      The whole ordeal made me so depressed all year that I have only turned it on like 4 times all year and never called Samsung for a return. Probably out of a fear of rejection and so if I never call I can always have hope that I can get a replacement. Obviously that makes no sense and I need some fkin therapy namsayn

    This is going to be my 3rd monitor with this same issue.
    Had 2 samsung g9 monitors with dead pixels, 1 of them with several dead pixels at the top and the 2nd one with centre dead pixels.
    I am just getting replacement tomorrow so hopefully my 3rd one will be good.

      so how was the 3rd monitor? deadpixels unfortunately seem to be very very common on modern displays ,most people just dont notice them ,sed for us few who do notice though. but unfortunately only options seem to either keep returning ,eventually you might get a good one or just accept the defects of modern manufacturing and save your sanity. much rather have peace of mind then this useless pursuit.

      If had 3 screens all dead pixels and first one had 3 pixels had 1 revive i thought i imagine'd it but then 3e one popped up another area i returned it, i got one back with 15+ dead pixels, then the 3e i got with 2 dead pixels and 1 was visible from angle repaired it self nothing if done at all it was only visible at non viewing angle, the 2e is dark green the screen is returned atm cos of other issues cos it black screened like 2 times + flash as if display got shorted and display gets corrupted for 1 ms altho this only happened once, while screen going black and unresponsive happened 2 times, knowning Samsung they probably wont fix cos they find nothing wrong.

      Keep me updated on this situation please. Also, how much was the price you paid for the initial sale? And where?
      I recommend full replacements sent in advance. Not panel replacements unless you have to.
      Which I may have to. So I'm interested in your story as it unfolds. Cause literally everywhere on the internet it says Odyssey G9s get 3 years warranty but I called Samsung and they said its only 1 year.
      But I called at the last minute of their work day and they may have lied to me. Not sure.
      What I want is to try out the Neo G9 and show any differences between them and report any issues or lack there of. Because as I described the original models. They are prototypes for something. And something tells me that the Neos aren't going to be much better when I finally get one.
      Im already disappointed enough that they dont make a bigger size of G9 to match the 32inch height of the G7. Nor do they make a 4k version of G9 but they do for all the others.

      @@1122markj UPDATE: I waited two weeks for the panel to come in only to have the 3rd party repair company call me to let me know they don't carry that panel anymore. So I had to reach out to SAMSUNG to issue a replacement of the whole monitor and guess what? THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK of the G9 so I have to wait longer. They said if it passes a week SAMSUNG will give me a coupon so I can buy the G9 from a retail store as a replacement. So right now it's a waiting game.

    This vid has been 2 years ago. What’s the update?

    • @1122markj
      @1122markj  ปีที่แล้ว

      Update is that I never used the monitor. Least not for over a year. Got the Neo G9 a few months ago and it's not worth the upgrade at all. The difference is barely noticeable except for it being lighter to lift.. but you still need an Ergotron or Pole to hold them properly.
      My recommendation for super ultrawides is to either wait for the ones shown at CES this year. As one is OLED. And the other is microLED and taller. Its going to be like using three G7 32s.
      Overall, G7 32s are still the king. I hate how short the Y axis the G9 has. It's stupid, there's no way to get into a game with these. They are for serious work. But fall flat because they aren't color accurate.
      Samsung won't have a G9 type till later on that will be as tall as the G7 32s. Of which, using even just one of those is still my favorite setup.

    • @1122markj
      @1122markj  ปีที่แล้ว

      The other update is that everywhere on the internet it says you get three years of warranty for a G9. But I called Samsung two years later and they said it's only one year.
      That stung pretty bad for me. Hopefully my issues can help others and maybe get Samsung to change their ways.
      I am hyped for the new ones though and I'll be doing a full review of every model side by side by side by side. So, hit like, subscribe, Tune in and drop out! We're doing this at the years end with RTX 3 to 5000! Show me what you got Samsung! Will you finally pull me away from LG OLED?
      Maybe make an OSD to use with a mouse or remote and then we'll talk! You have only my hopes till then.

    Samsung was clearly tackling too much at once with this monitor. Huge bump in refresh rate, huge increase in screen curve, HDR, and 32:9 all packed into a monitor.
    It appears to me that this monitor has many known issues. There is roughly about a 50-50 chance of you getting a defect free monitor when you factor all the issues - dead pixels, cracked screen, backlight bleed defects, screen flickering, etc based off my limited research of product reviews on Amazon, Samsung, BestBuy, Newegg. The HDR implementation on this monitor with only 9 FALD zones is pretty atrocious. It would be ok if the screen was a normal 27" or so, but with a monitor this size it makes viewing black scenes with poorly optimized games look bad (black bars).
    I was going to wait it out for at least another 6 months before I decided. Did you not read the review prior to purchasing? Samsung has wiped their reviews and even rebranded the monitor on their website several times because of how many complaints they are getting. They even stopped selling this monitor until they could fix the software issues it had with windows and GPUs. Normally Samsung gets things right with time, but a product like this will continue to have problems I feel until the next generation is released.

    • @vman8126
      @vman8126 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess I'm in the top 50% as my monitor is for all intents perfect. Had it a week now and I have none of the reported issues or concerns in many of the product reviews. And the HDR is fantastic in - game, with it being hardly noticeable there are only 10 FALD zones, as the HDR brightness is near blinding and the blacks are more than deep enough. I do recommend getting the extra warranty and such from like BestBuy just in case, but beyond that, there is no reason for me not to recommend getting THIS generation of this fantastic monitor.

    • @1122markj
      @1122markj  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that they are tackling way too much with this monitor! These dead pixels were just the first one many problems. I'll be releasing a video soon. I'm waiting for my RMA to complete. They won't refund me but I'm going to fight it! They fucked me over hard. And now everyone is selling them for as low as 1k randomly here and there new unused. Ridiculous.

    I got my 2e samsung g9 15+ dead pixels and dust and more dead pixels in another area so potentially 20+ dead pixels all over and 6 of them on 1 spot like 2 dead pixels of each color next to each other, im so fucking pissed off and webshop taking days to respond....... dont bother try and fix yourself flashing videos at best only work for stuck pixels and 99% of the time it does not even work on that unless you developed them yourself by static image.

    • @1122markj
      @1122markj  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Aw man I'm really sorry to hear that :(
      And yeah, I know the flashing colors will never fix dead pixels. It's just all I could do to maybe help any pixels that might've been dimmed around the area and also so you can see the dead pixels more clearly in the video.
