This game is a 10 when it released in 1989. Great graphics no slowdown, perfect controls, good music, good sound effects, and a good balance difficulty.
Love this game, stuff blows up nicely, some of the best visuals, awesome tracks, and at times more crap on screen than you can shake a stick at. It's funny, I used to be able to beat this in one sitting with maybe 2 or 3 ships...Now I can't get past the 6th stage. I should note that I don't recall getting through the first stage on this diff. level... Bravo.
Google's compression for TH-cam seems to have kind of messed with the frames and color recognition. Oh well. Looks like a great shoot em' up. I definitely am enjoying some of this music it offers.
I USE TO OPEN DEBUG MODE. FIRST YOU MUST HOLD SELECT WITH RAPIDLY PRESS LEFT AND RIGHT AS MANY AS YOU CAN. THEN YOU PRESS I AND II. THEN PRESS I THEN RAPIDLY PRESS SELECT UNTIL THE SCREEN 1 APPEARS. THEN HOLD I AND II WITH PRESSING START TO BEGIN WITH STORY MODE. THANKS!!!
THIRD IS MY SCORE 12,738,010. LAST SPECIAL POWER SHIELD AND LAST WEAPON IS MULTI GUN. I SUPPOSE TO USE IT'S UP TO WAVE. I ALSO UNDEFEATED BOSS FIGHTS AND FINALE BOSS. I'M SO UNEXPECTED TO PLAY LIKE THAT!!! YEHHEY!!! WELL DONE MYSELF!!!
I think I actually prefer this game over its spiritual successor, Space Megaforce on the SNES (aka Aleste on SFC). The Hudson/Compile team-up here really produced a gem of a game.
I WAS PLAYED BLAZING LAZERS AS GUNHED, MY SCORE IS 12,738,010. I HAVE 8 DEATHS, 68 LAST LIVES, 0 BOMBS LEFT, TOP TURBO SPEED. I AM CONGRATULATE MYSELF BECAUSE I BEAT 3 TIMES. ONE IS 11,098,620. TWO IS 12,877,000. CONGRATS!!!
It's interesting the compromises done to fit the PC Engine limited amount of sound channels. There are voices which is rare on hucard games but on other hand no weapon sound, and it seems that to get higher than usual quality music they had to reduce as much as possible the explosion sound quality which sounds quite bad admittedly. Anyway good game but I tend to prefer Super Star Soldier which has better pace.
This is like blazing lazers on PC Engine. EDIT: TRV thank you, I have noticed it and I apologize. Now I know that both names are equal for the same game. It is amazing!
@@waltersobchak7275 man, you really need to research before comment, the previous user already said this, Gunhed, is the original title for the Japanese release, the developers/publishers changed the name to Blazing Lazers, for the outside of Japan release

A game that still looks great after all these years.. Nicely done on god of game mode - you made it look a lot easier than it is.
Gunhed is so excellent. 1989 Compile Pcengine masterpiece. Great playthrough!
Maybe the best vertical shooter released in 1989. Still looks and plays well to this day.
Aleste 2
BLAZING LAZER! BEST PCE COMPILE V-SHOOTER! BEST SOUND!(^^)/

The Turbo Grafx / PC Engine had some of the best shooters of all time. 👍
A great game. Flawless victory! Outstanding! 👍

My favorite shooter.
I would love to see someone legitimately beat this game(no TAS) with the 1 power up and the F option!
That would be crazy, it is so hard to use.
Probably one of the best movie-licensed games ever. lol
Even though it has nothing to do with the movie.

..........oh its Blazing Lazers, cool. Took me a few minutes to figure out why the music sounded familiar.
One of the few good license games
Intro it's love, and the game are awesome.

looks like a fun game
***** This game is a tie-in to the movie, though it takes place in a different setting than the movie
Strike n blast off the true evil.

Are you high??
I cleared 13 million and I wasn’t even trying for score (nor am I particularly good at this game) LOL
I USE TO CHEAT TO UNLOCK STORY MODE FROM AREA 0 UP TO 9 WITH 10 BOMBS AND 10 GOLDEN LIVES.
i love the best
So... the only link to the manga and movie is the title font?

Wait , the music is the same as Blazing Lazers ? Did they recycle music between the games back in the day ?
Clsx Alghazanth just use different name, anything are just same

@@xinistri hey this is just like blazing blazers on Turbografx 16!! This game must have copied that.

Reminds me Super Aleste...
Super Aleste was a spiritual sequel to Gunhed, it was developed by the same team at Compile. Both absolute classics.
A very easy shmup
bullet hell
lol! This has nothing whatsoever to do with GUNHED though...
But dis is blazing lasers
The sound is horrible.
buy another set of speakers then.
