Locking high-tier components/loot behind a PvP zone is short-sighted... this is due to the fact that PvP can take place ANYWHERE in the system. With this in mind, any player, including those who dont focus on PvP, should have access to the same components as someone who can attack them without the non-PvP player being able to opt out of PvP.
A long time ago it was intended for our hangars to be our actual home destination, but with the progress of development that got changed to Habs with the launch of the PU and port Olisar. Obviously they needed us to test the transit and everything so maybe that's why the Hab apartments became the default for so long. Pretty sure they still intend to give us some sort of Hab within the instanced hangar but outside of that home location we will probably still get spawned in Habs within cities and stations until there is the option in game to purchase hangars outside of your starting location.
I think you’re right.. it was always intended for us to spawn in hangars a long time ago. The downside was that if you forgot to purchase ammo or supplies, you’d have to go back to the stores during the hab spawning phases 😩
If my Star Citizen account went up in value by $1 for every time that I traveled to my hanger from my hair and then logged off because I was already bored of playing I'd probably have an executive 600 by now
It's not genius, they can't get their code right and it was just easier to give people access directly to the hangar instead of spending more time to bug find and fix the current issues with elevators. It's bad in the long run, but fine for now.
Why do you think it's bad in the long run? For me personally, it saves me 15 minutes from running to my hanger. I kinda like that, and it saves me a huge chunk of game session time. Assuming I have everything I already need from shops like supplies. Also, I didn't know it was an alternative for a work around on elevators not working.. that actually makes a lot of sense, especially with each player on the server clicking elevator buttons and spamming the backend que
no. You never optimize your code when the game is not finished. That is a cardinal sin in programming. It causes rigidity in the system. Optimization is always done in the end.
@@Xander_Kai It's a two-fold fix: one, it lessens stress on transit and it lessens the impact on the infinite loading that was occurring when the habs were full and the shard couldn't find a place to load poeple into a loading zone. As 404 mentioned, this is a temporary workaround until they get the transit and ATC refactors in. Once those are done and the persistent habs and base building is in, they will likely remove hangar spawning.
To answer directly, it would be a huge waste of their talent if spawning in hangar was a permanent thing. The amount of hours they spent on designing each of the major cities and the details they put in place would have been moot if players were to simply spawn in their hangars and not see what the planet has to offer. They initially created these landing zones to give players a sense of scale and beauty, but unfortunately due to the amount of bugs that are present, this turned into a game breaking problem. So I believe its bad in the long run because this was never the intention for their planet design. Each planet is supposed to have a lot of NPCs which would serve as intermittent mission givers. Ie. Shop keeper sending a mission to get their stock replenished etc or please go deliver an item or 2 to another NPC. CIG have previously said that a player would spend days within one of these cities and not have to leave the planet as there are meant to be a lot to do. So forcing players to spawn in the hangar as a permanent feature would be counter intuitive to what they've been working on. Who knows what CIG would do in the future, but for now, allowing players to spawn in the hangars directly would alleviate a lot of issues and I'm all for it, but it is a Band-Aid fix. I do believe that these big cities are places that we should all spend time in exploring, and that it should take some time to go from our spawn to the StarPort.
You didn’t mention (yet) that you only spawn in your hangar in your home location. So when you log in you’ll need to go back to the city, get all your stuff, then go back to your hangar before taking off.
Nothing i know for certain, but from the leaks, there are 5 different rewards from the executive quest chain i think? components/weapons and loadouts.. F7A MKII, F8C, Corsair, Cutty Black & Syulen
Pretty sure they spawn us in hangers because elevators and trams are broken. If they were trying to save us wasted game tine they wouldnt be nerfing quantum fuel distances and tines. Good comentary though thanks
I don’t think the “greifing” will be bad at all. Stanton already basically has no consequences for killing other players. While at first I think people will enjoy the novelty, it will wear off. You also just need to be smart, if you’re not looking for combat, stealth out your ship. Contested zones seem like a great idea, but I’m glad I’m in a big org that’s going to be organizing to take them on nightly for the first month or so.
Yeah, that's the impression my org mates have, too. The novelty of Pyro will eventually wear off after a month or two, and everyone will be cool and chill as long as you're smart about moving around.
Any experience with MMOs and online gaming should tell you that griefing never goes away unless there are measures in place to stop it. Some players will always kill others on sight, just for the lulz or boredom. It will never wear off. Full loot PVP MMOs die pretty much every time. Unless they can function with a small player base with low overhead, which CIG does not. They desperately need measures to bring consequences to random killings.
I don’t like that meta gear is being only obtainable in a pvp , fps , game mode design for large groups . Key word is only obtainable I hope they had more ways to get the best in slot gear .
They already mentioned you will be able to unlock high-end gear through rep missions. This is being done to improve engagement with the contested zones. If you don't have a good reason to go to the contested zone, most people won't.

This is CIG’s next big step, personally I hope they take their time getting it stable and do some QoL bug squashing.
What bugs, they are all intended features 🤡

I thought it was because the server meshing overwhelmed the spawn points, causing people to get stuck in beds?

They will push it this week

With the new restock costs, is insurance fraud a better idea than actually paying for it?
PvP skins wouldn't be bad if there are PvE skins for getting reputation with factions.
I thought hanger spawning was just a temp feature / fix for elevantors and transit not working in 4.0
Any more news on executive hangers?

Who cares about hanger spawn... know one cares that if you dc you spawn right back to the spot you dc and not home base Habs lol
What tier patreon gets me a one on one date with Xander?
The game needs more pvp more fighting and more player interaction in general, the AI is awful so they either let us fight each-other or fix the AI.
You clearly haven’t played 4.0
does your title imply you post dishonest thoughts as well?

With hangar spawns we are skipping allot of game, if we want to skip the game, ,why we care about playing the game?
Elevator gameplay. The most important
What game play besides running and taking elevators does this skip?
Are you saying that you think riding elevators and trains to be the core gameplay that backers want?
@ I believe some YT accounts are made to mob the development of the game.
Nice try Robert nobody is falling for your bs reasons anymore
Why speak on CZ's and make a video without actually going to one? Lazy shit bro
I don’t like that meta gear is being only obtainable in a pvp , fps , game mode design for large groups . Key word is only obtainable I hope they had more ways to get the best in slot gear .
I totally understand that point of view. Hopefully, CIG has thought of alternative ways of acquiring these meta ship components
They already mentioned you will be able to unlock high-end gear through rep missions. This is being done to improve engagement with the contested zones. If you don't have a good reason to go to the contested zone, most people won't.
I fully completed CZ's solo. Went on a 28-0 kill streak lol
@ that’s awesome ya I like fps and PvP that why I Tarkove I just have a lot of friends that hate PvP
Bull!
