Apologies for this old navy joke.
Wish every game would do this. It is open and wonderful. Side note, I came to learn about flooding in ships in real life, how they handle it, and how they attempt to mitigate it.
You're in the wrong place then lol. This video series only talks about game mechanics, which are often very unrealistic. Real world ships are usually built with lots of separate watertight compartments. So if the hull is breached in one place, that section of the ship can be sealed off. Then, once the ship is no longer being shot at, workers can go and attempt to seal up the hole in the hull and pump water out of the compartment. But in many cases this is not possible, and the ship just has to sail (or be towed) back to port while partially flooded, where it can be put into a dry dock and repaired.
im always wondering why bigger ship took more damage from flooding compared than smaller ship? it doesn't make sense, that they are hit by the same torpedo, but different in flooding's damage taken. Bigger ship has better structural integrity, thus should be able to withstand the explosion better. Or did i missed something?
My question is, Why do CVs, who already have boatloads of advantages and near BB hit points take reduced damage from flooding? Are you saying they had better watertight compartmentalization than BBs? Being big floating tanks of petrol and explosives makes them resistant to flooding? Please, explain WoWs Official Channel.
I mean... that you only lose 10% HP for each instance of flooding on a DD as opposed to 20% doesn't matter that much considering you've just lost 99% of your HP already most of the time...
What if shells hitting somewhere below the waterline cause flooding ( ˘ ͜ʖ ˘) Also, I wish I can mount signals on my house during the monsoon season and maybe install modules as well.
死神様 They did, in the past. Destroyers got screwed over specifically, as well as many other ship types. Turned out having everyone aim at the waterline for citadels almost gave for many underwater hits and flooding. So they removed it i believe during Beta Testing.
Can we expect a rework of the liquidator acheivement? It seems near impossible to achieve now that floodings are single 30-40 second instances meaning you have to 1) find an enemy who has recently used damage control with a lot of HP left 2) hit that enemy with 2 torpedoes very soon after(so that damage control doesnt come off cooldown) and after all those unlikely circumstances, you have to 3) secure the kill after the full flooding timers has run their course. As it stands with the game today, this is extremely unlikely and as of the flooding rework, I have yet to see a single person get a liquidator, not that it was very common to begin with
Looking at that calculation at ~4:40 tells me that the Damage Control System is a complete waste of (in-game) money. Having the flooding chance reduced from roughly 57% to 55% means, that you'd have to be hit by roughly 50 torpedoes to have the DCS system prevent a single flooding.
I like where the new flooding is at right now. Not a death sentence if you don't have your damage control up, but still a nice damage source and debuff.
Soooo ... you're saying flooding is active for 30 secs on CVs and 40 secs on any other ship class ... and proceed to show a 60 second flooding timer three minutes later. GG
So what you are saying is that if you go down to the docks, drill a hole in a boat, it won't sink as long as water covers said hole? Displacement and water pressure are some useful topics to look into.
Dear War Gaming Please make a video explaining why an enemy ship's shells can hit below or above my ship and still magically hit me. Thank you, A WOWS player
Flooding right now feels pretty weak compared to fires. Low floor chances in CV torps plus that floods don't last very long now. Perhaps increase the base duration to 60 seconds and the percentage of damage on battleships by a single full duration flood to 30% to make Liquidator achievements more feasible.

I find it funny, the flooding dmg is opposite of the real world.
