
What overdrive pedal did you use?
Very similar to my Keeley Caverns reverb…to my ears at least
sus chords sound so good
Keeley caverns has shimmer
full title ... KMA Audio Machines Cirrus Delay and Reverb
Isn’t that a mono delay

Why Valiant sells guitar at $2500 starting point? Is it insane?
It's not insane if people buy them, which clearly they do
If you use my discount code you are not paying 2.5, also it’s still half the price of a fender custom shop for the same quality
Delay no reverb, here notes better.😊
The secret sauce formula for the plebes…😊
