EP6: DIY SKiff Update (Bateau SK14) - Mounting the Motor / Setting the Grab Rail

- In this video I am back in the garage working on my DIY Skiff, the Bateau SK14. I spend some time mounting the motor so that I can determine where my grab rail should be mounted. Once that is determined, I drill the pilot holes and mark the location of the feet so that I can mark them on my marine mat template. I also drill the pilot holes for my front hatch. Enjoy the video!

The anticipation is killing me! Looks really good though!
Thanks! I'm getting close!
Thank you! I knew that I remember seeing the video but it was at the end of the video that you talked about the motor and that's why I couldn't find it.
The bull reds are waiting on you brother. Git er done. Looks good👍
Looking good 👍
Thank you!
Skinny water has your name😉
Looks bad ass
Thanks man! I'm happy with how it's turning out. I can't wait to see it with the Marine Mat on there!
Hi Schwind! I thought I remember you having a video on receiving your motor for the skiff but I don't see it in the video list. Where did you order the motor from? Thanks!
I bought my motor from onlineoutboards.com/
it was a great experience!
Beautiful! Can you tell me where you purchased the grab rail?
Thank you! I bought the grab rail from BoatBuilderCentral.com
Looks amazing brother! Hey, you gonna run the beach during Sharkathon?
Man, I appreciate that! No, I probably won't be around during Sharkathon. I'll most likely be deer hunting that weekend.
@@SchwindOutdoors Things are a little slow at the ranch, I thought I would take advantage of the mullet run and the Pompano is kicking off as well. Be safe out there.
I'm looking at the forecast and wondering if I really want to shoot a deer in 99 degrees. Maybe I will stay here! Pompano sounds like a lot of fun!
@@SchwindOutdoors yes, my dilemma every bow season is temp, luckily for me, I hunt where I live or 25 minutes south of my home at my late brothers place and I can get deer on ice quickly. I will not shoot a hog in this heat.
Thank you! Didn't you use to have a video on your channel about the motor? Or did I just imagine that? lol
You're welcome! Here is the video where I talk about the motor. th-cam.com/video/uVAvtFiugD8/w-d-xo.html
Did you order your tohatsu local or online? Looking at repowering my j16
I ordered mine online from OnlineOutboards.com
Should have moved the grab rail up farther and left the tiller extension longer, cause looks like you’re gonna have a lot of weight in the back, you and motor.
I didn't have any room to move it up further. The plans called for blocking underneath the deck to give the grabrail something to attach to. I set my grabrail at the forward most edge of that blocking. Between the ice chest sitting at the front and the amount of buoyancy foam in the hull, I think it will ride just fine.
