Old school skill shown right there. If you've spent many hours playing this game you really appreciate this magical player. His timing is incredible when there is so little room for manouver.
Idk if this is an actual human playing this......also if you look at the monsters at the end of each respective level in this game they aren’t moving as much as in the real game. That first end level monster for example is just going up and down and no swooping movements on top of the knight.. I have a retro gaming system without joystick and I can’t even pass that first demon because of the side to side and up and down movement of the monster. Almost impossible without a real joystick also.
yes they were. i finished it when i was a teenager in the 80s but when it started from the beginning ,i left the arcade's hall before i burn the machine.
What I find strange is the end boss is alot easier than the 2x dragons in the immediate stage before. I've got to the 2x dragons & that's it. The best I've done is killed one dragon but that is with the dagger. You can only get past the 2x dragons if you kill them with the shield/cross, which has limited range (but destroys their star bullets)
It's a staple of the series. You always have to go back to the beginning in order to collect the holy weapon. And If you change it just before the final boss you won't be admitted to the battle and will have to go back again...
This game was a work of art for it's time. The graphics were beautiful, the way the coins etc change colours to show metalicity. The gameplay was challenging and complex and the musical score was simply wonderful.
My parents probably could have sent me to college with all the quarters I spent playing this game. Absolutely magical though. Could almost smell the round table pizza where this arcade game was located while watching this game play. I haven't seen this game played better - and I've been around a long time. I remember this bitch of a game in the arcades. Complete mastery of enemy movement, collision boxes and the timing on that rapid fire in tight spaces is astounding. Bravo.
back in the late 80s my near on whole school in australia would be waiting out side the local fish and chip shop waiting to play ghost and goblins, loved it.... still have it on my ps4 and play it evey now and then.
Way to go! My brother and me never made it to the final boss, probably cuz, of course accidentally getting fireballs. We both loved the knives since so fast. Also we sneaked up. My brother has gone and passed. Was still awesome to see. Thank you❤
Imagine a 14 year old me, at the movie theater, after sore thumbs and frustrating nights playing the NES version to discover....... THE ARCADE VERSION EXISTED!!! I yelled, gritted my teeth, not because I was happy to see it. No.... I was enraged at how hard the NES version was. I yelled AS LOUD AS I COULD every time I shot an enemy. The theater staff thought someone got robbed. I growled, I yelled, I shouted out of pure, unadulterated frustration and RAGE because this game was so hard in 1987. Good job man. Good job.

Learnt a lot about this game ! A weapon that is effectless and forces you to get back and on top of that, being obliged to play it twice in row in order to really beat the machine !!! Unbelievable ! Thanks a lot !
Inhuman skills demonstrated here, horraahh!! 🤯👍 This game was ridiculously tough... no doubt one of the most difficult arcade games at the time: those bleeding erratic red gargoyles always messed it up, but then the early bosses become regular enemies on the later maps - ouch - and the ultimate kicker is having to beat the game twice - double ouch!! Spent countless hours with this game in the arcade and remember having beaten it exactly once (took hours, not half an hour), whether it was the arcade or one of the ported versions. The Knight must be valiant indeed, two small errors and you're done. The helmet off and arms in the air after each level is most warranted. Great atmosphere, fantasy retrogame at its highest - keep up the real gaming, Master Pro! 🐸🙋♂
This was one of my favorite games at the arcade. I was okay at it, but never quite finished. I picked up the recent modern remake of this game. It looked amazing, but was ridiculously difficult. Easily the hardest game I ever played. Even on the easiest setting I sucked. It amazes me that there are people out there who finished it.

Would have played this as an 11 year old while on holiday, but haven't given it a second thought in the intervening 40 years. Then I saw the thumbnail and was taken back immediately.
The games of the past were more difficult, first of all because they were designed for arcades (coin up) and so the goal was to get you to spend as much money as possible. How much money I spent between 1979 and 1983. With 5000 lira I used to make a hundred games. 🙂

Unbelievable! I never knew the game designers were so brutal to make you repeat the whole game over to reach the ending. It’s hard enough as it is!!!!
Thank God subsequent games in the franchise, even while keeping the difficulty, added new stuff to the mix like extra armor, the double jump and more.
