very good video and i agree
I think they were criticizing rabid dangan fans to a certain extent though. Since the game has a lot of commentary on sequels/being a sequel, and fans expectations for it.

This is definitely one of you're most intelligent and thought provoking videos to date. Especially in relation to what said about consumer culture. I can imagine how a lesser person would use an opportunity that as an opportunity to start bad mouthing a specific Fandom or something to that effect. It's very refreshing to see someone who can explain their point of view (even if it may be unpopular) without resorting to being childish or argumentative. You are a mountain of respect, and a class act. 👏 👏

Thank you for putting into words why I find this ending so fascinating and now even more so! I’ve always found it to be an ending that makes me think and question it for ages. It left a huge impression and still does, and I honestly kinda wish more media would shake it up somehow and have the conviction to try something like this. Although many do dislike the ending I just can’t bring myself to at all, I love that it’s left open to interpretation rather than giving you a perfect clear truth. If it went with a very usual ending, DRv3 would not be living rent free in my mind sometimes well after it’s release. Rather than being a definitive “good” or “bad” finale I personally view it as just different. It’s a mix of what the game encapsulates and let’s people draw their own conclusions. It’s thought provoking, and as fiction I think that’s important. Those are just my thoughts though :D

Thank you for the comment!! Yes, I feel largely the same. V3's ending isn't as simple as being "just good" or "just bad". It's very nuanced, and I love it for that.
I'd love more games in this series since the formula is so fun, but I feel it'd upend some of the impact V3's ending has.

When shuichi was destroyed in the last chapter and claire le moon started i was so moved, i felt like him, feeling sad, inmovilizing, despair
Edit: hey i didnt know you have so little views, you totally did a great video! I love this game and this ending, and this video reminded me of that, so thanks

Amazing and well-structured video essay. Thank you...
For me personally, one of the most genius aspects of Danganronpa - culminating in V3 - is how it plays on the _perception_ of reality. And I never really understood why people don't like the "Fictional Hope's Peak" twist. The whole point of V3 is a huge 4th wall break on multiple levels to show both the IRL player and the characters within DR how influential fiction can be. By ending V3 with the notion of Ultimate Fiction it made me think about the previous DR episodes on a much deeper level. Had V3 ended in a different way, I think DR1 and DR2 would have been a lot less real in the end exactly because attention would not have been brought to the power of fiction in the real world. Had DRV3 not drawn this fine line between fiction and reality, players of the first two games would have experienced it / thought about it just as another game - which they may or may not have liked - that they played and one that told a good story. A story that can nevertheless convey moral/emotional/philosophical value. But that wasn't the purpose of DRV3.
It is well-known that some games break the 4th wall and speak directly to the player. This has a long tradition. Theater plays have been doing this for more than 100 years now. But these speak directly to the audience and generally make us reflect on ourselves, our society etc... DRV3 did a double twist on this by including it _within_ the setting of the game itself and by speaking only indirectly to the audience - because in a way the characters within DRV3 experience a 4th wall break as well - it truly blurs the line between reality and fiction. It makes us reflect on the larger picture: the nature of media and fiction itself.
I just find it beautiful that it managed to make something feel a lot more alive precisely by pointing out that it is _only_ a fiction...

Beautifully said. I'm glad you enjoyed my thoughts/analysis, as well. V3, to me, stands a litmus test of sorts as for how people engage with fiction/stories. If you understood the ending, and enjoyed it; then it's highly likely you paid more attention than those just breezing through the game. Of course, that isn't to say those who dislike it are stupid. Everyones got their own opinion, and that's fine. But it's the way people discuss the ending that shows how people engage with media, at least to me.

Wow... This is a really well constructed video. While I personally enjoyed the first danganronpa most, I'll say that your words on V3 have definitely altered my views a little. I think this is a really great way to end a game, and I'm glad you gave it good coverage.

Hi, first off I want to say thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy my content, and notice the hard work I put into it. As far as Discord, and stuff goes; I don't have a Discord for followers considering I'm still relatively fresh on TH-cam but if you wanted to chat, you can DM me on Twitter.
My twitter is Noyah_Cos and DMs should be open!
