      Do they come out hard or soft ?

    • @mcsmama8619
      @mcsmama8619 4 ปีที่แล้ว +45

      @@misscandy84 Somewhere in between. Without any leavening agents like eggs or baking powder, they don't get at all puffy, but they are not crunchy hard. Without any butter to make them spread out, they keep the shape you form when you put them in the oven, so I suppose you could technically alter their texture a little bit by either making them thicker or thinner when you form them. Also, the moisture content will likely decide their firmness, so I would think if you want them a bit chewier, I'd take them out of the oven sooner.

    Thank you for this recipe ! They turned out surprisingly good. I would like to give the measurements in grams :
    60 gr.chocolate chips
    135 gr. oat meal
    Bake in 180 C. oven until set
    In my opinion they taste better when warm.

    Phenomenal!! I used old fashioned oats and let them set in bananas @ 20 min. Also added 1 tsp vanilla extract, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1 TBS Maple syrup, pinch of salt and 1 TBS Peanut Butter protein powder. Delish!!

  • @xenacakes

    Made 2 batches of these yesterday. They took 5 mins to prep and 15m to bake. I added pinch of salt, 1/4 tsp vanilla, and sprinkled some cinnamon and nutmeg in each batch. One batch was with chocolate chips, the other with walnuts and raisins. Both came out great. Such a delicious, hearty, portable breakfast or snack! My family loved them! Thanks for the video.

      Oooh I need to do raisins, and I have some diced pecans to use up.
      How much walnut and raisin did you add to the base recipe?

    • @xenacakes
      @xenacakes ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@angelpipessdI usually eyeball it but it's pretty much equivalent to the measurement of the chocolate chips in her video. So if you're doing 2 bananas and 1.5 cups of oats per her recipe, I'd add 1/2 cup of raisins and crushed walnuts (total) as a starting point and adjust to your liking. Hope this helps.

    These are amazing as a foundation recipe. For me personally, I love getting the best bang for my buck, so.... I did everything in the same measurements as above except I added three tbsp of pb fit (protein peanut butter powder), 1 tbsp of flax seeds, 1 tbsp of chia seeds, 1 tbsp of honey, and a pinch of cinnamon, Stevia sweetener, and sea salt. I didn't need to add any other wet ingredients and they turned out perfectly chewy. I baked 15 semi thick cookies taking up a whole baking sheet at 350 for 15 minutes and then another 5 minutes with the oven turned off. Great warm or chilled. Depends on your texture preference but this was PERFECT to me nicely browned and chewy! Thanks for the recipe, I plan to get even more creative with my next batch. Love me some coconut, but maybe not combined with peanut butter! Cheers! 💗🍪

    Gotta make these!!! In the meantime I used the same exact concept that you used for this recipe but converted them to oatmeal/vegetable burger. You can use any cooked veggie you like just as long as when they are mashed they have the same consistency as the mashed bananas in this recipe. I used what I had on hand - mashed fava beans mixed with mashed zucchini. To this I added the 1 1/2 cups of dry oatmeal (I used rolled oats only). Spices: 1 tablespoon of soy sauce plus onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, & McCormick's Italian Seasoning to taste. Mix well, form the burgers and bake them as you bake your cookies. I also tried them directly in an oiled skillet on the stove top which I liked better . I'm new to your channel so I'm not sure if you follow any dietary restrictions that would prevent you from using some of the ingredients I used, but they ended up tasting very good! Just thought I'd share!

      I didn't realize that I got some replies to my message - funny how TH-cam sometimes does not alert me! I just prepared these burgers yesterday and froze them! This time my veggie of choice was an eggplant (I peeled, chopped and microwaved it). People who don't want to cook the veggies can place them in a food processor and mash them that way. As long as you have a thickish mash of vegetables to which you add the oatmeal. Did any of you try this? If so, how did they turn out?

    Made these last night with only rolled oats bc it's all I had on hand and let the oat and banana mixture soak for 30 minutes. I then added some peanut butter that I melted in the microwave to make mixing it easier and the Chocolate chips. I baked mine a smidge longer bc of the added peanut butter and they turned out AMAZING.
    Thank you for this base recipe. Going to omit /he chocolate chips next time for blueberries for my daughter bc she loved these.

      @Chyna Whyte - thinking out loud here, but using oats as a base with a mashable second ingredient to allow the starch (?) to bind makes for an interesting thought experiment for more than just a treat... wildly imagining flavors here: (1) avocado with picante spices [avo-toast was the rage at one point] (2) apple [sauce] with cinnamon [classic breakfast flavors] (3) mango and lime [tart and tart] (4) lightly scrambled eggs and bacon bits (5) tomato and sausage... or maybe I shouldn't think about food so close to dinner time.

    You are my favorite channel! I made a batch of these while the kids were doing their morning routine, so easy! Then my oldest daughter asked for no chocolate chips please (doesn’t sound like a child of mine, but what can I do?!). I quickly whipped up a second batch with raisins and cinnamon! I’m thinking in the back of my mind “this is a lot of cookies…”, but they we already almost gone 3 hours later. Youngest likes the chocolate ones, oldest likes the raisin ones and the twins like them both and ate SOOO many! My son even had one in his hand as he was pulling his mitts on and getting in the van! Two batches at 7 am, only 8 cookies left at 9:30. So many happy tummies this morning, and this mama feels empowered because those were fantastic ingredients! (We might try protein powder in a later batch, we’ll see). Thanks for the “start here and make it yours” idea. Love your channel!

    Thank you for this easy recipe. I think of it more as a granola treat. My husband loved them and I followed the instructions except that I formed more of a round ball that I placed onto the sheet and then flattened them into the same thickness. It helped me get consistent size before I flattened any of them. I used parchment paper so it was easy to transfer everything into a storage container after baking with them on it, folding the excess paper and putting the remaining ones on it. So simple and easy and will make again. I will reduce the chips to 1/4 cup since there were too many that wouldn’t adhere. If I were to substitute nuts or dried fruit, I think that they would need to be finely chopped as well. Thanks again for sharing.

      racketman2u -?????? What! Nothing, it’s not like male are in the middle of milk production. Females aren’t either. It activates after labor. So, to answer your question. Nothing, maybe just a good trip to the toliet. Oatmeal has many benefial traits and it has lots of fiber. Fiber helps poop 💩

      Tessa Quiloña I just eyeballed it bc I like a lot of cinnamon, but I think it was roughly just over 1/2 tsp.

    I would have to add a little Peanut Butter. Everything is better with peanut butter in my world.

      I made them but omitted the choc chips & just used bananas, peanut butter & oats. I eat one every morning. Has everything you need: fiber, protein & fruit

    Walnuts are so so good in these. Once you start making these you will not stop they are excellent and satisfying. Don't skimp on the chocolate chips but buy they right kind. A good substitute for chocolate chips are either raisins or dried cranberries it's good to experiment with ingredients but also nuts are good like pistachios
