- In the dense jungles, they move like a panther waiting to pounce on its prey. Operating close to enemy lines, stealth is key to their survival. The Army's recce troopers or Scouts, are a bunch of highly trained and specialised, little known unit that provides valuable information on the enemy within an area of operation, information that can decide the outcome of a battle. In this video, we take a look at what the Scouts do and how they are trained to operate in a volatile and challenging environment.

@xian1234 The "old" field pack actually allows each trooper to bring more items. The field pack issued during BMT is meant for conventional units where they don't operate far from the safety and supply of the main force. Recce and Commandos use these field packs so they can bring a lot more stuff. They are suppose to be working alone and surviving with what they can carry.
As an NSmen , that used to work under HQ during NSF time that schools the recce training.

@LuciusCorneliusMacro i gotta agree that most other armies are much tougher and hats off to that man, but ya gotta realise tht the Singaporean Military is a conscription army where every man has to serve, nobody goes in with a gungho GI Joe mentality, most go in with the aim of just getting it over with. Most of them will also come out into the workforce and leave much of military life behind so theres no need for every serviceman to go hardcore.

Reminds me of good ol days in BRC...my time we were carrying recce load with the super old small packs...and even then some crazy dude decided to carry along a full jerry can of water in his pack for the whole team...

@fadlee relevance is you're not in the army, you've probably never seen wars and you've never been through their training. Real life is a lot different than on the big screen pal.

An approach march in a condition of extreme fatigue down the center of a cleared trail in broad daylight is the best way to blunder into a prepared enemy contact zone and be wiped out.
Forced marches ought to be logistics route marches only.

@LuciusCorneliusMacro Im totally agree with you bro. Im not sure about Swedish but for PLA, they have to cross jungle and shooting test, map drawing etc in 24hrs n travel direct distance of 50KM n in actual distance it's much more.
but we can understand that Singapore is protected by it's ally: Australia, New Zealand n 3 other countries plus US, so who dare to touch it? LOL with all my respects, if any country who wish to attack Singapore, without any help from its ally, they wont last a week.

Fallskärmsjägarna (the troops I where talking about) were also conscripts. This year the first class of Falskärmsjägare that weren't conscripts will be trained. Conscripts or not, these guys are freaking weak.
@cdoflasher 60km in 48hrs is judged base on unknown terrains... i.e. jungle trills, mud road... often stopping to make sure not being followed... There are some S.O.P. to follow in training... Dont forget we are walking infront of enermy red line...
@TheLocalDJ what's the relevance if im weren't in the army? so it would make me understand how these soldiers had endure from this so called physical test? i don't need to be an army officer just to point out how unsuitable they are to be a soldier, anyone could just point that out.. im pretty sure they are unfit to do any hard labor.

These are our own weapon the SAR-21, It based off the FAMAS but it isnt.
One of my friends had to go back to Singapore for conscription because he was born there. Think he either got this job or SF because he's pretty fit compared to other Singapore men. lol.

Yes they do. The Fallskärmsjägarna marches/runs twive as much as the scouts did with twice as much weight as the scouts did with half as much of weight and few of them walked like they'd just got F'ed in the butt. And that was their test to become Fallskärmsjägare, so technically they weren't even Fallskärmsjägare when they did it.
- Chinups puts no stress on biceps. Pullups do. Don't put words in my mouth, I never said that stature has nothing to do with it. However, stature has absolutely nothing to do with strenght when it comes to using your own body as weight.
pull ups and chin ups both use the biceps. Chin ups target them more. Also the bicep is a group of muscles.

@hute321 US Soldiers don't go through a third of what these guys are put though. All you guys are after is a fuck load of troops. Nothing wrong with that or anything.
My countrys soldiers are well trained, but we wouldn't do well in a war. The military is a quite sucky place in sweden, thanks to poltics. I'm sure that Singapore have units that can match the Swedish Jägar/Ranger units, it's just that the scouts are not even close.
