  • I'm a huge fan of the German brand, Sinn. I had the opportunity to pick up their new 2020 release, the Sinn 556i RS, from a Canadian AD.
Check out the website for the AD I purchased from: J'Vair Jewellers (www.jvairanderson.com/designe...)

This will probably be an unpopular opinion but that Sinn looks better than that Rolex Explorer you're rockin. That said congrats on acquiring a grail watch you wanted!

Congrats on the grail watch, and restocking on a Sinn. Keep up the great content. I recently made my own Sinn purchase. The 556 I M … loving the mocha dial. What I really like about the I M is it’s dressy enough to wear with a suit but still retains a robust aesthetic.

Congrats on getting you Explorer! I love my 556a, it is probably my favorite watch of my collection. The red seconds model looks very good on the 556i, I do prefer however having the arabic numbers... just personal preference, other than that they’re basically the same watch.

Really love Sinn and particularly this model. I love how simple and monochromatic this watch is. Can't decide if it's better with the white seconds hand or the red, they both bring something a little different to the table.

Noticed the clasp looks off center when your turn your wrist upside down. If you swapped a link from the 6 o clock side to the 12 o clock side it would center the clasp on the underside of your wrist and balance it better, no?

Hello, this is Ken from New York City.
I've enjoyed your review of the Sinn 556i RS, as well as your earlier review of the Damasko DA 38. Both reviews provided focused and consise information on each watch as well as your personal feelings associated with each piece.
Since both have similar characteristics as quality, cost effective, and durable watches, which one provides more owner satisfaction and why. I am primarily interested in timing accuracy, enjoyment of Sinn metal bracelet versus Damasko strap and which watch you enjoy wearing more. I also own the Rolex Explorer 214270.
    Thanks,
    Ken
Keep up the good work and thanks.

Do you think the RS version is a noticeably sportier than the regular 556i? I am considering both but I need it to wear it with suits, thought maybe the RS is a little less formal with the red second hand. Fun marketing stuff, RS is clearly a nod to the sports car denotation (English: rally sport or racing sport; German: Rennsport) indicating a higher level of sportiness, but here it also can also stand for Red Seconds (or in German, rote Sekunde).

    • @EverydayWatchGuy
      @EverydayWatchGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for your insight 👍. I think you can still pull off the RS with a suit. It can be paired with a nice leather strap to dress it up more.

They need to use the slimmer selita movement. the watch thickness needs to be 10mm or below. bracelet needs to be a tiny bit thinner, and taper down an additional 2mm. the clasp is too bulky. they need a more slim clasp. that would make this watch much more appealing. agreed on the longer seconds hand. disagree with the double indices at 12. maybe the singular one could be a little thicker to give the orientation?

Hi! Was not expecting that you'd reply, but really appreciate it. I'm currently looking for a watch that is very legible with a clean dial (preferably white markings on a black dial, and I don't mind a very minimal date window). This, the Stowa, and the Bell & Ross BR V1-92 were the ones that I really like. Have a 6-6.25in wrist btw and out of these three, which would you recommend in terms of wrist size and bang for buck?
Have encountered these comments so far:
      Sinn 556 - short hands
Stowa - tends to look slightly larger on the wrist
B&R - price is high for a modified sw movement

I’ve lost 10’s of thousands on them, where as one may buy a car and keep it for 10 years and spend the same on watches , what’s the difference?

I've learned over time with watches that you'll always see another watch you want. That will never stop. At some point, you can't buy a watch without selling one first. At some point you will have too many to wear and you won't feel good about having them if you can wear them. This being true, what sets apart a watch from all the rest? To me it's accuracy. If it isn't Rolex accurate (-2/+2 per day) then it isn't good enough. So I look at this Sinn 556 RS and I want it, but does it meet my accuracy test? If not I won't get it. A smaller collection is best.

Do not underestimate ETA 2824. My experience with ETA 2824 top grade is that it is more accurate than my Omega master chronometer movement. Also ETA 2824 is one of the most well-tested movement in watchmaking history.

Sadly 5 bar doesn't mean you can dive to a depth of 50 metres, but that it is merely splash resistant. And the Hamilton's lack of AR coating means it's a glare monster, and no comparison to the clarity and legibility of the Sinn...
