However there are a few laws here in the EU at least (GDPR recent example) that try to tackle at least privacy concerns, but they are sadly pretty hard to enforce as long as there are geographical locations these do not apply to. As going after them is nearly impossible and blocking the internet never goes well.
As an example for instance there is a part of the that GDPR is the annoying popup for cookie usage on websites, which also according to the GDPR need an easy option to disable all of the cookies and it should even be defaulted to disabled. But how many sites follow that? They just make that popup as annoying as possible to agitate people in the hope they will speak up against these laws.

(works on the Pro edition, doesn't work on the Home edition)
On the screen where you are being asked to choose "How would you like to set up this device?" you are given two options. Most people, since they are installing Windows on a consumer device, are going to go with the option to "Set up for personal use". That will bring up a screen asking you for the Microsoft Account credentials.
But, by choosing the option to "Set up for work or school" and then choosing "Sign-in options" on the next screen you are now presented with the option to join a domain. Choose that one. It doesn't matter if the device you're installing Windows on doesn't belong to a corporate domain, it will work regardless.

@@dreaper2087 That sounds like the business model from the computer shop is something that is impressive and I only wish that people were more aware about their options when purchasing a new computer. I understand the issue with raising awareness, since OEMs have almost no marketing budget to promote used PCs. So any advertisement is usually through word of mouth in this age of internet commerce. This is why I really hope the online stores do not completely obliterate walk-in stores where I can talk to an actual human (not an AI generated script being read by a call center employee) when I ask for my purchasing options.

I just had this problem yesterday when installing an SSD in a co-worker's personal laptop. While installing Win10 in the SSD I made the mistake of connecting to Wi-Fi and then it required an MS account and wouldn't allow creating a local account, there was absolutely no way to skip it (I suppose I could've disabled Wi-Fi and that would've been it). I logged in with my account, did what I had to do, then created a local account and deleted my MS account - which worked, but it is definitely not cool. I did confirm my user folder was successfully deleted, so I hope that was the end of it.

On Windows I spent 30 minutes updating drivers and rebooting like 3 times before I could do the same thing. Sometimes things are easier on Linux. Sometimes they are not. Hibernation likes to stop working from time to time. Though Windows crashes when I suspend it, so I have to hibernate it instead.
BTW: I have Windows only because Adobe won't let me activate Substance Painter on Linux with a CC subscription, and I need that for work. I recognize this is an older video but meant to comment a while back. Have to say great content... like the humour and the way you present! Another great video would be monitoring two clean installs of Win XP and Win 10 or 11... the traffic going out to different Microsoft servers and partners. Surprising!! Not that Microsoft is so terrible... ok they are LOL! The more of our data that is out there no matter who has it and how integral they are.. the larger the attack landscape overall and the more risk to our security and privacy. We can set groups policies... some good tools for that too to automate a large amount of changes but we never get it all, and for how long before Microsoft finds a way around it and reverts changes as they have been known to do with other settings. With all that and they really need to try and force an account with email making it even less secure. And you're right Apple known for privacy and what they sell on is getting worse all the time! I love linux but can't run everything I need with it, in addition needing to stay familiar with MS and MacOS due to my work... or I would't use anything else. As one commenter posted here a good idea would be if developers would get moving more on linux to make it more of a viable alternative. Now I know the kernel is built by large companies too... all have their part in it but we can look at the code at least and know what's going on. Our dev teams doing this kind of thing need the support to make it worth their while. They do what they do most not for the money but they love what they are doing. Sorry for such a long post here. As of the ISO available in November 2022, the Network Connection Flow fix from this video does not work for Windows 11 Pro.
What does still work is the following: Continue through the install, but at the user entry screen press Shift+F10, type "oobe\bypassnro" without spaces or quotes, then before Windows finishes the restart, unplug the ethernet cable.

@D Reaper it's a gaming PC, so Linux isn't gonna work. 😁 I've tried Linux couple of times, couple of versions but Windows is most stable and offer all the tools I ever needed. I know you can upgrade Linux, but it's too quirky for my taste.. For me it's just a lot easier to set Windows not to do what I don't want to instead making Linux what I want, it's a lot less work. But this is me, I know a lot of people using it and they are happy with it, this is just my flavor of things 😊

So I'm pretty much stuck on Windows because of this because I'm not gonna give my money to Apple. They spy on you just as much but with even less control over your devices. Its a damn shame really.

The easiest way to increase Linux adoption is to have a friend help you install/configure it. Most home/office user use the same software over and over. I've installed Linux for the non tech savvy and some are none the wiser. Sure the windows look a bit different but surfing the web is still the same. Linux is more secure than windows, but software compatibility means it won't be for everyone. I believe setting up a Linux community to include local 'Linux helpers' is what would improve Linux adoption. Schools extra activities would make an ideal place to perform Linux projects, but then schools are already overburdened. IMO Microsoft has lost the plot since windows 7, people are just waiting on the support for the alternatives to materialise.
