I think part of what people like about her is how well her character bounces off of Kokichi whenever they have their banters. While Miu is definitely my least favorite girl in V3 (I don't hate her; she just happens to be the least likable), I do at least enjoy those moments. The most stand out would have to be when Kokichi called her a "c--- dumpster."

that’s actually a REALLY good point that I never thought about, celeste really did take advantage of hifumi and a lot of people (even me up until this point!) don’t really take into consideration that hifumi, in some ways, was a victim too. i might do an analysis on him sometime in the future when i revisit the first game! :)
Its really sad seeing teruteru not being able see his mother again, the only person that truly mattered in his life, i grew up without a mom, and since my sibling were often out doing there own things, i went head began helping around the house, that strived me into becoming the person i am today.

Something that I think is worth mentioning as a positive for Teruteru is a detail I don't often see people mention: his vocal performance. Every DR character benefits greatly from their voice actors' performances (that's why the recast in the anime's dub rubbed a lot of us the wrong way), and the Ultimate Chef is no exception. Todd Haberkorn (whom you might recognize from basically EVERY ANIME EVER) does his best to give Teruteru this slick, suave voice that really sells the character as someone doing his damndest to impress everyone and seem like he's got everything under control… and this makes his breakdowns the first trial all the more harrowing to watch. It's comical in some ways ("AVRIL LAVIGNE", anyone?) but on the whole he really sells Teru's horror at his impending demise and his desperation to see his mother one last time, all the while his natural rural drawl breaks through as he's too desperate/anguished to keep up his "trendy big-city playboy" façade.

I agree so much with your reasoning, Teruteru isnt only my favourite from Danganronpa 2, but in the whole franchise. He's such a sweet and lovable guy, sure he can be a bit perverted but that isn't the only thing to him. Like as you said Miu so much worse than him. His backstory is so sad to me and I cried when he screamed mama in his class trial and throught his whole execution. I love his design too, it fits his character so much and I just think hes amazing. People finding him ugly is absurd to him. I saw him in an edit and before I even watched Danganronpa 2 I fell in love with him. And his personality is just as good as his design. He's a great character and I wish we saw more of him

The main thing that bugs me about Teruteru is that when we first meet him he was about to get Sonia to “suck on his loins.” Teruteru was really interesting though and his past is really interesting, his murder motivation was pretty valid and he’s probably underrated. It’s really hard to break that first impression he put on me, but he’s definitely grown on me since then.

They hate him because of his horniness and dirty jokes. I mean, trying to make Sonia suck his loins wasn't a very good first impression, they could have definitely made a better job with his introduction. Due to that, he is usually hated right off the bat despite how cute his design might be. Some people empathize with him when he explains his backstory with his mom at the end, but a lot of other people don't. It's truly a shame

I actually was watching a dr2 playthrough before and ever sice that introduction sequence she started skipping all his lines and even laughed at his backstory. I couldn't take that hate anymore and that's the reason why I came to this video 😅 I truly love Teruteru I just wished that they showed some of the parts of him that are more relatable and that show how great he truly is instead of relying that much on the dirty jokes, I mean, I liked the dirty jokes and laughed at some of them, that's true but I think that knowing he had so litte screentime they could have made it a little more diverse. A dirty joke here, a random comment about his siblings there, another dirty comment, mention the family diner, his mom or how bad his father was, etc.

I actually love how you pointed Miu's actions in the game alone. And what I mean is that how you actually pointed her actions of how she compared Ryoma's corpse and groping Kadae's breast in the game and etc. I also loved how you really point out some small detail in TeruTeru's life.
this video sums it all up perfectly!! i recently started to like teruteru even more, even though i thought he was kinda annoying and inappropriate at the beginning, but especially during the ftes and the first trial, i realised hes more than just a perverted character, hes actually sweet and funny asf!! i was really sad when he got executed and his story about his mom was really touching, especially because ive always had a close relationship with my mom too and i have a soft spot for stories like this.. Its a shame he was like a throwaway character, when i truly believe he had the chance for character development and i just wish he had more screentime! Okay so, I have a love hate relationship with this guy. I hate that he's a low key predator, but I hate the perverted characters in this series (he's my favourite pervert in the series, it used to be hifumi but I'll get to that later) and I wasn't going to give him an exception. However, I am obsessed with this man, he both manages to be 6th least favourite and one of my favourites at the same time. When I was new to the fandom and didn't really like it I could recognise this guy's talent straight away, he was one of the only characters I remember super well. I didn't know his talent but I could recognise him straight away, I didn't know his name so I just called him "chef boy". Soon after I got more into the fandom and learnt his personality. Here comes my hate relationship with him. He was just a pervert to me, all I knew was he was a pervert and a chef, I hated perverts and (as horrible as this sounds) the way he looked didn't help him After a lot of hating this dude I one day found a tik tok of him. It was ranking the dr2 characters. They didn't put him at the bottom saying "he's cute". At the time I was thinking this person maybe wasn't aware of who he really is but over time I began to realise, God damn it he's adorable! So I began to dig into his character and here comes the love relationship. Everything you said in the video is exactly what I think. He's got so much character and potential that just kinda got discarded. And it's not like i just decided I like him because someone else said I should, I have had many people try and convince me to like mikan and miu and I have never ever liked them no matter how much backstory they throw at me because those characters are just really weird and make me super sick when I think of them. Meanwhile there's teruteru who manages to be a terrible human while also being an interesting redeemable character with an absolutely amazing design. LIKE LOOK AT HIS APRON AND HIS LITTLE HAT! AND HIS CHUBBY CHEEKS! AND HIS SNAZZY HAIR!!! the dude just looks awesome (and I love drawing him). He's part of my danganronpa maladaptive day dream world (I won't explain that but to sum it up it's a thing some people do where they day dream about a world, in my case danganronpa following fuyuhiko as the main character because he's my favourite character) and he turns up a lot. Also have you seen his ultimate despair design, I'm pretty much sure he has an axe, THAT IS SO COOL! anyway just thought I'd share this because I could

In my opinion I don’t really think people should compare Miu and Teruteru because they’re both vulgar. They just act very different from each other. I do really agree that people can be so hypocritical when it comes to disliking Teruteru especially when they like characters who arguably act very insensitive
I think I like teruteru a lot more than the average DR fan. The only thing that *really* undercuts his character to me and that didn‘t get mentioned in his video is the end of his final FTE. I don‘t know if a localiser messed up or if it is a faithful translation, but the whole „special riceball“ followed by Hajime getting woozy feels very „did he just drug us?“. But at the same time, teruteru respects food so much, that literally doesn‘t make sense for his character…
i feel safe here! i also like teruteru, he is comfy character and just, i love funny characters. he is a pervert? yes he is, but so is souda and miu, and no one complains. people should also acknowledge that isn't all there is to him. he is a nice guy (in a positive way), he is talented in what he does (obviously), he cares for his family, he felt remorse for his actions (i don't remember clearly, please let me know if i am wrong)

I was playing danganronpa 2 and saw that he was only trying to trick Sonia never touched as her so I got to attracted to what teruteru story might be and he ended up being my favorite

My girlfriend recently turned my opinion on Teruteru around. He’s her second favorite character in SDR2 after Nagito. I shared this with her and she loved it!
I think the one thing that bothers me about Teruteru is that he’s a character with so much legitimately interesting background and personality that is constantly overshadowed by his horniness. I never liked Miu, no offense. She felt too boiled down to the same jokes and tropes. What disappointed me about Teruteru is that, unless you consciously dig, he’s only a horndog. He has so much potential for his heart to show through in ways that parody the tropes, but instead he mimics them until you spent like 3 events with him. He deserves better character development outside of excavating his backstory, because without it, he’s almost entirely depicted as an embarrassing trope when the whole point was that he was a trope because he didn’t know how else to be… Rant over lol my bad

I felt really bad for him after Celeste tricked him to killing Kiyondo because he "did" nasty things to her and Hifumi wanted to protect her. Like why would someone lie about that? And I still see people love Celeste, but hate Hifumi and I just don't understand. I like both characters, but you know thats just messed up on Celeste's part
that’s actually a REALLY good point that I never thought about, celeste really did take advantage of hifumi and a lot of people (even me up until this point!) don’t really take into consideration that hifumi, in some ways, was a victim too. i might do an analysis on him sometime in the future when i revisit the first game! :)

Yes! I'm so glad this video was made! I really like TeruTeru and I was pretty bummed that the majority of the fanbase hated him. I see some Miu fans say things like: "Oh, Miu is a pervert, but unlike Hifumi, TeruTeru, and Souda, that's not all she is!" And that especially would make me upset just because people wouldn't even try to look into TeruTeru as a character. He's extremely underrated and I just wanna hug him.

Something that I think is worth mentioning as a positive for Teruteru is a detail I don't often see people mention: his vocal performance.
Every DR character benefits greatly from their voice actors' performances (that's why the recast in the anime's dub rubbed a lot of us the wrong way), and the Ultimate Chef is no exception. Todd Haberkorn (whom you might recognize from basically EVERY ANIME EVER) does his best to give Teruteru this slick, suave voice that really sells the character as someone doing his damndest to impress everyone and seem like he's got everything under control… and this makes his breakdowns the first trial all the more harrowing to watch. It's comical in some ways ("AVRIL LAVIGNE", anyone?) but on the whole he really sells Teru's horror at his impending demise and his desperation to see his mother one last time, all the while his natural rural drawl breaks through as he's too desperate/anguished to keep up his "trendy big-city playboy" façade.

Teruteru isnt only my favourite from Danganronpa 2, but in the whole franchise. He's such a sweet and lovable guy, sure he can be a bit perverted but that isn't the only thing to him. Like as you said Miu so much worse than him. His backstory is so sad to me and I cried when he screamed mama in his class trial and throught his whole execution. I love his design too, it fits his character so much and I just think hes amazing. People finding him ugly is absurd to him. I saw him in an edit and before I even watched Danganronpa 2 I fell in love with him. And his personality is just as good as his design. He's a great character and I wish we saw more of him

The main thing that bugs me about Teruteru is that when we first meet him he was about to get Sonia to “suck on his loins.” Teruteru was really interesting though and his past is really interesting, his murder motivation was pretty valid and he’s probably underrated. It’s really hard to break that first impression he put on me, but he’s definitely grown on me since then.

Teruteru is definitely one of my favorite characters out of the whole Danganronpa series, I really don't get why so many people hate him, he's adorable!!
They hate him because of his horniness and dirty jokes. I mean, trying to make Sonia suck his loins wasn't a very good first impression, they could have definitely made a better job with his introduction. Due to that, he is usually hated right off the bat despite how cute his design might be. Some people empathize with him when he explains his backstory with his mom at the end, but a lot of other people don't. It's truly a shame

I actually was watching a dr2 playthrough before and ever sice that introduction sequence she started skipping all his lines and even laughed at his backstory. I couldn't take that hate anymore and that's the reason why I came to this video 😅 I truly love Teruteru I just wished that they showed some of the parts of him that are more relatable and that show how great he truly is instead of relying that much on the dirty jokes, I mean, I liked the dirty jokes and laughed at some of them, that's true but I think that knowing he had so litte screentime they could have made it a little more diverse. A dirty joke here, a random comment about his siblings there, another dirty comment, mention the family diner, his mom or how bad his father was, etc.

this video sums it all up perfectly!! i recently started to like teruteru even more, even though i thought he was kinda annoying and inappropriate at the beginning, but especially during the ftes and the first trial, i realised hes more than just a perverted character, hes actually sweet and funny asf!!
i was really sad when he got executed and his story about his mom was really touching, especially because ive always had a close relationship with my mom too and i have a soft spot for stories like this..
Its a shame he was like a throwaway character, when i truly believe he had the chance for character development and i just wish he had more screentime!

Okay so, I have a love hate relationship with this guy. I hate that he's a low key predator, but I hate the perverted characters in this series (he's my favourite pervert in the series, it used to be hifumi but I'll get to that later) and I wasn't going to give him an exception. However, I am obsessed with this man, he both manages to be 6th least favourite and one of my favourites at the same time. When I was new to the fandom and didn't really like it I could recognise this guy's talent straight away, he was one of the only characters I remember super well. I didn't know his talent but I could recognise him straight away, I didn't know his name so I just called him "chef boy".
Soon after I got more into the fandom and learnt his personality. Here comes my hate relationship with him. He was just a pervert to me, all I knew was he was a pervert and a chef, I hated perverts and (as horrible as this sounds) the way he looked didn't help him
After a lot of hating this dude I one day found a tik tok of him. It was ranking the dr2 characters. They didn't put him at the bottom saying "he's cute". At the time I was thinking this person maybe wasn't aware of who he really is but over time I began to realise, God damn it he's adorable!
So I began to dig into his character and here comes the love relationship. Everything you said in the video is exactly what I think. He's got so much character and potential that just kinda got discarded. And it's not like i just decided I like him because someone else said I should, I have had many people try and convince me to like mikan and miu and I have never ever liked them no matter how much backstory they throw at me because those characters are just really weird and make me super sick when I think of them.
Meanwhile there's teruteru who manages to be a terrible human while also being an interesting redeemable character with an absolutely amazing design. LIKE LOOK AT HIS APRON AND HIS LITTLE HAT! AND HIS CHUBBY CHEEKS! AND HIS SNAZZY HAIR!!! the dude just looks awesome (and I love drawing him). He's part of my danganronpa maladaptive day dream world (I won't explain that but to sum it up it's a thing some people do where they day dream about a world, in my case danganronpa following fuyuhiko as the main character because he's my favourite character) and he turns up a lot.
Also have you seen his ultimate despair design, I'm pretty much sure he has an axe, THAT IS SO COOL!

Also it's sorta bad that people can like Korekiyo miu and Tsmugi who sis exactly the same things but hate teruteru (we all know its because they have light skin, thin body, traditionally pretty faces and are decently tall, meanwhile, in the nicest way I can say, people dislike him because he has dark skin, he's over weight, has a cartoonic face and is the second shortest male character. Even if it's not on purpose there is definitely that involved)
And yes I think he's my favourite ultimate despair design because of the axe, LIKE IT'S SO COOL I CANT EVEN EXPLAIN

In my opinion I don’t really think people should compare Miu and Teruteru because they’re both vulgar. They just act very different from each other. I do really agree that people can be so hypocritical when it comes to disliking Teruteru especially when they like characters who arguably act very insensitive

I think I like teruteru a lot more than the average DR fan. The only thing that *really* undercuts his character to me and that didn‘t get mentioned in his video is the end of his final FTE. I don‘t know if a localiser messed up or if it is a faithful translation, but the whole „special riceball“ followed by Hajime getting woozy feels very „did he just drug us?“.
But at the same time, teruteru respects food so much, that literally doesn‘t make sense for his character…
I’ve always thought he was the personality of v2, he made the game so much fun and made me laugh sometimes. Teruteru is a good character indeed.

I think the one thing that bothers me about Teruteru is that he’s a character with so much legitimately interesting background and personality that is constantly overshadowed by his horniness. I never liked Miu, no offense. She felt too boiled down to the same jokes and tropes. What disappointed me about Teruteru is that, unless you consciously dig, he’s only a horndog. He has so much potential for his heart to show through in ways that parody the tropes, but instead he mimics them until you spent like 3 events with him. He deserves better character development outside of excavating his backstory, because without it, he’s almost entirely depicted as an embarrassing trope when the whole point was that he was a trope because he didn’t know how else to be…
