Negi could've at least made the series longer developing Yotsuba more to have the audience actually like her even though I probably still wouldn't like her over miku and nino

So I am an anime only for context. I heard in the manga Yots got more development. As a 6 character development growing as humans I like the story. For a romance story though I did dislike it. I actually like that there were intentional or unintentional clues that even I caught on the first watch through. Like I knew Yotsuba would win when she was the girl on the boat(cause she ran across Futaro during her practice right when they met). I just dislike we didnt see much of the romance on screen

The story was largely based off the phycolgy consept Maslow's high archy of needs with the usugi starting at the bottom not having much then his smarts were each girl represents each part itski basic needs, Ichika being safety needs, Nino being love and belongings, and Miku being esteem needs and yotsuba being at the stage of self actualization witch is why she had most her development being in the past because she starting at the highest stage and as usugi helps each girl through there stage he gets through it aswell so him ending up with the one in self actualization with him makes sense tho I do think yotsuba should have had more moments prior to the final arc

Idk where you heard that, but you're reaching. Itsuki is not basic needs. Basic needs is food, water, and shelter. As the daughters of a rich man, none of them are in basic/physiological. Ichika isn't in safety. She WANTS to make money, but she doesn't need to. When they all start living alone, everyone tries to get a job, so if anything, they were all in that stage. Everyone can be argued to be in love and belonging. Yotsuba is def not in self actualization. If anything, she's in self esteem.

@@YumesukeSutashika long comment time so I can defend my points. First of all it was a theory I devised my self to solve the mystery of who would win before the movie came out because as someone who's isnt a big fan of rom coms and especially not harems and at the time the only one I liked was Love is war its what hooked me on the story, (and yes this is a mystery story or at least advertised that way). So now onto Itski this is the closest one id call to be a bit of a stretch because prior to the movie when I was theorizing neither Itski or Yotsuaba had major arc so it was a toss up untill I remembered Itski's gimmick is food and she was the one that basically got Usagi off the ground and got him through the basic needs because his family basically needed this job to survive. But then the movie/festival arc were every character completes/finalizes there character arc and im arguing because of how close each of the quiets represents one stage each one reaches self actualization and itsaki has the most stages to climb thus why she has such a foas in the movie determining her career path as a teacher (safety), encountering and confronting her biological father(love and belonging), confidence to despite everything being against her getting her score high enophe to go to collage(esteem), and her reaching slef-actualization by becoming a teacher. Now Ichka her entire charter represents safety needs her arc the summer festival was basically all about her trying to get her job as a actress she is the big sister of the quiets and is very protective and always looking out for the safety and wellbeing as well as when they move out being for awile until they all have jobs she is the one providing recourses and property of her and her sisters aswell after this she is the one to basically secure the job for Uasugi wail nino and and itski would still rebel a bit he was actually able to do his job and teach them, there is also in the final arc her choice to forgo school to become a full on actress and be her best self. Nino is even more obvious her tsundree personality her arc is largely focused on her feeling a sense of belonging among her sisters and wanting love from her adaptive father and when she finally admits her feelings to her self is the most outwardly affectionate towards Usugi this is also around the time Usugi starts to have a proper friend group outside of the quients and during the school festival her want to make the pancakes for her father and ultimately leading to her following her dream and opening a bakery with Miku. Then for Miku it couldn't be more obvious her entire charchter is her opening up about things like her love of history and wanting to work on her baking and be recognized for it all leading into the school trip arc being wail her sisters did assist alot she was able to have the confidence to do all those things with Usaugi and during the festival she was able to come to terms with her unrequited feelings and she ultimately gained enoph confidence in her baking ablity to do whats best for her and open the bakery with Nino. Then Yostuba wail prior to the festival she seems to be the most put together of he girls because she had found a sense of self in her athletic ability and being the first to break away from her sisters with her ribbon as shown through the story and primary in school festival she hasnt found her best self constantly spreading he self thin her arc in the festival is her finding her best self by being selfish going to a sports collage and accepting Usagugi' confession. Then finally there is Usaugi who after nearly ever arc focused on one of the girls he gets a arc testing if he had moved past that stage witch the anime in a vain attempt to make him a generic self insert harm mc changed or cut parts of these arcs but after the fireworks there's the practice exam where is job is put on the line (safety needs after the Ichka arc who represents that), hot springs arc were the goal is distinqwish the quints from each other and how to do it is strait out stated to be love also the sense of belonging and bond he forms with there grandfather(right after nino's arc who represents love and belonging needs), and the part were Usaugi has the confidence to go and have fun at the beach party without the quints as well as having the confidence to ask the girls to hang out at the water park (right after miku's arc who represents esteem needs), also id argue that the arcade trip with his sister and itski shows he got past basic needs because he has enoph money now that they arnt scraping by and can spend it on more trivial things. As well Usugi follows and trys to be his best self by proposing to Yotsuba and still going to the high end school were they would scarcely meet. As I said before the final arc is a bit rushed and more scenes of Yostuba and Usaugi could have gone a long way but to say its unsatisfying or it doesnt make sense goes against not only the hints you pointed out aswell as all that iv described.

I never expected someone would use maslows hierarchy thoery to explain this anime but how youre telling things I feel like for uesugi fuutarou uses each of them to fulfil his needs step by step, as you can see fuutarou who was a poor guy wanted to earn money by working hard accpets the job of tutoring quintuplets to fulfil his first need which is bascis needs, then even though he struggels so much he finnaly able to earn money to pay off their family taxes which fulfils their safety needs, for the third step hee took some time to realize but he was aware of his love for every quintuplets, through this journey with the quintuples so far he was needed to estimate his values which he does by becoming third nationally at the national exam, for self actulization he took those three days where he has to decide his true feelings and do the hard task for deciding his wife. So just because Ituski loves to eat food doesnt make her basic needs, ichika wants to secure their bond beetwen quintupls by doing something as a older sister doesnt make her sefety needs, nino loving everyone of the sisters and loves to secure thier bonds doesnt make her love and belongings, miku wanting to actualize and estimate her goals for live doesnt make her self esteem and youtsuba being able to actualize first their mother's words to keeping their bonds or being able to forget about past and finnaly able to move forward in life diesnt make her self actualization

Okay hear me out… I wanted Ichika to win. She was my best girl. Short hair girls just do it for me okay.
