Some people complained about the cutscene length, but as a Metal Gear Solid enjoyer and Mass Effect fan, and just a space nerd in general.. I was hooked the entire time. And of course the prologue is going to have more story dump, itll calm down as the game progresses.
Watch the live gameplay demo from today of the prolouge, 3 crashes, over 50 major bugs, 13 years of development. Consider me officially unimpressed by what could just be a movie.
People whining and that's what they're doing whining about cutscenes are so insufferable it's an intro chapter to the game. It's going to be heavy on narrative and cutscenes. It's also a Chris Roberts game. Have you ever played a Chris Roberts game before? He loves his cinematics. Understand what you're watching and the game you're playing. This isn't Half-Life 2. This is a wing Commander successor.
From Japan I learned about this game 7 years ago. I was hooked from the concept. I was very happy and relieved to see the SQ42 game video. I have always wanted to sail a big ship with my own hands, so I have several Idris-P's and I am looking forward to the day when I can sail on one of them! It's so frustrating that I can't shop overseas now that the Japanese yen is cheap and prices are high, and salaries remain low.
@@secondrule dude, I don't have means or time to play most games, I'm an avid game-movie viewer, seen dozens of such super long "movies" for games, regret none of it.
I disagree. Lots of sounds feels unnatural - those Vanduul ships, spaceflight, when he doesn't hear his own interactions, but hear everything outside etc.
Definitely not ready yet. You shouldnt hear anything in space. Except when touching something that conducts vibrations. The dialogue is a little wooden. And we should be at a point where standing in front of someone having a conversation should distract them just like you dont creep into a convo in public. Small nuances break immersion. For half a billion$ or whatever they're at now, those should be fixed.
I'm unexpectedly impressed by the sense of scale here. It's always clear how the battle is playing out, and what the player's part in it is. It's not easy to achieve both those things at once.
I was concerned about the "readability" of this battle in particular, but they really did a great job showcasing the battle in its entirety while we're just a grunt.
@@JamesPound The gameplay isn't what I was talking about. I was talking about the sense of place, and what exactly was happening around you. And yeah, I'd be super disappointed if the whole game was like this - in fact I believe some sections here drag on a little too long (like the repetitive zero-G section).
@@LEOPARD_2A7V They played the game on stage at CitizenCon and it crashed twice. Regardless of those two crashes everyone has said it was amazing and up to par with this uploaded version.
Off to a bit of a slow start but oooh boy, best space battle I've seen in a long time. Fantastic to see the hammerhead doing what it's made for, and I loved so much that it wasn't JUST the Battle of Vega from our point of view, but it gave us plenty of time to see the battle as a whole. Absolutely stellar opening to a game, just in terms of writing and pacing. Set design and sound design were thrilling, great mix of cutscenes and gameplay. Had me absolutely hooked, wonderful to watch. Hopefully the finished product is just as fun to play! I'm looking forward to seeing if CIG can pull it off.
It's sci-fi ham to the max and it's great :D Been awhile since we've had some bad guys with a proper villain-theme. That orchestral hit when they board the ship... just keep using variations of that whenever a Vanduul enters the scene, like the "Cylon-jingle" in Battlestar Galactica.
This is the first time SQ42 has felt like a real video game to me after all these years and not just smoke and mirrors. I'm impressed by the spectacle and genuinely curious to see what the final product looks like.
Really? I am a backer since the early stages of the shitshow roberts put up and only did it for the successor of wing commander, single player mission stuff. After all this time I do not give a darn about sq42 anymore. They lost all credibility by preferring to do star citizen first for at least five years. I know the cute videos in the updates about how they motion captured for sq42 etc etc etc. but be assured, not a single code line went anywhere back then for it. If it smells and feels like betrayal...
@Soulprismatics ahhhh the original backers that missed the 2014 mark to pull out when cig asked the community if they just want some multiplayer pew pew action with a campaign slapped to it or if they should go bonkers. You had your chance to pull out
It is a gameplay demo video. This doesn't say anything right now. The had more than a decade to get any finished product to market and nothing happened besides unfinished vaporware
As a scifi lover, you have no idea how many emotions i've felt watching it. Haven't felt such feeling since mass effect trilogy or Halo i just cant express gratitude enough its all i've could ever asked for a complete large and rich universe with tech that is out of the league for many games. Thank you CIG might've been rough but at least you gave us honest stuff
This hits all the right marks with me. The F7A's carrier launch, the establishing shots showing everyone going through what's to come in their minds and pushing past all that to get to work, the reveal of the Kingdship, the hidden squadron in the asteroid field, the Quantum Boosting, the F7's maneuverability, and the full spread of torpedos from the Tali's. This is proper sci-fi. I'm so glad they started with the Battle of Vega to introduce us into the game.
"This is proper sci-fi" how about the fact that nothing in it is original starting from the Shivan style ultra generic style of the alien ships and tech or how about the fact this battle is almost an exact copy of the battle in Firefly : Serenity (go check it) or the fact they are using BSG style music i have scene more Scifi from EXODUS than here . go watch about the celestials there such as the Mara-yama and the fact they are humans , that is true science fiction about human possibilities of twisted evolution based on various aspects all i see here worthy of scifi is railguns
@@LauftFafathis comment is perplexing. A huge space battle with massive spaceships, alien laser weaponry, quantum boosted space travel, etc… and the one item “worthy of SCI-FI” is a technology that is already real and relatively old lmao
@@LauftFafa This has no similarity with the battle in Serenity, the battle in Serenity involved using a mass of crazy flesh eating space freaks as a surpirse battering ram to get through a blockade who is taken completely by surprise and has to react, before Serenity crash lands on a planet killing the pilot. The video is two massive co-ordinated fleets in a stand off, you're inventing things just to find fault, take a day off.
Yeah, games nowadays don't do literal *cut*scenes anymore as much as they just do...'scenes'; rendered realtime in the same engine, just 'stepping aside for a moment to dump some exposition or narrative' :)
The trick is they aren't really cutscenes. Not in the modern sense anyway where cutscenes are often pre-rendered scenes, sometimes in the game engine sometimes not. Even the ones that are though often are pre-rendered with all the quality settings cranked up way higher than anyone could actual run real time. Here its just the same game where you don't have control of the camera that's all. More like what cutscenes used to be except now the graphics technology has come so far :D
Yeah for sure, but in one of the transitions it was a bit odd to see the character's and it's neighbouring turrets just standing there, waiting for the camera to come close - that was a bit immersion-breaking. But that's honestly just one of maybe two issues I saw, the rest is awesome!
For 1 hour I was grinning and on the edge of my seat just watching this, I already know how much I'm going to enjoy playing through this game. From Bishop commanding the fleet to the Valduul and their Kingship entrance every cutscene makes it so each time you are back to a gameplay sequence you are more immersed on what's happening all around, I love this kind of storytelling. I'm also dying to know more about the ship hull class of the UEES Corvus, seeing a bona-fide space battleship taking the line of battle with those massive 3x triple turrets was just amazing. For me, this is what I signed up for on day 1 back in 2012 and even much more.
Corvus according to that tactical map is designated a "Cruiser". There is a battleship on there as well, slightly bigger but similar shape to the Cruiser. The name for the Battleship is Raiden on the tactical map but when Bishop asks Raiden to Support the Scimitar Destroyer an Idris Frigate sets off so not sure the naming on the tac map is accurate.
@@redrosecounty You're right, thanks for bringing that up, I didn't notice at first glance the hull classes where in the tac map. I guess it makes sense since the Bengal is kind of a battleship and carrier at the same time, these cruisers would be more brawlers moving around punching with heavy stuff. In any case, I sure would like to be able to see one up close in the next Invictus or IAE 😁
@@LuchoZuca Yeah, idk what they're called in the lore but in other games and series they are called "Assault Carriers" or "Super Carriers" Then you've got the Retribution :| That thing is a monster.
Felt like a kid again, awed by a space adventure so engaging that I *feel* part of it. This game is legendary. No matter how many haters there are, doubters, cynics, and critics, this is a game that so many SciFi fans have been waiting for for years.
This gave me flashbacks as a kid when i was watching star wars and EvE Online gameplay in absolute awe of a world to explore and experience. Both as an adult now shadows of what they where, i genuinely hope SQ42 wakes that kid back up in me that looked up to the stars and let his mind wander.
That had absolutely everything I could ever dream of from an intro. As a day 1 backer, I shed a tear in joy. I cannot wait to find out what happens in the story and I cannot wait to take revenge on the Vanduul! I commend everyone at RSI, your efforts have paid off tremendously!
Finally, a game that has great 1st person animations. All the little details like your character actually putting their hand up to scan the door lock, or to bend down to pick up ammo, goes such a long way. Very immersive!
Oh yeah that's like the whole premise of star citizen. Trying to be the most immersive space game ever made. And this single player mode is the framework for he multi-player mode. Most buttons on your ship will actually do things and the parts of your ship will be interactive and you can swap or take out components. Pretty cool stuff, just takes forever to develop
They are also a waste of your time, slow down the gameplay. Seeing them for the first time gives you a woow effect, but after a 1000th time you will scream on the forum for a "turn off unnecessary animations" button. There is a reason most of games don't do things like that - Gameplay > Realism, always.
This is why Ill always have respect for Gary Oldman. No matter how many academy awards or emmys hes nominated for, he'll always go out of his way to do fun gigs like this. What a goat.
I think the opening here shows huge promise for the rest of the game. As well as the general hard work and passion for Sci-fi and space games in general. I truely think it's shaping up to be one of those once in a decade games that is truly legendary. Keep up the good work!!
I was walking home and just wanted to check the video out - I was physically frizen in place for 30min watching that battle - passerbys must have thought I was crazy - this is freaking brilliant !!
same here! to be honest i don't mind a wait as long as this or better is the quality we get out of the entire game. id rather a game take the time to build up and have not only an impressive level of detail in everything, but also a truly compelling story that grips me every second. I dont want a "New CoD every year" style of game built, if it sacrifices on any aspect of the games depth. THIS is the kind of development i want to see in games, take your time to make something truly impressive. let the players feel immersed in the story and world again.
I really couldnt care less about the gameplay at this point , Im more than happy to sit here and watch stuff of that quality for 30+ hours , that was truely amazing
@@O-.-O Its not because its prerecorded. On stage they need to capture the game directly from the player computer which presents simultanously on the stage screen. That delivers the footage than in lower quality. Btw. could also be the reason for the crashes.
@@neob8366 The live stream quality was also awful and had lots of compression, so that makes a difference too. I noticed the live stream looks like it has almost a light grey filter on it compared to this video.
Felt so bad for CIG having those two crashes in the live demo! I know the feeling. No matter how much you test software beforehand, as soon as you go to demo it it breaks!
As a software dev myself, I call it the "demo curse", you can have something tested for a whole week, and everything will be fine, or you'll find the bugs and squash them. But then on demo day SOMETHING will break or you'll discover a brand new bug XD
I loved every second. And I do like long cutscenes. This gives me goosebumbs and the biggest immersion I have ever felt about a videogame ever. Incredible. Please keep this standard and don't rush things. Then I will remember this until the very end of my life.
$731,717,465 and counting. This and their multiplayer game are, when "completed," are going to bring in some of the most robust features in gaming history. It will be rivaled by the likes of Grand Theif Auto 6 and Mine Craft, each of them being uncontested in their scope. They blew past their initial stretch goal maximum of $65 million years ago and have only magnified the project. With funding like this, everyone's individual vision of what this game could be has shattered and pieced together with new material to create something only a handful of corporations have the patience for.
@@SultanDesync If you only knew the number of things Carmack started and didn't finish because of corporate nonsense. Maybe he should have gone indie and done a kickstarter instead of being Facebook's lapdog.
I don't think it was rough outside the couple crashes. The frame rate was steady. I don't think the screen tearing was the game, salty Mike mentioned he thinks it was the broadcast which I agree with. So the game actually looked pretty polished considering.
Why do I care more about the characters here in this demo than the entire recent string of Star Wars games or COD games. That look in Gary Oldman's eyes as he looks to Jilian Anderson, knowing she would try to sacrifice herself to save his ship....that alone makes me wanna dive into their backstory.
@@Mrnobody619 I've just read some person who backed this when he was 48, now he's in his 60s and health problems are crewping up, and he feels disappointed and sad that he likely won't live long enough to actually play it. It was genuinely depressing.
The cutscenes are spot on! Very explain the story so well and they fit wonderfully into the gameplay! The whole thing is so well implemented that I don't mind the length at all.
I saw some of those complaints about the cut-scenes, I don't get it, this is a cinematic game and the beginning is just a prologue - intro to the story. Im pretty disappointed to wait until 2026 after such a long wait (I backed for this game in 2012, not Star citizen) , but what was shown here was nothing short of awe inspiring.
tbh, after 12 years, the debt this company has racked up vs how much they would make w/ subscriptions to a very realistic but boring space sim vs continually selling people on demo's + the dream (robert's)... =>basically what you have now is the finished product, it will never get past this state
@@eplanti tbh, "it will never get past this state" is what people have been saying for the past 12 years so the fact that the line is still going gives me optimism
@@survivalr1326those games have engaging game play. Can't say that bit being stuck in a turret for 10 mins pressing left mouse looked thrilling personally
if it takes 20 years to build out the biggest and most expansive space sim in history along with a campaign that is the quality or better than this 72 minute video from scratch and without AAA backing then I'd be proud
Didnt saw complexity tho. I mean, it looks great. But we didnt realy SAW any gameplay whatsoever. A railshoter sequence, a one way walk and a most simplistic gunfight. Its fine, its the tutorial. But to call that complex or saying we know any better what the game is then before is a little... Blinded
One of the details I enjoyed was at 42:44. You see Eclipses on the right flank, but when it transitions to the Vanduul's radar/sensor system, the Eclipses don't show up. Edit: I responded below but it probably got lost in the shuffle. After a few folks pointed it out, I did take a closer look and realized they aren’t Eclipses. XD
Youre right, that was a great detail! but those didnt look like eclipses to me. more like a stealth F8 variant. a few shots later, you can see its like a cross between the F8, a bit of the eclipse, and sprinkle of the sabre.
What's funny is whilst watching I was literally thinking, "Would be cool if they used Eclipses seeing as this is actually what they're supposed to be for" and yet, they were in fact there, they were just so stealthy I didn't see them. Or at least, some sort of stealthy ship.
@@RonJeremy514 Welcome to the space opera genre. It's not gunna be for everyone. But if you're a fan of Kojima, I have no idea why you would have a problem with the cutscene length. The math ain't math'n on that one.
ABSOLUTE PROPS to everyone involved with this! 👍💯💯 I 1000% enjoyed this - I was laughing out loud when Squadron 42 came out of stealth from behind the rocks and started their run - Hott-Daime!! 💥💯👍 I swear I wish this was some kind of interactive "video book" I could sit back and interact with! Similar to how I love listening to my "Expeditionary Force - Columbus Day" Audible book series (Skippy and Bishop are a trip!) Of course here I'd have some VR glasses and a game controller hooked up to it!! 🤓💯💥👍 It's been a hella-long time since my Wing Commander Privateer days! I could FIT into playing this NICELY! 😎 PROPS again, y'all!
Interesting, I don't see it all other than obvious space navy parallels. I never watched the original series though so maybe its more in line with that.
@@cleonanderson1722 The way the camera moves, the way focus and zoom are handled, latching on to a fighter/missile point of view... yeah, the style is straight out of BSG (the newer one). I don't know if they decided "yeah, we love BSG cameras, let's do that" or if it was more a matter of BSG camera action still being fashionable back when they first made the basics of the video. I'm pretty certain the gaming community is going to assume the latter, though.
@@ZlothZloth Ah okay, I can definitely see that parallel to the BSG reboot. I was thinking yall were talking about the plot, setting, dialogue, themes etc.
That was absolutely brilliant, the visuals are outstanding. The space walking with the battle still going on in the background, hugely looking forward to this.
Theres something very special happening here. On top of the incredible cinematics you've got nostalgic writing like films from the 80's and 90's, old school and emotional, you could almost call it cheesy but in a very very good way. Its going to be very refreshing in comparison to the awful writing we are getting from basically everything else in the modern day. I think this game is going to be very special indeed and a love letter to the 80s and 90s, like the Top Gun Maverick of games. Please dont let us down CIG/Chris.
It's like witnessing the best from different Sci-Fi movies, merges together. I wish I could watch a movie like this : Galactica + Star Trek + Star wars + Fire fly. I'm craving for that.
This was incredibly impressive. Every time I thought it was doing something well, it ended up going further than I expected. Full of drama, amazing visuals and shows incredible passion for the genre. Bring it on.
Yeah. Spent 60€ myself, I hop in now and then to just do stuff, sometimes play with friends. When the servers are not dying that is lol. Squadron 42 looks pretty lit.
I hope part of that 60$ went to the Sq42 add-on; mine did, and that's what I've been waiting for patiently, occasionally trying out the 'MMO in the works' that is Star Citizen. (fun fact: most of the time, when some new feature has been added to SC, it's because it was already developed for Sq42 (apart from things like networking and server architecture, obviously) so I was getting 'implicit progress reports' all along. :)
Hi, I'm a member of Gronkh @ Twitch. We reacted today to this Video with more than 25k ppl. We all love it so much. Big thank you to all who created this "real life" movie and we all want to play it ❤🎉🤩🤩🤩
Henry Cavill being the first person i see just made my day. Didn't know he was in Squadron. We have been waiting for a long time for S42 and seeing this gives hope to the people who have waited as long as i have.
Thanks for doing this! It's great to see it without the tearing and crashes. Also, thank you for moving the "Work in progress" out of the way so it's not covering the subtitles.
@explorer47422 Yeah, the demo worked flawlessly before and after, just had problems live, suuuuure. People who psychologicaly exploit neurodivergent whales for thousands of dollars and lied every year about the state of the game and what's coming soon, they are definitely telling the truth now, it's not like this upload has suspicious jumpcuts that make it look spliced
Thanks to Rich, not only for heading to the office directly after the show in order to get a proper playthrough - But also for being so mindful to put that "work in progress" into a corner so we can properly read all the Vanduul lines.
FYI, the cast includes Mark Strong, Gary Oldman, Henry Cavill, Gillian Anderson, Andy Serkis, Liam Cunningham, John Rhys-Davies and Sophie Wu just to name a few!
Chris Roberts has been making 'interactive movies' for...well, it's technically shorter than Hideo Kojima but it's close. Those two are practically 'brothers from other mothers' ;)
Awesome. Just good ol' space opera stuff, like back in the nineties, with the tech from 21st century. Thinks I noticed, in no particular order: - No crashes. - Besides minor glitches, the prologue runs just fine. Some pilot seats remain empty and the guy switching faces. - the Hornet's RCS thrusters don't move like they should. - the pilot in the recruitment ad at the beginning is SQ42 leader callsign "Doc". It's a nice touch and attention to detail here, why SQ42 takes so long ... - that UEES Gauntlet surely takes a beating and refuses to go down. In the end there's barely any ship left doing the final run. Just to get an idea: --> main thrusters are missing. This ship uses its auxillary thrusters. --> the entire forward section (prongs) are missing. You can see that clearly from the bridge. Half of the ship is gone. --> basically it's just the central section, including the bridge, half of the hangar and auxillary thrusters that are still somewhat working. - those Vanduul don't go down. Perhaps it's the Legatus difficulty. - Hammerhead bridges have fully reflective glas, so you can't see what's inside. - I still don't know what the big destroyer ships are named. For now, I call 'em "August class", as one of the ships is named August (the one that gets its rear section cut open). - Idris frigates don't stand a chance. - The damage system is incredible. I hope we gonna see something like that in the PU too. Especially internal damage befits such game. - Cpt. McLaren takes the weapon ;-) - She lives (barely) at the end. As a fan of Gillian Anderson, I would've been disappointed should she bites the dust right in the prologue. Can't wait for all these reaction flics. Asmongold, Space Tomato etc ... let's give it a good and solid one, will you?
This is one of the finest space battles in movie, gaming history full stop since Return of the Jedi. Cannot beleive it outstanding CIG and Chris Roberts!. Goosebumps when the Bishop whispers "Go" and the flight of Talis commence their run
For people who dont know much about the LORE of Star Citizen, Talis pretty much save the day all the time! It was great to see them get to shine in the darkness. With larger ships on the horizon, their time in the PU will come again
Vanduul fleet Arrival gave me major Serenity vibes, the Admiral being the Operative. Just way calmer - no panicked "Somebody fire!", just a cool XO and teh Admiral going "Fire!" That kingship even fits the giant one coming out of the Nebula extremely well.
@@ZOMGbies you can use this on 99% of the cool scenes out there in movies or tv shows. "During the time X say Y you could have move the plot fowards by X". It's a emotional scene.
The game engine is so good that they could make a series inside the verse, and that would be cool so to meet your heroes. Regardless, when it comes to fidelity and animations, StarEngine is the best games engine right now and there is more to come! EXCITING!

Yeah if that was the end of Gillian Anderson I would have been sad. Glad he pulled her out of the ship, but I do wonder if it’s one of those “choices” you make in game that will impact you later. Chris’ games are known for those mechanics.
Don't build it yet, probably better even don't start until the game is actually in our hands, unless you want it to play other stuff. The requirements on this are gonna be extreme. This likely ran on a $4000+ system and even that had to use frame generation and very aggressive upscaling (see pixel staircase pattern on the top barrels when the player is in the gun turret) to get to that performance. There are like 1-2 CPU and 1 new GPU generation and probably a midlife refresh to come before the game releases.
@@adriankoch964 agreed, I’ll be buying whatever nvidia has cooking around the time of release. Hopefully by then intel can figure out how to make gaming chips again 🫠
The difference between titles developed solely for the PC platform opposed to console or multiplatform is night and day. Ive come to realise just how consoles popularity and marketshare has genuinely held back games from a technical standpoint, massive shame.
Indeed. Having to develop for 3+ platforms really hamstrings any real advancements, because you're limited to the tech of the consoles, which may be 10+ years old at their core. Even the latest XBox and Playstation still have an OS that's 10+ years old and virtually the same as when the XBox One/PS5 released. Developing for Windows PC allows you to make these kinds of leaps forward in game tech.
The only downside is the potential for large variations in individual's experiences due to PC hardware setup, but given its release in 2026, it should actually be ok

I was concerned about the "readability" of this battle in particular, but they really did a great job showcasing the battle in its entirety while we're just a grunt.

Probably because all of that is actually rendered in realtime
It's basically just doing the Doom 3 (2004) thing where the camera pans out of the player's head

Similar to how I love listening to my "Expeditionary Force - Columbus Day" Audible book series (Skippy and Bishop are a trip!)
Of course here I'd have some VR glasses and a game controller hooked up to it!! 🤓💯💥👍
It's been a hella-long time since my Wing Commander Privateer days!
I could FIT into playing this NICELY! 😎
PROPS again, y'all!
I'm getting hardcore Battlestar Galactica vibes and that a good thing...
Interesting, I don't see it all other than obvious space navy parallels. I never watched the original series though so maybe its more in line with that.
Yeah me too ❤
When the kingship is activating their turrets and the camera zooms in on them, it immediately got me thinking of BSG. That put a smile on this face.
Top Gun Maverick of games is indeed on the table. Really optimistic about this one!
Definitely cheesy
It's like witnessing the best from different Sci-Fi movies, merges together. I wish I could watch a movie like this : Galactica + Star Trek + Star wars + Fire fly. I'm craving for that.
This was incredibly impressive. Every time I thought it was doing something well, it ended up going further than I expected. Full of drama, amazing visuals and shows incredible passion for the genre. Bring it on.
Here and now my compliments to the entire CIG team. This is movie-ready! I am so proud of you all!
No crashes and extra cutscene at the end
I might've spent 60$ on Star Citizen and barely played it but I'm definitely happy that some of that money went on this project, looks awesome.
Amazing and we haven't even learnt to fly yet!
Well, a Starman recruit doesn't intermediately go flying an F7 at the start.

Excellent all the way through. And the bagpipes! Phenomenal.
Can we all just appreciate Rich Tyrer's effort to go back to the office and record a whole new playthrough of this quality for TH-cam? o7
Oh, so that's what changed. I started to watch it, but it seemed pretty much the same as we saw years ago.
@@ZlothZloth We've seen the first 5mins of the opening briefly before, but never the entire playthrough of the epilogue

Wow yeah, he did the work he's paid to do. One of a kind.
Thanks to Rich, not only for heading to the office directly after the show in order to get a proper playthrough - But also for being so mindful to put that "work in progress" into a corner so we can properly read all the Vanduul lines.
That little detail makes this video
FYI, the cast includes Mark Strong, Gary Oldman, Henry Cavill, Gillian Anderson, Andy Serkis, Liam Cunningham, John Rhys-Davies and Sophie Wu just to name a few!

MGS5 had some good scenes too
@@AstrophageOfficial Yeah, the part where he's dragging himself through the wreckage is quite reminiscent of MGS5's opener.

@@empath69 Only two guys I have blind faith in making good games.
Awesome. Just good ol' space opera stuff, like back in the nineties, with the tech from 21st century.
Thinks I noticed, in no particular order:
- No crashes.
Just to get an idea:
--> main thrusters are missing.
- Cpt. McLaren takes the weapon ;-)
- She lives (barely) at the end.
I got more than goosebumps. I thought it was outstanding, and I usually don't like single player story games.
I would say Revenge of the Sith would be a better example. That opening shot has yet to be surpassed

Just way calmer - no panicked "Somebody fire!", just a cool XO and teh Admiral going "Fire!"
That kingship even fits the giant one coming out of the Nebula extremely well.
Because it's literally the same scene, the fog (nebula, whatever) the arrangement of the fleets and so on.
Right! Right out of Serenity

In the time it took her to say "take this, tell bishop xyz, leave me behind", the player could have already put her in the pod and ejected.

EXCITING!
Wow nice gameplay reveal, and with the release date too!

THAT FUXKING SCORE
It's pretty rare to see a game worth building an entire PC around. This is one of those games. I simply cannot wait!
So far I've built 3 for Star citizen

Incredible, the cutscenes literally look movie quality! Hard to believe that they're rendered in real time!
The difference between titles developed solely for the PC platform opposed to console or multiplatform is night and day.
Ive come to realise just how consoles popularity and marketshare has genuinely held back games from a technical standpoint, massive shame.
I couldn't agree more.
The only downside is the potential for large variations in individual's experiences due to PC hardware setup, but given its release in 2026, it should actually be ok
while i agree, we still dont know if it will be a PC only title
