TeruTeru is literally the definition of the term degenerate male. I think he would be dead within the first 5 minutes while I feel like Yasuhiro would be running try to hide.

Personally, I think part of the reason why Tenko doesn’t have a real reason for hating men is as simple as the fact she’s a foil to Angie. A lot of people point out the Logic vs Emotion theme in the game, and point out Kokichi and Kaito, but not really how Tenko and Angie are pretty much the exact same thing. Rather than Kokichi and Kaito being an influence on Shuichi and the expression of logic vs emotion, Tenko and Angie work as a foil to one another to influence Himiko. Tenko is clearly the emotional one, and they make this obvious by her personality and backstory. The temper tantrums as a child, her gullibility and naivety, her defensiveness over Himiko in Trial 2 despite having absolutely no proof she didn’t do it, the essence of her character is that she’s overly emotional and isn’t very prone to logical thoughts. Thus, her very prevalent hatred of males is based solely off what she was taught, and her emotional reaction to that. She never questions the reasoning behind her teachings, her prejudice or anything, just goes by how she feels. Same could be said about her feelings towards Himiko in general, she saw her, felt she was cute and kind of just attached herself to her from there. EDIT: YESSS THE PART ABOUT KOKICHI CALLING OUT HIMIKO. I WAS CHEERING HIM ON SO HARDD I hated Himiko for a while because oh my god... Tenko is so precious. It’s also blatantly obvious they only used Tenko and Angie to give Himiko character development. And honestly, I prefer both Tenko and Angie’s characters to Himiko herself.

Nice favorite character my favorite character is Sayaka Maizono for many reasons 1. Sayaka was actually the first character that got me into Danganronpa 2. I truly like her design (for as standard as it is I think it kinda speaks on who she is as a person and how to an extent doesn’t think much her status) 3. She seems like a very nice person. Also I really love her smile 4. One of many characters I still miss (a lot) 5. She’s best girl (IMO)
You should make some character videos about all the people that nobody ever gives any love to, like I don't think anyone is made a video about hifumi, 11037 etc I like those type of characters the happy, more light-hearted characters like ibuki. Tenko is AWESOME. Also, I agree with your point about people not looking at who she is. I feel the same way about one of the most hated characters, best girl Angie Yonaga. She is NOT a cult leader, she is NOT insane (well kind of), and she has so much more to her than religion and art. Also she's really cute. She's the reason I have more emotional control. I jst imagine her hugging me whenever I'm upset. And remember, opinions can change. You don't have to keep hating Angie, just find out more about her. Kokichi went from my top 10 to my least favorite once I found out how mean he was to best boy Gonta, and I like Toko slightly more ever since I created a character concept that could relate to her.
YES ANGIE IS A GREAT CHARACTER 😭 it really sucks that so many people write her off as creepy, she was a really entertaining character and the student council plotline is one of my favs thanks to her :’)

Tenko is also my favourite danganronpa character and this points well why(although, I would change the like a 'child' parts to autistic bc it makes more sense for me as one) and I made an analysis on her earlier this year that has so many points you touched upon it's uncanny... and I really don't get the hatred for her. Partially I think most is caused by the script change because her 'degenerate males' line was just a wordplay in the original... She is the kindest character in the cast and also treats everyone respectfully(specially in the original), and genuinely tries to do her best always... I also agree that she is bi with female lean and I often get scared to say that bc people get really defensive about the love hotel not being canon but it certainly is in terms of character exploration. I once mentioned this in a local groupchat and was chased out of it with the backlash and had people saying I read her character wrong even when people agreed with most of my points on my really deep analysis on her but that bit, it's really weird.

@@SensitiveDeku yeah, in the original she uses -san(extremely respectful way of speaking) to everyone and is super polite to all characters, treating everyone about the same(explicit when she throws both Shuichi and Himiko in the dojo and offers the same advice). The degenerate male line was a wordplay on danshi(boys) where she took the shi character on the term(because it's the same as the -ko in her name) and substituted it with the death character because it can sound the same and also because she didn't want to share part of her name with men. So it's more like that Menace pun many fans translated it at! And yeah, it was good in a way bc it got me out of a toxic environment... Thank you for replying! Edit: and she also never threatens any men with death, only threatening to hurl them away at most. The localization made her more violent.
i can't believe i didn't find this video sooner. thank you, tenko best (v3) girl and the amount of hate she gets in the western fandom is kind of ridiculous. a lot of the things people say about her are either wrong (ie. completely ignoring that the person she had the most beef with out of the other characters was ANOTHER GIRL) or maybe just unfortunate byproducts of the localization (she speaks VERY formally and disciplined in japanese, not unlike kiibo and ishimaru but with less complicated vocabulary, which is definitely connected with her talent. so, really no matter what bitchy thing she is saying about guys, she inherently comes off as respectful, and even uses honorifics for the male students too). i also think people mix up the "degenerate male" voice line being used way more than it should with like, how many times it actually appears in her dialogue, which tbf if already a lot but still. people don't want to talk about her character, they just want to argue about whether she's gay or bi, which also pisses me off. like plz.

like I said you can headcanon tenko as a lesbian but she’s not confirmed to be a lesbian, and as I said before she SHOWS she can be attracted to men as seen in her love suite with shuichi. the love hotel’s aren’t canon but they see shuichi as their ideal lover. if she was lesbian she would have referred to shuichi with she/her pronouns, no? she doesn’t do that, so it’s safest to say she’s bisexual. i understand people wanting lesbian representation, but you shouldn’t have to strip people of bisexual representation in order to do that. especially since we barely get any bi rep in any media. about the tenko sexuality discourse section. i find it unfair that you directly made sure to say that head cannoning tenko as a lesbian is never confirmed in game yet you dont say the same thing about her being bi, and totally ignore that to say later on that she shows hints of being bi. you even said it that at the end of the day tenko's sexuality is unknown with only juzo being the only canon sexuality in the series, you really should of said that instead of you implying a bi headcanon because that is what it looks like. i agree that discourse from this topic sucks however it's one of those things in the fandom that you can't exactly just past by without someone commenting on. however in the future you should probably say her sexuality is unknown and leave it as that since like i said, as an outsider it looks as tho you are trying to push a bi head canon on her by singling out the lesbian head canon when its unknown. plus not saying you do this as i don't know you but the amount of insults/hate/homophobic comments that get made when someone says tenko is lesbian by people who canon bi tenko is stupidly high, this is something that can't be avoided but it doesn't help that alot of people i've seen who try to push a bi tenko head canon are homophobic/problematic/etc.

@@SensitiveDeku yeah, in the original she uses -san(extremely respectful way of speaking) to everyone and is super polite to all characters, treating everyone about the same(explicit when she throws both Shuichi and Himiko in the dojo and offers the same advice). The degenerate male line was a wordplay on danshi(boys) where she took the shi character on the term(because it's the same as the -ko in her name) and substituted it with the death character because it can sound the same and also because she didn't want to share part of her name with men. So it's more like that Menace pun many fans translated it at! And yeah, it was good in a way bc it got me out of a toxic environment... Thank you for replying!
Edit: and she also never threatens any men with death, only threatening to hurl them away at most. The localization made her more violent.

i can't believe i didn't find this video sooner. thank you, tenko best (v3) girl and the amount of hate she gets in the western fandom is kind of ridiculous. a lot of the things people say about her are either wrong (ie. completely ignoring that the person she had the most beef with out of the other characters was ANOTHER GIRL) or maybe just unfortunate byproducts of the localization (she speaks VERY formally and disciplined in japanese, not unlike kiibo and ishimaru but with less complicated vocabulary, which is definitely connected with her talent. so, really no matter what bitchy thing she is saying about guys, she inherently comes off as respectful, and even uses honorifics for the male students too). i also think people mix up the "degenerate male" voice line being used way more than it should with like, how many times it actually appears in her dialogue, which tbf if already a lot but still.
people don't want to talk about her character, they just want to argue about whether she's gay or bi, which also pisses me off. like plz.

like I said you can headcanon tenko as a lesbian but she’s not confirmed to be a lesbian, and as I said before she SHOWS she can be attracted to men as seen in her love suite with shuichi. the love hotel’s aren’t canon but they see shuichi as their ideal lover. if she was lesbian she would have referred to shuichi with she/her pronouns, no? she doesn’t do that, so it’s safest to say she’s bisexual. i understand people wanting lesbian representation, but you shouldn’t have to strip people of bisexual representation in order to do that. especially since we barely get any bi rep in any media. about the tenko sexuality discourse section. i find it unfair that you directly made sure to say that head cannoning tenko as a lesbian is never confirmed in game yet you dont say the same thing about her being bi, and totally ignore that to say later on that she shows hints of being bi. you even said it that at the end of the day tenko's sexuality is unknown with only juzo being the only canon sexuality in the series, you really should of said that instead of you implying a bi headcanon because that is what it looks like. i agree that discourse from this topic sucks however it's one of those things in the fandom that you can't exactly just past by without someone commenting on. however in the future you should probably say her sexuality is unknown and leave it as that since like i said, as an outsider it looks as tho you are trying to push a bi head canon on her by singling out the lesbian head canon when its unknown. plus not saying you do this as i don't know you but the amount of insults/hate/homophobic comments that get made when someone says tenko is lesbian by people who canon bi tenko is stupidly high, this is something that can't be avoided but it doesn't help that alot of people i've seen who try to push a bi tenko head canon are homophobic/problematic/etc.
i wasn’t singling out the lesbian headcanon at all, it was only brought up in reference to my experiences with seeing people say it’s wrong to ship tenko with any men because they feel she’s a canon lesbian. i personally do see tenko as bi but that’s just my hc which is why I made it a point to say in the video her sexuality is unknown. these videos aren’t made from an informative or 100% analytical perspective either; they’re opinion videos, meant as a way for me to share my thoughts about these characters and this series. SO if there’s any bias on my side it’s to be expected as I never said I was approaching these videos objectively. i get what you’re saying though, i definitely don’t want people to feel like i’m invalidating their opinions or pushing an agenda so i’ll definitely work on my wording in the future.❣️
