it would be nice to have a tutorial showing how the dispersion ellipse is formed in enemies that are in a "diagonal" position. because horizontally it is quite obvious. we need examples and demonstrations of diagonal shots.
That's why you'll notice some voice changes every now and then. I'd say the first narrator didn't get to complete his part. Probably 'employee of the month' somewhere in Siberia, though.
But you can shoot ap at the superstructure and it will usually do full pen. But shooting at the bow or stern, it will most likely overpen since it has the thinnest armor and the shell still has not fuse.
I still have à question: If the superstructure has not much hp, then why does it eat so much (often more than 20k very easly for a Bismarck for example)in a battleship in à game?
In addition to the others in this thread, if a shell is large enough and has enough pen, it can penetrate beyond superstructure into lower parts of a ship causing more damage.
Can you make a new "How it works" for map spawning? I would like to know the WG game mechanics behind opening spawn selection before the battle starts. For example, Why are ship map spawns are so close to other team mates? Such as either AFK players or poor turn radius interfering with opening moves. Why are all radar ships on one side of the map for the team on spawn instead of balanced on the map for spawn? Why are DD's, CA's, or BB's not balanced on deployment? It appears they are all slanted in their deployment instead of spread out on the map for spawn deployment.
You can extrapolate HP from this video and look at the parts in armor viewer ingame, you also dont need exact numbers to see that citadel has 100%, hull has 80%, foward/aft around 5-10% superstructure 3-5% and casemate around 15%. Also the most vital part is answering the question "Why are my shells doing different damage over time?"

Also, WG used faster saturation (so I'd guess - less hp per section?) as a gimmick for French DDs so they could as well use it as a balancing factor. About "most vital part": they have already made a film (about one-two years ago) in which they gave an answer for that. So, what's the point of saying exactly the same thing twice? That's why I was expecting perhaps a bit more in-depth explanation.
4:22 as everyone who saw this very second, typically the red colored part in this part of the video just needs to be struck in order to get citadel points. I, as a player would’ve made such an objective only for destroyers and not for battleships since such objectives not just require too much accuracy at a long or medium distance, but also require too many attempts to just damage the citadel of the ship. I would have to say that objectives on ships such as battleships should be changed to an easier task for ship objectives to be finished.
So you say "without turning it into a oring simulator" but i for one would love to have a sim mode like ranked or arena where ships are as accurate as possible to ships that were actually built.
WT Players: Uh... eh... ah... ok, you've got us there. Honestly, WT naval mode is really boring once you get into larger ships. I like the PT boats, they match the fast paced action of other WT game modes but I gave up once I got to destroyers and had my 1918 vintage Clemson-class paired against post-war Soviet DDs with auto-loading guns.
Yeah, it's funny how WG is trying to put shade at WT by calling it a "boging simulator" (not directly but I mean, what else is out there?), while wows' active-player-count is going down and WT's is actually going up/stabilizing. You can really notice in the statistic during the CV-rework (I wonder why) and just recently during the Commander-rework (Gee, I freakin' wonder why) there was a huge shift in player counts where WT had to give players compensation because the servers where overcrowded. Yet people still claim WoWs to be "realistic", heck, even WG themselves call it a game with "realistic naval combat"... while having A FREAKING HITPOINT-SYSTEM... Both games have pros and conns and I can have fun in both but at least in WT I know exactly how the game works without videos like this beeing necessary, since they (in contrast to WG) give us all the numbers we need in gameplay. I mean just look at the HE-mess that is going on in WoT. Oh, by the way, don't get me wrong, WoWs is not hard to understand either but what I mean with the numbers is their inconsistency so that you can dev-strike a ship from 23km with an Ohio while completely missing another ship on 6km also with an Ohio.
where did they diss them I missed it pls. Nvm found it 0:58 and yeah they can diss them all they want they ahve the right because naval combat in War thunder is absolute trash while they've nailed it masterfully in wows. Though to give credit their ground forces are 10 times better than wargaming's. And frankly my 2 cents, the realistic approach could have worked if the graphics werent so scuffed. And also due to slow nature of naval combat, what should have been done is somehow involve the player in more of a crew role not as a hand of god controller. Probably too far much of a departure for War thunder and main problem is the graphics, but realistic naval multiplayer combat should be done like a ship in Sea of thieves, where you are actually multiple players controlling the ship. Again though thats huge project for different time

Full amount as in what? The full “hidden amount” (Like how Fuso here has 100k plus worth of hitpoints) doesn’t mean anything to the value of how much damage you do. If you were to destroy a Fuso that has it’s standard 57k amount of hitpoints till it is destroyed by yourself, you’ll rack up 57k damage score.

It doesn't work! I fired 2 volleys at a standing ship from 10km directly to the side and not a single hit. It doesn't matter how you aim only RNG determines DMG! That's all to Hitpoints
Now WG explain your broken broken models. Why is it when dodging shots and one single shell hits the tip of my bow does in break my rudder at the very back of my ship? Did one of the other ships that missed my ship curve under the water and go under my ship to the very back and then hit my rudder? Or why is it when again dodging and a single shell hits my smoke stack does it somehow after a full second delay suddenly do citadel damage? Did the shell magically go all the way down the smoke stack into the engine? I have seen some funny hits over the years playing tanks and ships, and yes tanks is just as bad. Not sure how many times I have been hit in the view port on my turret and some how my driver die. lol
But... from my understanding, alongside citadel hit; overpenetrations, fire, flooding and ramming also *don't* contribute towards either the 4 locations or "entire hull" hit points? It only applies to penetrating hits by shells, torpedoes, bombs and rockets?

It's because while you're farming your damage your team is losing.. but I got 200k dmg?.. a loser is a loser even if you did really well at it. WGing needs to reinforce the need for teamplay and support.
A shell hitting anywhere on the ship shouldn’t do damage to the citadel and there should be 2 health meters. 1 for the citadel and another for superstructure and non citadel areas
Pls fix the matchmaking system i always get paired with lvl 5 or 6 players while my enemies are on lvl 9 or legendary pls do fix the matchamking system it makes the game very unfair for some players including me

The one thing German Battleships can't achieve, taking enemy hp, dispersion, accuracy and shell grouping out the windowm. Real talk Legends German ships need a man battery buff ASAP they are so underwhelming.

The ellipse remains the same, only the position of the enemy boat within it is different.

How hit points work: You have them. You see Cv planes. Now you don't have them anymore.
