Really good recipe. I baked it in a 9 x 13 pan, so glad I did. 350 for 30 minutes. The dough rose nicely up to 1/2 the height of the pan. They smell amazing and taste so good. I think they will taste even better tomorrow!, if that's possible! So buttery, the oatmeal is so chewy and the chocolate chips just burst with chocolatey goodness! It's a party in your mouth! 🤤 I used organic oatmeal and organic chips.
Very good bar cookie recipe. I used heaping tsp cinnamon. With the Oats I mixed in a cup of raisins, and approximately 1/4 cup semi sweet chips, then added to the batter. 7x14 glass pan 30 min. Perfect! Even better next day. Too good…had to freeze some so we don’t eat them all at once! Thank you for this recipe.
I made this for my kids' lunch because they take a morning snack to school and got tired of buying cereal bars that are full of sugar. I used whole wheat flour, cut the sugar, and added flaxseed and bran flakes. They taste amazing!
TY..SSR...just like ur other cookie bars..this one is a winner too..I baked it in a 9×13... 35 minutes..double batch..used instant oatmeal..wish I had old fashioned..but these were fantastic..really yum..I put about 5 cups of raisins for the double batch...thick n chewy bars..sooo good..thanx again..🌹🌻🌺
Thanks for posting the delicious recipe ma'am my mom is a doctor but she loves to bake in her free time. I'm sure she would love to add your delicious Oatmeal Cookie Bars recipe to her collection. She has tried your Blondie Bars no words to describe how delicious it was simply toothsome. Medical student Malaysia God Bless.
Made these yesterday, because they looked some YUM...they were SO GOOD!! I used almond extract because I ran out of vanilla SMH!!!. I just used half the amount of the vanilla extract because almond extract is pretty potent (lol). Regardless, the recipe was still SO YUM! Oh and used milked chocolate and caramel chips too...YUM-O! Thanks for sharing this recipe Sugar Spun Run!!
I just wanna let you know ma'am that my mom made this delicious recipe for the whole family yesterday and it made us speechless. God gracious medical student Malaysia. 😋👍👏✌
Hi I made this just today and I should say it was so delicious!! I also added cashew nuts and it was superb!! It's not too sweet and that's what my family love. thank you for sharing your recipe 😊
@@doritos6548 But...the oatmeal cookie bars we're pretty healthy, I think? Just kidding, I got a job and have a regular sleeping schedule now :P thanks for the concern
I made them and they are just as you said!!! Perfect. And all the substitutions worked also. Big hit in my family kitchen. 😍😁😋💃thank you from Utah, USA
New sub. So happy to find your recipe and channel! ❤ I hate making cookies, too fiddly and time consuming. I'm a cookie bar person. Warning: These are ADDICTIVE! They went FAST. Only thing I did differently was to add a couple teaspoons of vanilla bean paste to the wet ingredients. Next time I'm going to throw in some chopped pecans with the chips & check that out...Thank you for sharing!
I know others have done it. It probably won’t have the same taste and may make it more dense. It’s definitely worth a shot or you could always cut the recipe in half. If you try it, let me know how it goes. 😊
Hi again. I did substitute half of of the butter for applesauce and it did in fact turn out dense as you said it would, and the flavor was a bit weird... it wasn't bad but I like using butter better than applesauce. Also it had an apple smell to it.
@@SugarSpunRun I made it last night & it came out great! I put melted chocolate on the bottom then froze it. Then I put my batter on top. I cut the sugar by 1/3 and left everything else the same. It was perfect, thank you! I wish you could upload pix in the comments!
They were great. My BF ate three before they even cooled. I used a lot of cinnamon because I love it and also 1/2 cup of raisins. One thing though is that they are rather thick so next time I will try in a larger pan to see how that works with the thickness. Super recipe!
Sugar Spun Run thank you im just wondering if this recipe can make my cookies more moist cuz of the extra yolk and the melted butter (i would like to try imitate the monster cookie from the stores)
Went and made me some of these. Only replaced eggs with applesauce. Which I love much better. Added PB this time. And used Hershy Bar for the chocolate. Yea, I'm bad...🙄😆😊😁 Coconut sugar instead of Brown sugar. Actually the applesauce makes them. Yummy, chewy and soft. 😊
Can u pls make a lemon 🍋 cakes with lemon frosting flavor . I got a cake from nothing but bunt cakes , here in Dallas Tx, and I need some help making it at home , Would so appreciate this , Thank u !
After trying your carrot cake recipe , I am like “ I trust this girl and I am sure this is going to be delicious 😂 “ I want to add peanut better, how much should I add and it it going to change the texture ? “ should I add more flour if I added peanut better ?
Hmmm that sounds good but I’m not quite sure how adding peanut butter to this recipe will go. You will definitely have to make some other alterations but without having tried it I can’t say for sure what they would be. Sorry 😔
@@SugarSpunRun i actual tried your recipe and added 1 ripe banana, I only used 2 eggs and also added 1 teaspoon of brewers yeast and another of flaxseeds. Using as lactation cookie bars. They came out super delicious!!!
You do a great job explaining the process of this recipe, and I am grateful for it. However, I miss the days of Julia Child, when one didn't have to be beautiful to host a successful cooking show.

I was just going to ask that same question. I don’t like thick bars so I will definitely make this recipe in a 9 x 13 pan!😃
Thanks for sharing the fact you used a 9x13 “ pan. I get so tired of people not putting that information in their recipes!!

@@SugarSpunRun THey're wonderful. I increased the recipe, so we'll be enjoying these for a few days. :~)
Does it work with out corn starch?
It does. You may need a little more flour, but I’d recommend using the cornstarch. It really helps make these bars soft and chewy
I made them with out cornstarch and they still turned out great! Just brought them to my bible study and EVERYONE LOVED THEM
Very good
Could these be possibly made with either gluten-free all purpose flour of with oat flour for those who can't have gluten?
I haven't tried it, but a gluten-free 1:1 flour should work 😊
Can we possibly use instant oats if we don’t have old fashioned?
You can it will just alter the texture a bit.

Can I make this with a chocolate bottom like those granola bars?
Hmm you may want to drizzle it on top afterwards.

I can't believe no one mentioned using raisins! Or other dried fruit.. I will try with raisins and let you know how it comes out :D
I find people have a love/hate relationship with raisins. I hope you love them! 😊

I'd like to add peanut butter. What do you recommend for the measurement please???
Unfortunately without having tried it I can't say for sure.
Thank you! I will just experiment then😊😋
What happens if you use quick oats??
It'll change the texture a bit. They won't be quite as chewy.
Thank you. In the video you say 1/4 tea of bp . Written it says 1/2 tea??
Sorry about that! Always follow the written recipe 🙂
Could u do only butterscotch chips and it says u need cornstarch in UK, do I need it then?
You could do butterscotch chips only. I really recommend corn starch but if you don’t have it you can use a touch extra flour. 😊
Ok thank you, I made them and my family Loved them!
Can you use vegetable oil instead of melted butter?
For flavor I really recommend the butter. 😊
Is it possible to add in fresh apples into this?
It could add some moisture and make them a bit more cakey, but I think it'll work. ☺️
Can i use white sugar only?
You will lose some flavor but they will still turn out. :)
Can i use this recipe to a normal cookie (not cookie bar)?
I would recommend using my oatmeal cookie recipe for the best oatmeal cookies. 😊
Sugar Spun Run thank you im just wondering if this recipe can make my cookies more moist cuz of the extra yolk and the melted butter (i would like to try imitate the monster cookie from the stores)
