I have faced the same issue but with sony xlr-k3m extension cable.
Had to replace my smallrig cage with neewer.

Actually there is one more issue with smallrig cage. If cage is used with 2143B arca plate you can not put Lense in the center :( it will be 2-3 shifted from center
