I always enjoy your demos. Mostly because of your great playing and tone but also because you seem to only review gear that is actually useful. This amp sounds amazing and at that level it’s crazy good. Brilliant!
I played that amp at guitar summit and it's trully amazing! it sounds otherwordly and feels the same. Benjamin the maker and designer of AMS amplification is also a very interesting builder.
Love it! That fat switch is its secret weapon! The single coils really sound great, and the humbuckers sound great also. Because is sounds so good at low volumes yet it has 50 watts, you could easily gig with it. This one amp does it all!.
Perfect small club amp. Always hated playing small clubs and not being able to turn my amp up to get a reasonable sound. Although there are modern amps that do that better, it never seems perfect. Would love to be in the room and actually hear this amp. You bring us some interesting stuff Paul. Good job.
Sounds awesome and I really appreciate an amp with a good master volume. Pretty much sold off my amps that couldn't do reasonable house volumes without an attenuator. I also bought a clear sonic shield to sit in front of one of my amps and it really helps with the beaming and perceived volume. On top of room treatment for reflections, I'd recommend those too
Beautiful amp! But… as many of us tube amp aficionados own some kind of high-end attenuator/loadbox type of gizmo (Waza TAE, Fryette PS,…), getting a massive amp tone from our 50-100 watters at whisper levels isn’t really an issue anymore, is it? Still, beautiful amp. As for the comments on the price: I think it’s really competitively priced at €2600 - well below what a comparable Friedman or Suhr would set you back. Oh forgot to mention: incredible playing, Paul 👌
I've got an Egnater modded 800 and to achieve that tone, pain threshold is reached. When I track it (rarely), the cabinet goes in the hallway. Appreciate what you do 👍🏻
@@neilkorsgaard of course. My Little 20 can easilly handle a Drummer and a loud guitarist 😅. Its cleans up with my guitar’s volume pot and the power saturation sounds phenomenal too
How do these expensive amp makers stay in business? Who the hell is buying enough of these expensive amps especially at a time when there are fewer gigs and less and less players using amps.
@@emcg.9655 Working musicians don't guy any of these. Its the hobbyist lawyer/doctor/CEO who buy the super expensive gear along with a few millionaire rockstars
Same here... I can think of a few sets of circumstances where it would be, if not uber profitable, at least enough to stay in business. But still, it can't be getting easier for them, considering, among other things, the point you are making, for instance.
Thanks Paul; interesting. Have AmS integrated a reactive load circuit much like Revv do with their D20? Just curious to know the alchemy these genius designers used to deliver that amazing tone. Appreciate you; Rats Rock!
I get very similar results with friedmans. From my experience they are the best for bedroom volumes but i haven’t played these AMS amps. Now I’m very curious tho.
Cool amp. Here is what you need to do. Try a Friedman smallbox 50 and Freidman JEL 50. The smallbox is plexi heaven on ch1 and BE on CH2. This was my favorite amp until the jel came out. Im not a huge fan of the BE sound. The JEL50 is however that same heavenly plexi sound paired with an outstanding 800 /modded 800 sound. The two channels are perfectly matched with one of the the best master volumes in the game.
Wow really cool . I got s/hand jackson ampworks newcastle mk2 That does the same . I got atlantic 4.0 too, but newcastle with knob low watts, but it sounds big . Your amp sounds nice . Atlantic through Fayette power station. That unit works well, too its 3 in one unit poweramp attention in watts Dummy load. Rec out and more . And got more bluguitar mercurys 1. Great video, amazing playing amazing amp! Please when trying amps than can do high gain play some hard/metal riffs to show that side too, you have great chops to do it justice 😬
You don't see those ridiculous expensive jeans with holes in the knee and torn thighs anymore. They were a highly affected fashion oddity thatsucked in the impressionable unimaginative few for a couple of years. Usually priced beyond well finished clothes, and a momentry insane trend that took in the superficial posers for a while. Hopefully most stupid people bought all the examples available, and the moment passed. Not being based on real world use, most were, thankfully, sold to people who liked to pretend they had an old classic guitar, but didn't have the patience to achieve the look with reality. Just my opinion. These will be a flash in the pan that will pass in a year ir two.
It does sound a great marshallesque amp! WOW! Would like to know it's topology. The cost in Oz. TSL60 can do it too at the bargain of a discredited amp model thanks to the early models defective boards of the TSL 100
Sounds great! I know you’re playing a 50W, not sure if you got a chance to play their 20W, but I like to run my amps fully clean or just an edge of breakup, and then use pedals. Do you think there is enough clean headroom on these? Especially with the 20W if you got to play one?
What makes this whisper volumes? Are you running this through an OX? So what's the difference between any other amp running through that? You can have bedroom volumes with anything

Great amp but you weren't doing it any favors by sticking with your single coil Tele for most of the video. 800s are for metal and they're best suited with your Les Paul or a humbucker loaded super strat. Great playing though and still enjoyed the video.

That amp sounds amazing. Thanks for such a detailed review with multiple guitars!
Cheers Mark
I play in a band, but really love playing at home. Great tones at low volumes are where it's at for me.
Getting true Marshall tone at bedroom volume levels is the true holy grail .
Really interesting. That’s very much Paul.
I’ve wanted a solution like this for ever.

My Friedman also sounds like that at bedroom volumes.

Is this amp available in the states?
Not yet . Just direct selling .
Sounds nice, I would fancy a smaller one, would the “little legend” 20w version have similar benefits (just plexi channel) ?
Yes , just the channel 1 😉
Nice review and playing as usual. Quick question - what speaker do you have in that AMS cab? It paired quite nicely with the amp.
Mojotone bv30v
I made a passive homemade attenuator which allows me to play my amps like this the tubes wide open yet the room volume is very low
