thank you SO MUCH for this man, I can't tell you how much this helps. As a Twitch streamer and pretty new YT/socials content creator, this this is just STUFFED with things I neither need/want and until now, couldn't even uninstall. SO many things I couldn't even move to a different hard drive, HDD/SDD alike.
Don't even get me started on friggin Norton and the INSANE amount of CPU memory it uses up almost at all times. I finally got rid of it and IMMEDIATELY my CPU and GPU both dropped the amount of work they were doing some 15%-30% and with my poor Acer (it's battery is busted, slowly dying despite being on the charger), Nitro Sense also immediately begins to drop in temperature. The fans go from nearly a jet engine to a quiet desk fan sound. In a few minutes.
You're a saint, i'm absolutely subbing cuz I'm sure you're going to be someone I come back to regularly when I inevitably either have to get a new PC or Acer repairs my baby. It's only a GTX 1650 but it can do fine when all this junk isn't running or doing god knows what sometimes. thank you a milllion times

I might be the only person here that found the installation of Windows 11 to be fairly straightforward and I had to remove manually What I didn't want/need. TIW11 was either a GitHub download or the link you gave would not would not work. It only took me 1 hour to clear the cr*p off my Laptop and I installed StartAllBack but kept a lot of the Win11 icons etc.
If you are someone who likes getting into the innards of your PC/Laptop and experimenting with Linux - then all power to you for that. It suits those who are much more technically more gifted than I and millions of other Windows users.
Personally, my laptop(s) are primarily for Work (my own business) or the kids education. I tried Linux Mint but gave up as I was spending more time trying to find out why it wouldn't work than actually being productive (lost business). I put the whole experience down to lost time and a salutary exercise and that I am not technically able to do all that is needed to run a Linux system. Having seen Linus Tech Tips et al struggling in their challenges, I realise it isn't only me that found Linux too challenging and it wasn't what I needed. I need an out of the box working laptop, hardware compatible and a choice of software for my business applications.
So, yes, the important that seems to be missing in a lot of comments in most YT Win11 updates is that Windows works out of the box with the largest amount of hardware.
Yes, it has Bloatware, but it is doing what all successful businesses do - leveraging their position and try to grow larger and fight off competitors - I just delete and move on.
Yes, it locks down the system so the more technically aware of you guys out there find ways of getting around the problems. Thanks guys, I really mean it!
Yes, Microsoft have taken many years and many executive retirements to become a more reactive software company - they actually listen now but are slow to move.
For those who will give/have given up with Microsoft and Windows I say farewell. I wish you good fortune and patience in the Linux world. Yes, there maybe a time when a Linux Distro matches Windows and probably exceeds it - but I am certain it will take a good few years before that happens.
I will suck it up and live with icons in the wrong place, debloating when I have to and be effective in my business as after all, they are only machines that are supposed to help us?

I installed Windows 11 yesterday just because of better scheduling with the i9-12900k in certain games. I was astonished by how much bloat it came with, even after doing my usual optimization. I used ThisIsWin11 to debloat the rest of the jitter hidden around.
I hate that Microsoft are shoving the app-look down our throats, i hate Apple for this specific reason, but nowadays Windows is looking more and more like macOS.

@@janslokar9795 No it doesn't - certainly not perceptibly. It's always a fun 'exercise' playing with these toys; I've used this particular software with a variety of machines - ranging from an old 2009 VAIO to a 2017 Dell XPS - and there was zero improvement in boot time, app performance, etc. What it often did was fuck up the system (resulting in annoying/worrying error messages appearing), which required a system restore. This kind of maniacal tinkering is just OCD. Windows 11 is a pretty nice operating system out of the box. Nothing is perfect, but it's built by people who for the most part know wtf they're doing. Just leave well alone, unless you enjoy performing system restores on your devices and not actually using the damn things for what they were intended.

    • @EricTheBroBean
      @EricTheBroBean 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

If you know what you're doing, you are making your computer healthier. Yeah Microsoft know what they're doing, they're shoving tons of unnecessary software down your throat. They dont want the average consumer to become experts, thats why they keep changing it up and pushing more and more towards the app-look.

This may be a great program aka piece of software for those that are PC savy. But inidividual's like myself are going to find it a bit daunting when we don't know what half or more of the things we don't like actaully are, meaning, named. As I listened to you entently, I heard you mention nurmerious things to gid rid of, which I had no idea as to what they were. I'm 73 and only use my gaming pc to play various video games, You Tube and Chome as my browser. What ever else my pc is capable of is of no use. Which I will assume is the vast majority of it. Getting rid of the wrong thing, assumably can and will have effect on the few things I utilize my pc for. And scared that I won't be able to fix it, unless I do a total reinstall. Is there a "OOP's" I made a mistake getting rid of something I shouldn't have icon? Becasue I'm pretty sure I would need it.

Today I just ditched Windows bootloader from my HDD completely. Switched to Linux, installed Windows (LTSC) on QEMU/KVM, did GPU passthrough. Getting almost 95% bare metal performance on a VM.
I'm fed up with how Microsoft is voilating users privacy, using dacades old sluggish NTFS file system, installing bloatwares without users concern, even they're now forcing ppl to use Edge browser. Looks like we don't own our hardware, they own it.

Since Windows 7, I have found the first step in de-bloating Windows is to scrape the C: partitions and install a standard "retail" version of Windows. Even if your PC came from one of the major suppliers, THIS IS LEGAL ! Worst case, you may have to do the "telephone" license authentication. This still leaves a lot to clean up !

  • @Adam_Lyskawa

It's weird, I don't have new installation, I have the Education release of Windows 10 upgraded to 11 with WIP. No bloat. Not a single unwanted app. I installed TIW11, I checked its "79 apps to remove". All actually USEFUL system apps I don't really want to uninstall. Come on, why would I want to uninstall weather app or a language pack I use? But maybe it's just I don't use REGULAR official Windows 11 release. I would NOT recommend using ANY app that automatically removes Windows components or messes up with Windows Registry, at least without doing a full backup. Why? Because I've been there and broke things. I always debloat my system, but I do it manually. Its worth noting, that if you are a power user, it's very high probability that if you remove a seemingly "unused" service or system component - something will eventually break and it will be hard to fix. One of "privacy" tools I used permanently broke the bug reporting feature. I wasn't able to fix it, it was broken until I reinstalled the system on a freshly formatted disk. So don't do the shotgun surgery. If you're not a tech, just uninstall apps manually with "remove programs". Change the Windows settings in normal settings menu. If you are a tech then you just know what you're doing and you also don't need any scripts or 3rd party tools for that. BTW, use Windows Internals (Google it) - to find what is loaded on startup (Autoruns). You can easily disable and enable things from there. There's also Startup tab in Task Manager and Windows Services. Read what the service does and if it's required by other services. After disabling it restart the system and test if everything works as it should. BTW, removing bloatware with normal "remove programs" worked fine for me since Vista. It will probably take like 30 minutes, but it's still less than one broken feature could cost you to fix later. Also - you do it once. Enjoy bloatware free PC for years.
