As far as gaming mode it may or may not help it depends on too many variables. Game Mode gives top priority for your game - this is useful if you are running multiple software / processes at the same time - Where it will hurt game performance is if your game is relying on multiple software or processes running at the same time, if not, then it may actually improve performance - by how much, it depends - maybe on high-end systems barely noticeable, it might help more with lag and frame drops. It's best to keep the option OFF, if you have a powerful enough system and your game has decent enough frame rates and turn it on if needed, but the best thing that will give noticeable increases in performance is debloating the OS, and if you are an advanced user, dedicate a partition for gaming on a light version of the OS without all the bloat and installed apps that run in the background - this is what I do - I have 2 x Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, 1 for system and apps, another one dedicated only for games. and 1 Samsung 990 Pro 1TB dedicated for windows temp and cache.

XP was prolly that one and only time MS got things right from the start. 7 was good at launch as well, but it feels like a rectified version of Vista than a new Windows. Rich: Thanks for your sponsor providing inexpensive Windows licenses. I did this on a machine that originally had 7 installed & was eligible for free upgrade to 10 but ran into minor snag & owner said "forget it". When 7 expired she didn't want machine & sold to me & I put 10 on it but unactivated. Finally got it legit via your sponsor for a little over $16 (& although "unsupported hardware" got 11 on it through a workaround!). Thanks!
Great information! Not sure if its already been asked, but my windows 10 has that same context window, hate it! Will the same actions you show for windows 11 work with windows 10? thanks!
for those that do not want to use the registry hack, there is a SIMPLE workaround. hit SHIFT and then rightclick for menu and you get the full options list.
Thanks for the tip about restoring "some" of the context menu function, however I wish there were a permanent way to enable "Move To" and "Copy To" from previous Windows iterations. There is a registry hack, sure, but as soon as Microsoft updates Windows, that hack is disabled because the new registry key is wiped. I move huge files and "DnD" or "Ctrl-c/x" can result in heartache when, not if, it goes sideways because file manager is still unstable in Win 11--even after ~4 years. Why on Earth did Microsoft think that "Copy To" and "Move To" were something to remove? I loathe the file manager, menu, and context menu design of Win 11. That is why my new PC got rolled back to Windows 10 Pro and will stay Windows 10 Pro. I've been a member of the Microsoft Insider Program and Beta testing program for more years than I care to admit, and Win 11, to me, is akin to Windows ME. Heck, WIn 8 was better, out of the box.
maybe check out Winaero Tweaker, its a godsend. i use that instead of the registry things to alter the context menu. it also lets u choose different styles of startmenu etc, i believe CyberCPU Tech has a video talking about it

Hey CyberCUP Tech, thanks for taking the time and effort to produce this excellent, easy to follow and understand, video tutorial on Windows 11 tips - coming from Windows 7 to 11, this should make the transition much easier.
A little question; If I upgrade to 11 on unsupported hardware does the license of my windows 10 still work fine? And If so, what happens if my laptop gets slower and I want to go back to 10?
Yes, Windows 10 licenses are good with Windows 11 and vice versa. You can also install Windows 10 with a Windows 11 license. If you want to go back to Windows 10, you just have to install it. I did a few videos a while back showing how to downgrade without losing your data.
Edge performs better, but the average user will often not notice any difference. It just comes down to whether you prefer Microsoft or Google spying on you. Personally, I never use either of the two for anything money-related, i.e. online banking, purchases on websites using credit cards, etc.
THANK YOU. I really hated the new right click and thanks to you I now have the functional version again! seriously whoever decided to bloat that needs to be fired or denied a coffee break.
Around 13:00 miins or later you mentioned win11's antivirus. Should we turn on or enable PUA (potentially unwanted applications)? I enjoy emulating / gaming and I'm wondering if that's going to mess up everything. Back in win10, I had norton and it constantly quarantined key files just because half a million people didn't have it yet (not because it was malicious) so I was constantly having to go into norton's quarantine and remove items to get the emulator (nightly build) to run.
Why do you recommend changing system power from balanced to high performance? I have a AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and balanced is what they recommend. Just curious. Thanks.
Do you have a solution for the Windows 11 SSD being slow? My reads are normal but my Writes is less then half it should be. Manufacturer claims: R-7000 W-6500. my test after 7m and one windows upgrade later its now R-7400(stayed the same) and W:-2200 and sometimes 3000. The drive is 2TB and only used up about 300gb.
The motherboard firmware and/or the SSD firmware can affect those numbers so you might need to experiment with different firmwares and see if you get your write speeds back to the level quoted by the manufacturer. There’s a risk with flashing firmware so make sure you’re knowledgeable before attempting this. Also, look through the settings in your bios for anything relating to pcie gen 4 speeds or NVMe. Ensure it’s not set to operate at a Gen 3 speed. Sounds like the write speed is locked into a Gen 3 speed range. Lastly, boot into a Linux OS and perform a speed test there. If your speed is normal under Linux, your Windows nvme driver might be the cause.
@@Richo5566 I have the latest bios update installed there is no sk Hynix p41 platinum firmware update only their gen 3 ssd and my auorus x570s elite seems to be lacking in drive settings as I was having difficult setting up sata raid unlike my previous b550 rog strix board. Hi, I might be a little late for you to be looking at comments but could you explain how to get the cpu temperature on ur taskbar? im not sure what to trust
There is one tip i disagree a little, and don't recomend everyone doing it. On the power settings, if you have an AMD ryzen CPU you shouldn't mess around with the "best performance" mode and leave it "balanced". This is because AMD Cpus when well configured on the balanced power plan will adjust the CPU frequency dynamicaly and when your windows is doing light tasks it will actualy boost the frequency more on single core loads. If you have the best performance option toggled all cores of the CPUs will be more "awake" and thus even those who are not needed will still consume some power, leaving less availlable headroom for more Boosts when less cores are needed. Meaning that the balanced power mode is actualy realy good on Ryzen CPUs and even AMD recomends it for best all-round performance.

Note: You might not be able to change the power mode when a custom power plan is selected. If you can’t set the power mode in Power & battery settings, open Control Panel, select System and Security > Power Options, then choose a Balanced power plan.

Turn Win 11 back into Win 7. I have used MS since DOS and everytime the about get a OS right they change to a new one and leave both in a mess. Sometimes leaving things alone is the best instead of fiddeling with them and making them a bigger mess.
Hiding and turning off settings are great to make Windows 11 a little more useable, but it still doesn't deal with the bloat of all the unnecessary code used to make these "features".
It depends. Ultimately all drivers even the ones available on Windows update are manufacturer drivers. However, those drivers are known to be kind of outdated. So on things like chipsets and GPUs I would use manufacturer drivers but on other minor stuff I would just use the drivers that come with Windows.
Great video! Glad I'm not the only one who HATES the change on the context menu. There's an alternative method to change to context menu in case others don't want to dive into the reg editor and that's through a console command --> reg add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve After that restart Windows Explorer like in the video and it should work -- worked for me!
it keeps minimizing all my games whenever im playing anything. its not game breaking but its super annoying and cant fix it no matter how many tutorials i follow or things i change on my pc
Oh yeah I must say I cannot believe some people dislike your T-shirt, I gave you a LIKE on this video especially for the T-Shirt 😂 Though I wouldn't necessarily fart, as it's hard to control your farts, but I usually step back and show my fist, because I don't like being hugs or even the thought of it - and I can't believe some people impose hugs, my body is my personal property, I do not like people stepping on my personal property, and even less I can do without hugs - words and actions to me mean more than fucking hugs - so yeah I love your T-Shirt concept, and I can promise I won't fart if someone attempts to hug me, they will instead get a verbal confirmation that I don't do that shit. I wish people would focus on your video and content and not make a fuss about your t-shirt.
without at least measuring pc latency with frameview those benchmarks wont help. fps numbers aren't enough to understand what's really going on and with such small differences it can all come down to margin of error and variances , depending on how clinical you are executing tests

The new context menu is so dumb, like if you want to make it stylized for the system, fine, but why create two of them? Just MIGRATE all functions from one place to the other. When 7 expired she didn't want machine & sold to me & I put 10 on it but unactivated. Finally got it legit via your sponsor for a little over $16 (& although "unsupported hardware" got 11 on it through a workaround!). Thanks!
Glad it helped.
key reselling websites are not "legitimate", that's a common misconception that a lot of people have for some reason

Thanks! Getting my 11 laptop tomorrow. This video is invaluable. Oh, and I like the t-shirt. 🙂

My bad, I forgot.
Looking for that paste also,thanks.
About the Game Mode, it really just depends on the hardware and the game.
Usually it's better to have it on but sometimes it might help to turn it off
Great information! Not sure if its already been asked, but my windows 10 has that same context window, hate it! Will the same actions you show for windows 11 work with windows 10? thanks!
The context menu tip was something which I was looking forward, thanks!
did not work for me though :(
my bad, i was creating the second key on the same level as the first, works fine :D
It's a shame that it doesn't work :(
for those that do not want to use the registry hack, there is a SIMPLE workaround. hit SHIFT and then rightclick for menu and you get the full options list.
Excellent basic tutorial on Windows 11. Thank you for sharing 🙏
Thank you so much i knew a few of those but some are really good and helpful great video straight to the point and clear
Heck, WIn 8 was better, out of the box.
maybe check out Winaero Tweaker, its a godsend. i use that instead of the registry things to alter the context menu.
it also lets u choose different styles of startmenu etc, i believe CyberCPU Tech has a video talking about it
Maybe I am late to the party, but after using a couple 3rd party apps, I have 11 looking and running exactly the way I like it. It is fast, stable and once you find all the settings like you have just shown, a little less intrusive. Supposedly 23H2 comes out tomorrow

Can you share some of your solutions?

Is there a way to change the big taskbar to smaller taskbar and transparent? I've tried some of the tricks like changing the registry, but I still getting that big old taskbar. I don't want to set it auto hide. Suggestion, thank you! 😖

@@CyberCPU Thank you
Good day brother, just wanna to know...between microsoft edge and chrome, which is the best for browser? Thanks.
Edge performs better, but the average user will often not notice any difference. It just comes down to whether you prefer Microsoft or Google spying on you.
Personally, I never use either of the two for anything money-related, i.e. online banking, purchases on websites using credit cards, etc.

My last option is to dual boot a Linux flavor at this point I guess. Just to test. Even if I did there is no drivers or anything sk Hynix offers anyways. Thanks for the help.
Omg same here! Went from 10 to 11 and now my laptop is so laggy.
Hi, I might be a little late for you to be looking at comments but could you explain how to get the cpu temperature on ur taskbar? im not sure what to trust
I use a program called fan control. I talk about it in this video.

That's only for 3rd generation and lower have a predefined power plan that's installed with the chipset software
New ryzen CPU's do not have with issue, friend of mine who works at AMD software confirmed this.
Thank you very much for that context hack, hated that one 😉

With my Windows 11 computer. I hear if you use Windows Defender you don't need Mcafee Or Norton. Is that true?
I only use Windows Defender and I'm still on Windows 10. I also run Adguard Home on my router.
Thanks for all the great tips and tricks to making Windows 11 more usable. My potato runs great. 😃
Great to hear!
Note: You might not be able to change the power mode when a custom power plan is selected. If you can’t set the power mode in Power & battery settings, open Control Panel, select System and Security > Power Options, then choose a Balanced power plan.

Just did a ram and nvme upgrade on an old laptop I had laying around doing nothing, clean install of windows 11.
I have to say, I hate everything about it, the fan is constantly on full blast for no obvious reason at all, and the menus are all screwed up.
I'll keep trying it for a bit, but at this very moment, I'm leaning towards re-installing 10, hell I'd go back to 7 if it was practical.
You remind me of Deke McClelland of Adobe fame.....and that's a compliment. Concise and well conveyed. Good job sir....

Rich, you mentioned the Windows 11 update to 23H2. I am unable to get this update. I appear to be stuck in 22H2. I've been checking every day and I'm being told that my computer is up to date. I have 7 PCs in my home and all have been upgraded to 23H2 for at least a month and in some cases, longer. I've been on Microsoft support where they take control of my PC and see what's going on. They tell me to just be patient. I think something is blocking further updates. Do you have any advice or suggestions?
Download the 23H2 ISO and do an in place upgrade.
THANK YOU for the Context menu workaround!
That right-click menu change in the Regedit has officially made you my BFF!
Worth it just for the context menu fix alone. Now I need to get one of those shirts 'cause frankly, I'm unprofessional as fuck. 😁 Thanks!
Do new laptops require win 11 activation or can you still opt to use win 10 during install?
Thanks for all your posting you have helped me immensely. .
thanks for giving me some settings cuz i have been getting windows setup thing for almost a year now and it always appear every couple of weeks which definitely annoyed me a lit and same with the new context menu that doesn’t really make much sense for me since i bought the machine brand new (well almost new it already 1 year out of date when i bought it)
not sure why but it seems every other version of windows just as they get it right the next one has issues and or a major new learning curve i first noticed this with the change from windows 95 to windows 98, 95 was good 98 not so much, on the other hand people really complained about XP but i liked it after i figured it out , just got a windows 11 laptop so i do not know much about win-11 yet, so consuming as many vids as i can find b4 my w-10 one dies completely .. thanks for a good vid
Turn Win 11 back into Win 7. I have used MS since DOS and everytime the about get a OS right they change to a new one and leave both in a mess. Sometimes leaving things alone is the best instead of fiddeling with them and making them a bigger mess.
This video was valuable for the context menu setting alone. Thanks!
And yes... I've subscribed.
SOOO HAPPY THIS WORKED : ) Thank u
Hiding and turning off settings are great to make Windows 11 a little more useable, but it still doesn't deal with the bloat of all the unnecessary code used to make these "features".
I guess there still is no way to re-add folders on to the task bar?
Do you recommend using Windows Drivers on a fresh install or the manufacturers? ie: Dell, Hp, other.. Thanks for a great video!!
It depends. Ultimately all drivers even the ones available on Windows update are manufacturer drivers. However, those drivers are known to be kind of outdated. So on things like chipsets and GPUs I would use manufacturer drivers but on other minor stuff I would just use the drivers that come with Windows.
Context Menu Gone YEEEEHAAAAA Thanks Brother.
Great video! Glad I'm not the only one who HATES the change on the context menu. There's an alternative method to change to context menu in case others don't want to dive into the reg editor and that's through a console command --> reg add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve
After that restart Windows Explorer like in the video and it should work -- worked for me!
Hello man thanks for the video. I have a question about the thing in the task bar that show a number. What is it?
You deserve a like for that Microsoft account notification tip 👍
it keeps minimizing all my games whenever im playing anything. its not game breaking but its super annoying and cant fix it no matter how many tutorials i follow or things i change on my pc
Hi, thanks for this, much appreciated. Do you know how can I deactivate widgets entirely or almost to a negligible amount of resources. I still have them pop up in task manager from time to time using disk resources. Thanks!

0:08 - Either you have very different comments than I normally see on Windows 11 videos, or this should have been "it's not gonna be by installing Linux" 🙃
(Linux bros, please please PLEASE keep letting us know you use Linux, it absolutely never gets insufferable)
Thanks for saying that! There are reasons I don't use Linux, and no amount of insufferable bragging is going to make me change my mind! The only time I will consider switching to Linux is if it somehow, through some horrific global collapse, becomes the only OS _actually available._ I have no desire to learn how to use a computer from the ground up at my age when I just wanna get shit done.
@@theimaginatrix7625it sounds like you haven't tried a modern version of Linux where you can run from a flashdrive tbh...yes about 10 years ago Linux was far more finicky
Hi. Do you know a way to go back to the old win10 ribbon in explorer? I think the new win11 command bar is less useful. maybe a tip to deactivate the option hide/ show hidden file.
The new context menu is so dumb, like if you want to make it stylized for the system, fine, but why create two of them? Just MIGRATE all functions from one place to the other.
It feels that MS doesn't know how to work on a full system anymore, it's so weird. Yes, some versions before had aspects of previous but at least they were CONSISTENT
