    Hobbyist here, I’m somewhat sadly encouraged that I’m not the only person wasting money and time on horrible “Chrome” powders. Please update if you ever come across something a little more chrome appearance for people with normal vision!
    Thanks Again

    Prismatic Super Chrome + is by far the best Chrome on the market.Its very bright even after the clear.

    I hate chrome too lol No matter what chrome, every time, the clear ruins it imo. I always explain it to the customer and show them a sample.

    Have you tried the metal filled filler like JB Weld as filler on heavily pitted parts to smooth for coating?

    • @miketlane
      @miketlane ปีที่แล้ว

      The 400 degree oven for 20 min would probly make JB weld crumble

    One thing I'm not understanding, once you spray the chrome, do you bake the chrome on and then do the clear? Or should the clear be sprayed on before any baking?

      The chrome has to be at least partially cured. The clear protects the chrome so you want the chrome to flow out first. I am a beginner and have only shot candy over chrome and haven't tried clear yet, but have read enough and watched enough videos to answer the question......of course there is always someone who can get away with doing things different than most.

    Still has a milky look but not as milky as prismatic. Can't expect an equal between powder and real nickel chrome though. The only chrome I'll do from now on is under a color. Thankfully I'm more of a hobbyist with powder. I try to stick to my profession of weld/fabrication and leave the powder to the pros

    Don't you coat over old powder? We don't ever strip stuff but the stuff ur doing there seems to need to be pretty flawless is why u would strip it? If there was a wrong color situation, u wouldn't just spray the right color over it?

  • @stevenmitchell6347
    @stevenmitchell6347 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I can't help but notice the massive amount of powder going straight to the filters. Looks like you are using at least twice the pressure I use. I'm usually around 4psi to 6psi and it's a full load with only about 10% or so lost to the filter. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. VEVOR pot system with fluidizer.

      We adjust out air settings all the time. We were high here. But if we want to paint fast we will crank them, paint slow or detailed lower them. What costs more labor or powder waste? No one right way or wrong way.

      I’m not them but I run it through the whole strip process. Dip in the stripper then blast it. Also u can clean the hook after you sprayed powder before you pop it in the oven to help keep it clean.

    • @RightNowPowderCoating
      @RightNowPowderCoating  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We strip them in our Greensolv tank, they come out really clean and really no rust, so we rinse and use them. No longer have to blast like with b17 and rim strip.

    • @CGT80
      @CGT80 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I kind of agree, and think you have to look at the big picture of a project. If there is real chrome nearby, forget PC chrome, but if you just want something shiny and silver it is OK. I haven't cleared over chrome yet, just used it under candy powders. Ultimate Chrome looks decent on it's own but still not as clear as real chrome. I wonder how the chrome compares to the silver colors out there, which I also haven't used as I am just a beginner. Maybe a solid or metallic silver would look better for contrast even if it isn't close to real chrome. Silver wheels look like they were meant to be that way vs. a sorry attempt at a real chrome look.
