Can you do a video about going from a Gema to the Electron? I'm really leaning toward getting one from you, and I'm coming from an optiflex 2b. A video like that could really help ease minds about making a change from the paradigm of Gema being the best out there. Just a thought. Thanks for all the help, man. You're my go-to guy.
I LOVE Eaton Compressor. I had a pump issue and the OWNER of the company brought me a new one THE NEXT DAY, in his personal vehicle and he installed it HIMSELF. GREAT GUY! Turns out his brother owns Bad Boy Blasters and I've got one of his blast cabinets too. Small world but you're in good hands with Eaton. Customer for life. (Also, you've been really helpful too. Much appreciation. You already know the rest of that conversation. Gema nightmares). 🤘🏼
I run my Vevor system to save the powder because I'm disabled and do this as a side gig and don't have a lot of work. Sometimes only a couple of jobs per week so powder is a big expense and every bit that hits the filters and floor is money down the drain. It would be great to have enough work that the wasted powder is the least of my worries! At my age and physical condition, I'll always be a small operation so I concentrate on quality, not quantity and the idea of even one employee makes me laugh! 😆 Keep up the videos because I do learn a lot. Thanks!
I was the same way when I was doing one off parts, infact I try to crank it down for that stuff cause that powder is expensive. Our blacks are under 5 a pound so we go for speed, helps that we are spraying 1000's of parts too. Keep at it!
I have to paint fast on a huge production line, so my hand movements are way above recommended speed. When i point gun up and paint there, then down with pulling fast left right, but there gun is dripping a lot of powder in a form of junks or clouds, almost as if the powder built up inside gun tip spreader while pointing up. This are man size ventilation grills about 1 inch deep and cross blades spacing about 1/3 inch. I have 1 minute to paint.
I had a very similar problem with my old big blue compressor... Piston house shattered to pieces. Salvaged the tank and now it's a receiver from the replacement rotary compressor.
Hi. Thanka for all the info. Awesome stuff. I have one is sure with one of my projects. Aluminum profile. I run smooth Matt black but has orange peel effects. What could cause this?
I go 60, 5.0, 4.0 and 3.5. I do switchboard cabinets. Fast, smooth, repetitive.hand process and you might be surprised what you can do once you get a view of the static v shape of the charge. Move fast enought to keep your cloud down. I'm no artist, but my switchboards are durable with 100+ micron coat in one pass.
so im starting a powder coating business and ill be running a 12x12x26 oven and booth but for air im thinking of going with Ingersoll Rand 15.hp 120 gal tank 50cfm with air dryer. Do you think it will do the job
Hozit man I would love to see you get hold of a harbour freight Powder coating gun and give your feedback on this because that's all I have for now but growing as I'm going to get a nice adjustable one for bigger jobs as the money comes in thanks for all the tips and tricks keep up to help us newbies out there thumbs up from SA 🙏
I sprayed one once, it was bad, really bad. If you are doing work with it then you are already ahead of where I was. Try and keep the cloud as soft as you can so it has time to pick up the weak charge that gun puts out. Im working with a company now who says they have the best gun on the market, beating Gema, Nordson, and Wagner, Ill be testing it soon and if they are right this will be a game changer as its half the cost. It would make for a great entry level pro gun at that cost if their claims are true, stay tuned its coming soon!
@@RightNowPowderCoating hi, new guy here looking to get into powdercoating. Great video. What's your thoughts on that new brand of gun you mentioned coming out? Did you get your hands on it, and if so, was it as good as they claimed. I'm retiring soon and don't want to buy a beginners level gun/system. I've been looking at the Hypersmooth and kool koat systems. I feel like if I spend a few grand on a mid-range system, I should be good for a good few years.
@@RightNowPowderCoating yes, I’m having issues with the cure in between and weather or not u can stop half way through and come back to it . Getting mixed results
@@michaelcuttwood4270 You need to read the tds for sure, depends on the colors you are using. Chrome for example has to be a full cure. We have goo results with partial cures most times. For example I would do 10 to 15 mins in the oven on the primer, lay the next color another 10 mins, next color 10 mins, and then top coat clear for full cure.
Let me know what other quick tips you want me to cover, goal is more video's. lots more, like 3 a week so I need help!

can you explain about where to start first. Corners? inside corners? and then the flat areas?

Welcome!
I would love to see a video on adjusting kv vs ua. What to adjust on certain issues

I'm disabled and doing it for a side gig also. We should hook up and get a little shop, where you be at?
thanks so much, after a year still learning with my Gema
Happy to help!
Are you using the 25hp Eaton for sandblasting too?

Thank for all the info it was very helpful
Im always having trouble doing 2nd coats. What would you suggest is the best settings?
Is there a training manual for this unit available ??? That would be a big help for me. Great job buy the way.
I run an old gema system in new zealand. I tend to run it down low I find it's easier to control having a nice surface finish
I would agree with that! Makes it easier to control the mils!
Could be the blasted profile but also could be too much ua or kv, or amount of powder, or distant from part you are spraying.....so many things.
You still got that compressor and motor?
Thanks for sharing! Very helpful🙂🙏
Thanks man, great video.
Glad you liked it!
What about where u run kvs and Micro amps
Hey man ✌🏽
Was wondering if you have any tips on applying candy colours and gun settings?
Awesome channel!
Bring that air down and make sure its an even coat or it will change colors on the thicker parts. Candy's are rough!
I go 60, 5.0, 4.0 and 3.5.
I do switchboard cabinets.

How has that air compressor been working out for you?

Should, powder guns done need much for cfm. Blasting though....thats another story
I have a lot of back feeding what would cause that? I feel like I’m losing a lot of powder out of the bag.
GOOD KNOWLEDGE BRO
hey Dan, are you still selling the corona rings for the Gema
How do you maintain a good ground on your cart full of parts, without getting it covered and cured powder?
Great question, Ill do a video on it!
Tin foil works great on racks
Great Vid. Thanks

@rightnowpowdercoating what’s the entry cost for the Electron ?
Gracias 🙏 💪🏼
Can u do a video on doing a primer , two base colors and clear, as far as kv and when to fully cure and when to partially cure
Like a 2 tone wheel over primer with clear?

Always good info Dan. 👍
thank you
Why ionization happens all the time we coat recoat eventhough we reduce micro amps and sometimes powder doesnt stick to the profiles
Do you have an air regulator before the gema machine or air line direct into it?
There is a regulator right before the machine.
What powder system do you have
Gema Opti Pro
Hi where are you located
Central Iowa
Can someone like me who isnt a professional buy genma guns ?
