hmmm 2 size 5s seems more for deealing with other heavy fighters and the smaller missiles for smaller fighters, however its body hp is actually lower than the f8c, remember currently parts have HP that can be destroyed, having 1 s2 also means less shields, so total hp can be higher but that matters little when your body has 300 hp or so less than the f8 which means a quick kill.
Well I am glad I was wrong. Looks great inside. Definitely melting my inferno even though this does not get very great weapon DPS, it at least has an interior.
Inside the cockpit we have a top panel that comes down. That panel should be able to be closed manually if the pilot wants it. Because it turns out, it blocks the view...
Comparing Apples to Pears. F8C is a "heavy" fighter in name only. It should be compared to the Vanguard. Which did get nerfed back in 24.2 with the loss of a power plant and half its hull hit points.

Regarding the ability/inability to put a 1scu box inside: According to other datamining, there is an auxiliary weapon rack and storage compartment on the outside of the ship. Likely on the inside of one of the bottom wings. Granted, you can bring a box inside a bunker to loot but you cant bring a storage locker so it will still have that downside.
@Kurashinno i heard there was a teick to get the tiop turret, but i think you needed a special hornet, perhaps f8c. Cant put anything on the nose of it.
I already have F7A. Flying the ghost is just an edgier looking step down. If I need stealth, there's always the Firebird. Do yourself a favor and get the Guardian.
Love it! But I have always liked most of the MISC ships (except the Freelancers) especially the Reliants (I have a Sen, because that one also has 1.2 SCU of quantum fuel), Prospector and Hull-A. Looking forward to the upcoming MISC salvage ship, maybe to replace my Vulture. For now I need to think if I need to melt my Redeemer or Vanguard Sentinel for it. Likely it will be the Redeemer… We’ll see what the Guardian’s price will be. Should be similar to the Vanguards. Cheers and goodnight Kornelius o7

There's a new video out that walks through the ship, starting outside. There is indeed an elevator, so a 1 SCU box might be doable. Not sure about a 2 SCU, the elevator doesn't look big enough but it's hard to tell. And, that is definitely a weapons locker beside the armor locker.
Not sure how you'd get even a 1 SCU box inside, those doors they show are not large enough. It would need some sort of ramp. The thing to the left of the suit locker is probably a weapons locker.

The Vanguard and Guardian match up very well actually. They have the same speeds, same QT fuel capacities, similar dps (Vanguard is ~10% higher), similar interiors. Guardian has more total hp (almost double), but about the same in terms of critical body parts, Vanguard has slightly more dps (~10%) and an extra shield. IMO I still think the Vanguard is the better ship since they are so similar in most stats, but the Vanguard retains a 10% dps advantage and an extra shield (though the Vanguard's massive extra noncritical hp areas can soak more than the Vanguard in exchange). Guardian will look nicer with its more updated ship interior and polish. It's pretty close between the two, really. Though they are very similar ships and as such absolutely to be compared.
@@Gofr5 Dont forget that you have 4 variants of the Vanguard so you can pick what you prefer most and on top, you have the option for a turret gunner which makes the ship much stronger than the Guardian. A turret means more dps and it can even shot at the enemy when he is in your back hunting you.

I think the heavy fighters are still underperforming. They have nice DPS and all, but the maneuverability is lacking to much to qualify as a fighter. The F8C has worse turnrates than the Argo Raft for example. Of course all this can be done later in the development and balancing will probably change alot till 1.0, but it would be nice if some things would be more consistent.
I like the mirai looks. Both the new bigger one and the smaller fury. Would love to have a dedicated carrier, that can dock them like a conny docks the merlin.
Most of the Grade A Millitary componants are gone in 4.0 EPTU atm. some grade b and grade c military componants can still be found in shops but for the smaller sizes not the bigger ships. not sure is it going to live like that or what gonna happens.

The Guardian is looking nicer since its newer of course, but it's not a clearcut case of the Guardian is better.
You will no longer be able to purchase XL1 in 4.0. Supposedly no military grade components at shops, gotta go to find them by looting ships after damaging them. Of course for size 3 we cannot remove them so no possible way to get s3 military grade stuff anymore I guess. Good thinking CIG. Why did you put Andor attritions on the F8C, that is not a 1:1 comparison. And especially for people who did not get them, it is not even a valid loadout for comparison. Either way, that F8C seems way OP. Shocked that this new shiny did not get the typical CIG boost in weapons. Would have much rather seen this get 4x s4, one for each arm like the fury. But CIG would have probably said that is too much gun, even though that would still be like 400DPS less than the F8C. I am sure all that makes sense in CIGs head though.

Likely it will be similar to the Vanguards, so between say 250-300 bucks excluding VAT. Depends on how much CIG marketing thinks will be ideal for them. Usually nowadays that means its price will be kinda high. We’ll find soon enough…
I thought grade A components, especially military ones, aren't available in stores and are only obtainable via contested zones? If this hasn't changed, I'm not sure if recommending these components is a good idea as most people probably won't have access to them. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm very curious about this. It hasn not Cargo Grid. Just a walk space for components. Your 4 SCU unsecured Cargo in the furure completely destroy your ship in flight. Remember. Current system is just placeholder. Everyone forgot about that!!
in 4.0 you cant buy military components anymore... they are attained through military reputation but pirates will hate you but know the pyro mission givers can give you military grade components
Buffed stats at launch to sell a ship; what else is new. Any bets on how long it will be before it gets nerfed to make way for the next latest and greatest "punching above it's weight" ship? If you've been paying attention long enough, you know nerfing is guaranteed (at some point after the sale).
That ship is a Freakin TARDIS!.... how do they put that much in a sooo little space?...... I think this wins even over the crusader starter (being gorgeous this one).
Visibility from the cockpit, for a fighter, is pretty poor and will negatively impact situational awareness. Those blind spots will be exploited by opponents that know what they are doing and understand their target.
DO NOT get attached to these stats. No way they keep the Guardian being darn near better than every other heavy fighter ship out there. It will be nerfe..er, balanced.
Where do you see it better than every other heavy fighter? Use Erkul and compare it. The Vanguad has more dps and a turret. And a second shield. Just as 1 example.

its really not.. 2 s5 isn't that impressive, its hp pool is higher with one s2 shield however currently that's per section the body section is actually less hp than the f8c, it'll die very quickly with less shielding and slightly lower hp to any pilot focusing on the body section and its weapons s5s for now are ok, but as things change they'll be much worse at dealing with light fighters and designed to take on other heavy fighters, its missiles being s2 sort of sucks, switch them for less missiles and higher size missiles to fit the roll of heavy fighter kill or medium size to large size ship damage.
Well, the F8C isn’t that good anymore anyway. And with its measly 0.7 SCU quantum tank, you won’t easily use it in Pyro. There really are better ships for 300 bucks and this Guardian might be one, at least until the next ship is released and they nerf it 😂
The thing that really bothers me is the big mfds covering half your screen overall ruining the view. That + inferior damage and all makes me question my decision to buy it ngl…

For me you have your priorities backwards! When setting up system components I will opt for lower EM signature over anything else so long as there is not a large sacrifice and so far I have not seen a large enough sacrifice to justify not ensuring the lowest EM signature possible.
especially with the front CS of the Guardian listed at 3.3km. You can get in pretty tight on your targets if you're going stealthy. If you're not facing your target, your side and top CS are still only 6000 and 9000 respectively, so still not super high and good for keeping hidden unless someone gets super close to you anyway.
@@Gofr5 it definitely seems more like a stealth ship, or one meant to hit hard and fast and then leave, it doesn't have the staying power of other heavy fighters, so cannons are probably better for that range to stay back and hit high alpha damage while the smaller missiles can be good at removing light fighters, the s5s seem more for other heavy fighters and medium size ships, or swap those missiles for larger missiles to have very high alpha damage between missiles and cannons to shut down critical areas of ships or nuke one and then return to rearm, its definitely not meant to stay in the fight long term.
And that’s the main reason why I won’t drop $300-$500 on this ship when I would normally would have. By taking away the XL1 and all the fast drives for quantum travel, they’re turning this game into a time sink. I’m not paying for that. It’s mind boggling how this game is going in the wrong direction and that’s after MM killed it for me. Anybody wanna buy a Polaris half off? Lol

Well I don’t know. So if the handling and speed is not that much better I can fir two 1 SCU boxes plus a Pulse on the warden easy and safe. No bouncing around like a broken pain in the ass game. Also if they don’t make the Paladin able to take a Pulse and 2 to 4 SCU boxes I won’t be buying one of those as well. CIG already nerfs guns shields and maneuverability into the dirt. If a ship can’t take the gear a Merc or Bounty Hunter needs then the ship is Trash as soon as its guns get nerfed. The MSR came nerfed two size 3 guns? But at least it can hold a Ursa and SCU. It should have had 4 size 3s, or two size 4s, or even two size 3s and two size 4s. Like the MSR could swing around and use them against a good fighter pilot. The fighter would still win. But we would be able to feel like we had an epic ship. So many epic ship opportunities lost to CIG nerfs and not wanting to give players proper options within the ships they want us to buy. Absolutely SAD.
I also bet it will be nerfed. I'll wait to see how long those size 5s remain unchanged. I'm curious how much of a beating the engines can take before being destroyed or falling off and how agile it will be because it's bulky and has no turret. Therefore, a more agile ship will be glued to your a$$ and pound it like there's no tomorrow. Excited about the ship but have some concerns.
I am sure the Guardian will be nerfed, just like the F8C was, this will happen in 6 or so months after most people have bought one. What "grinds my gears' is this fighter ship has a bed to log of from but the medical terrapin does not :( Another question is will this fit inside my Polaris hanger?
@ it’s ok to have different opinions. I would rather add more anti bomber ability … a buccaneer or like interceptor . Or I might go with a scout like a terrapin or tracker. The Polaris already has big guns on it. It has decent air defense and crazy offense if the torpedos ever work. An inferno isn’t a bad choice to soften up a cap ships point defense before launching torpedos
It needs it. The cross section looks to be larger than a Vanguard, the manuvering thrusters are attached to the winglett arm thingies so good luck if you lose any. +30% EM and IR are big yikes aswell. I think from the stats and the name it is very clear that the Guardian is a dedicated long range escort fighter, and not something you want to be out solo adventuring in. (Not that the stats will stop us from using it like that)
NOPE. Only more total HP because of more parts. But these more parts doesn't help if you get shot in the important ones. Body HP: Guardian 7350, Vanguard W. 7500.
probably meant to be very fast hit and leave, its total hp might be higher, but losing one shield plus the critical components are all similar hp to vanguard and f8c meaning any decent player will go for those and losing one engine will also massively hurt the guardian so that higher hp pool means very little.

If you use a Toby eye tracker you can look a bit around it. It’s similar to the Reliant cockpit panels.

You do know that every ship has an entrance. We just don't know how big it is.
it's a small elevator at the rear, like the one on the Mantis. Too small for 1scu box.

Don't forget the turret on the Vanguard.
The Guardian could be slightly smaller and should have a better mobility.

I think they should reclassify long range fighters vs heavy.

Likely it will be similar to the Vanguards, so between say 250-300 bucks excluding VAT. Depends on how much CIG marketing thinks will be ideal for them. Usually nowadays that means its price will be kinda high. We’ll find soon enough…

I thought grade A components, especially military ones, aren't available in stores and are only obtainable via contested zones? If this hasn't changed, I'm not sure if recommending these components is a good idea as most people probably won't have access to them.

It hasn not Cargo Grid. Just a walk space for components. Your 4 SCU unsecured Cargo in the furure completely destroy your ship in flight. Remember. Current system is just placeholder. Everyone forgot about that!!

in 4.0 you cant buy military components anymore... they are attained through military reputation but pirates will hate you but know the pyro mission givers can give you military grade components
Buffed stats at launch to sell a ship; what else is new. Any bets on how long it will be before it gets nerfed to make way for the next latest and greatest "punching above it's weight" ship? If you've been paying attention long enough, you know nerfing is guaranteed (at some point after the sale).

Visibility from the cockpit, for a fighter, is pretty poor and will negatively impact situational awareness. Those blind spots will be exploited by opponents that know what they are doing and understand their target.
DO NOT get attached to these stats. No way they keep the Guardian being darn near better than every other heavy fighter ship out there. It will be nerfe..er, balanced.

Where do you see it better than every other heavy fighter? Use Erkul and compare it. The Vanguad has more dps and a turret. And a second shield. Just as 1 example.
Eh, I don't think there'll be much reason to nerf it. Vanguard Warden still deals ~10% more damage (not counting its turret even) and has an extra shield over the Guardian. Guardian has almost double the total hp in return, but critical body parts and hp is comparable to the Vanguard.
its really not.. 2 s5 isn't that impressive, its hp pool is higher with one s2 shield however currently that's per section the body section is actually less hp than the f8c, it'll die very quickly with less shielding and slightly lower hp to any pilot focusing on the body section and its weapons s5s for now are ok, but as things change they'll be much worse at dealing with light fighters and designed to take on other heavy fighters, its missiles being s2 sort of sucks, switch them for less missiles and higher size missiles to fit the roll of heavy fighter kill or medium size to large size ship damage.

Well, the F8C isn’t that good anymore anyway. And with its measly 0.7 SCU quantum tank, you won’t easily use it in Pyro. There really are better ships for 300 bucks and this Guardian might be one, at least until the next ship is released and they nerf it 😂

The thing that really bothers me is the big mfds covering half your screen overall ruining the view. That + inferior damage and all makes me question my decision to buy it ngl…

For me you have your priorities backwards! When setting up system components I will opt for lower EM signature over anything else so long as there is not a large sacrifice and so far I have not seen a large enough sacrifice to justify not ensuring the lowest EM signature possible.
especially with the front CS of the Guardian listed at 3.3km. You can get in pretty tight on your targets if you're going stealthy. If you're not facing your target, your side and top CS are still only 6000 and 9000 respectively, so still not super high and good for keeping hidden unless someone gets super close to you anyway.
@@Gofr5 it definitely seems more like a stealth ship, or one meant to hit hard and fast and then leave, it doesn't have the staying power of other heavy fighters, so cannons are probably better for that range to stay back and hit high alpha damage while the smaller missiles can be good at removing light fighters, the s5s seem more for other heavy fighters and medium size ships, or swap those missiles for larger missiles to have very high alpha damage between missiles and cannons to shut down critical areas of ships or nuke one and then return to rearm, its definitely not meant to stay in the fight long term.
Unfortunately, the only way you’re gonna be able to get the XL - 1 drive is winning it in a CZ or buying it off of a player that did.
And that’s the main reason why I won’t drop $300-$500 on this ship when I would normally would have. By taking away the XL1 and all the fast drives for quantum travel, they’re turning this game into a time sink. I’m not paying for that. It’s mind boggling how this game is going in the wrong direction and that’s after MM killed it for me. Anybody wanna buy a Polaris half off? Lol

Well I don’t know. So if the handling and speed is not that much better I can fir two 1 SCU boxes plus a Pulse on the warden easy and safe. No bouncing around like a broken pain in the ass game. Also if they don’t make the Paladin able to take a Pulse and 2 to 4 SCU boxes I won’t be buying one of those as well. CIG already nerfs guns shields and maneuverability into the dirt. If a ship can’t take the gear a Merc or Bounty Hunter needs then the ship is Trash as soon as its guns get nerfed. The MSR came nerfed two size 3 guns? But at least it can hold a Ursa and SCU. It should have had 4 size 3s, or two size 4s, or even two size 3s and two size 4s. Like the MSR could swing around and use them against a good fighter pilot. The fighter would still win. But we would be able to feel like we had an epic ship. So many epic ship opportunities lost to CIG nerfs and not wanting to give players proper options within the ships they want us to buy. Absolutely SAD.

I also bet it will be nerfed. I'll wait to see how long those size 5s remain unchanged. I'm curious how much of a beating the engines can take before being destroyed or falling off and how agile it will be because it's bulky and has no turret. Therefore, a more agile ship will be glued to your a$$ and pound it like there's no tomorrow. Excited about the ship but have some concerns.
I am sure the Guardian will be nerfed, just like the F8C was, this will happen in 6 or so months after most people have bought one. What "grinds my gears' is this fighter ship has a bed to log of from but the medical terrapin does not :( Another question is will this fit inside my Polaris hanger?

@ it’s ok to have different opinions. I would rather add more anti bomber ability … a buccaneer or like interceptor . Or I might go with a scout like a terrapin or tracker. The Polaris already has big guns on it. It has decent air defense and crazy offense if the torpedos ever work. An inferno isn’t a bad choice to soften up a cap ships point defense before launching torpedos

It needs it. The cross section looks to be larger than a Vanguard, the manuvering thrusters are attached to the winglett arm thingies so good luck if you lose any.
+30% EM and IR are big yikes aswell.
I think from the stats and the name it is very clear that the Guardian is a dedicated long range escort fighter, and not something you want to be out solo adventuring in. (Not that the stats will stop us from using it like that)
NOPE. Only more total HP because of more parts. But these more parts doesn't help if you get shot in the important ones. Body HP: Guardian 7350, Vanguard W. 7500.

probably meant to be very fast hit and leave, its total hp might be higher, but losing one shield plus the critical components are all similar hp to vanguard and f8c meaning any decent player will go for those and losing one engine will also massively hurt the guardian so that higher hp pool means very little.
