by the time u realised u see the bullets, you might have already been injured. The laser tag technology can be reset by the master controller a few times. And of course, once the person is shot, depending on the program, he might be 1. dead 2. injured (usually in a specific site i.e. injured limbs or chest) so that medics will be able to carry out their treatments). And also, with this laser tech, it can be placed on tanks too.
@cyberpioneertv Ahh I see! Thank you! I have another question.. is there somewhere I can find the updated NAPFA and IPPT scoring table? The ones on the NS website and recruit handbook seem to be outdated I think? Thanks!
@SpecJack15 they are carrying a ultimax 100 that uses a 5.56mm.that rounds also can be fired by a a standard assault etc m16,m4 carbine>shorten version of m16
@RevolutionVic Singapore's Chinook is the CH-47SD variant that is modified from the CH-47D type - comes with a higher payload capacity and an extended range due to larger fuel tanks. (:
@wasssabiboy I know the Section Automatic Weapon/Squad Automatic Weapon(SAW) fires 5.56x45mm rounds, same as assault rifles/carbines. But that's an Ultimax 100? It doesn't look like it without the foregrip..
@rehtafrey Aye mate, SAF is full of gentlemen who speak in a civilised manner. Terms referring to parts of the human anatomy, coitus or excrement are unheard of. The bleeping in these videos were to cover terms like "yikes!", "oops!", "ack!", "good lord!" as SAF considers these to be VERY vulgar indeed.
@WeepingSleeping depends bro.if you are an enlistee for mono intake for some people, they'll be straight posted to bedok camp(home of guards) for their bmt.and some will undergo through bmt in tekong. and as for specialist, you'll need to go through sispec. And if youre ''lucky'' you'll be posted to bedok camp.
And when they get posted to Bedok camp they go through gcc, but for the men they have something separate called gait. Those who do not pass will stay as infantry.
@cyberpioneertv what's the deal with glasses and contacts? I wear contact lenses everyday, do I still put on my contacts every morning in BMT or anytime during NS? Or do I HAVE to wear glasses?
@MrFreakyzee when you are that tired, do try thinking quick on your feet. These people are everyday civillians answering their "call of duty" for their nation.
@cyberpioneertv hey I was just wondering. I was talking to my teacher who went through ns and we got on the subject of simulated warfare. so he told me they shoot blanks or something like lazer tag. Im just wondering why they dont use paintballs? or even airsoft? although paintball is pricey airsoft is not
Paintballs can still injure, causing bruises or wounds if close enough. With the amount of training they do, the whole body will become black and blue pretty soon
I remember one thai officer once said: "Phyiscally, SAF soldiers are as good as thai soldiers except the heavy lifting, i.e., carry very heavy loads on our shoulders and move around swiftly". I agreed.
@ElfyHaikal There are 2 women in Guards and both are Officers and both of them got sewn into the ranks of the formation last year. I'm not sure if there are more female Guards soldiers now.
I was thinking after seeing this video..Singapore got make alot of movies about army (Army Daze,Ghost must be crazy,Where got ghost etc) why not make a WAR movie?not like your ghost must be crazy comedy,I mean,WAR..like WindTalkers,Saving Private Ryan etc? That would be cool!
i'm from europe (croatia to be exact), and i don't get it... why are there so many different looking people in this training? some look Indian, some look Korean, some African... and some speak english with an australian accent, others speak with a more american accent, and some I can't understand at all... basically, are they all Singapore citizens?
Not all man are mono intake! Im from bmt tekong and posted to guards as man! Its not easy carry GPMG while on a tactical march. How about try 84mm as well? Man didnt pass through GAIT mostly also is just IPPT didnt get silver. Go through same shit as others but status as infantry. But can they not say they are guardsman? =D
@TheDevilBoi171 its cos those war movies are based off real events or somewhere along the lines. further more the WW2 was not singapores proudest moment unlike the malaysian war heros which kept popping up
@cyberpioneertv i understand the point of the lazer tag but then the soldier can just run out and get shot a hundred times and not know it until later. he wont see the bullets coming or feel the pain like paintball
Not sure if you got your answer since this is 11 years later, but the soldier's rifle is "disabled" once he is "dead", i.e. he can still fire the blanks but the laser system doesn't recognise his shots, so he is effectively not able to "kill" anyone. It doesn't provide the same reaction to pain or instinct for self-preservation, but does provide a good way for gauging combat effectiveness. I guess the big motivator for self-preservation in this case is not having to re-do the whole exercise because too many died! And you'll be surprised - our active unit fighting supposedly unfit reservists got slaughtered in the first fight and we had to redo it all again.
@SPU7N1K owwwww gayyyyyyyy :( are there glasses frame requirements? cos it seems everyone has very similar looking ones. can you have slightly bigger ones?
No offence, but there's quite a bit of poor soldiering going on here. They run in groups from cover to cover, the doors are opened softly (they should slam them open to surprise any enemy inside and crush someone potentially hiding behind the door). The smoke is also used ineffectively. They ended up obscuring their own view. Smoke screen means you screen your actions from the enemy, not prevent yourself from being able to operate effectively.
Do you know anything about military tactics and also these guys are in training so you can’t expect a lot of them although are have graduated from ocs and scs
This is quite "rubbish" when I did my GSCC we were on our own. Where got instructors to correct our mistakes? Once we are on a mission, we are on our own... we were already junior commanders then and would have knowledge of what to do? This show really makes the conversion like a joke, without malice, sincerely. ..... *sad
The only people that I respect in the SAF are the NDU, Ranger, LRRP & SOF as they are above my standard and not those below me... Sorry dude, facts are ugly...
Great video, brought back wonderful memories of my own conversion course...in 1987.
like what my CO always say. "the rain is indented" haha
You're not a one man clearing force. Good stuff hahah.
GPMG guy. RESPECT man. Its not easy carrying a MG while on a tactical march.

6 min mark: "WAH CHEEBYE!"
@cyberpioneertv Ahh I see! Thank you! I have another question.. is there somewhere I can find the updated NAPFA and IPPT scoring table? The ones on the NS website and recruit handbook seem to be outdated I think? Thanks!
this SHOULD be a show on mediacorp.. like 8pm..srsly..young boys like me are eager to know all about the NS world..what training would be like.
@SpecJack15 they are carrying a ultimax 100 that uses a 5.56mm.that rounds also can be fired by a a standard assault etc m16,m4 carbine>shorten version of m16

I can smell the video when everyone in the small room after the training is over.
@cyberpioneertv what about a video for the Commandos? I wanna see their trainings too!! :)
@wasssabiboy I know the Section Automatic Weapon/Squad Automatic Weapon(SAW) fires 5.56x45mm rounds, same as assault rifles/carbines. But that's an Ultimax 100? It doesn't look like it without the foregrip..

@cyberpioneertv you guys should a video for ranger course man.. always wanted to know what they do during their course.. :)
hi cyberpioneertv, What is the minimum requirement to apply for guards?
And when they get posted to Bedok camp they go through gcc, but for the men they have something separate called gait. Those who do not pass will stay as infantry.
Are those ammo pouches on their SAR 21 ?
to collect the empty cartridges after firing blanks.
If you clear a building in this way, you will suffer very heavy casualties as you DO NOT know what to do...
Guardsman, HAHA...
@cyberpioneertv what's the deal with glasses and contacts? I wear contact lenses everyday, do I still put on my contacts every morning in BMT or anytime during NS? Or do I HAVE to wear glasses?

From what I'm seeing, a lot of these individuals lack basic rifleman skills and it shows. Definitely not infantry from the looks of it.

@@ViktorZuess conversion course for already existing soldiers.
This is national service for them, most of them don't even want to be there
