Hello Folks!
I hope I find you all well. So today for tea, we had this wonderful cheesy potato & baked bean pie! I makes such a delicious side…or even on it’s own as a much :) You could add all sorts of things to this, and corned beef works so well in this too!
Everything I used will be below.

Good evening everyone ❤ a nice wee simple one tonight…but it’s delicious 😋
Salutations! Oh and I forgot to say I love the twice baked idea for this type of dish. I make dishes like this ahead because it tastes even better after the second bake, but wait to add the cheddar and panko for the second bake.
I'm making this later tonight.
Lovely. 👌👌👌🙌
It got me remembering my mother used to do something in the Rayburn when I was young. Wish I could remember it properly xx

How ya doing Cheryl. Happy Friday 🎉 Thank you for sharing this amazing recipe ❤
When i was broke i made this with instant mash and tesco blue stripe beans garlic powder and cheap cheese.
Thank you for bringing back some good memories.
Always make a meal out of something.
Mum says cut the clothes to suit the cloth.
Bright blessing❤
Hi from Jamaica, as a child in wartime I learned to make this with square sausage and beans . A sprinkle of cheese was a whole week’s ration. My dad liked it after a cold Saturday at Ibrox .Potatoes are almost a luxury here at the moment, but that dish brings back happy memories of a wet Glasgow day.
I love these kind of meals! Comfort food!!!!❤
My very food-fussy Son has just had this for the first time for his tea & he gives it a Solid 9/10……& I didn’t even have to ask him what he thought, he offered the Information as soon as he’d finished eating. Well done for satisfying his fussy palate.
OMG. Now if that doesn’t classify as soul food, I don’t know what does! I absolutely need to try this. Thanks for sharing 😅
I could always cook properly, even as a youngster, but every now and then I'd do cheesy mash with smokey bacon in. Beautiful comfort food. 👍
I grew up on this as a kid and I still love it
I used to have a family friend who was Scottish that used to make somethjng similar for her Grandsons which they called it the bean thing. It was basically a tin of beans and sausages with the occasional addition of chipolatas topped with mash potato and grated cheese and baked in the oven. She sadly passed away 3 years ago and I've made it several times since and I absolutely love it and you sound like her with your lovely Scottish accent!
I concocted a similar dish about 55 years ago when money was tight. I layered mash with finely chopped onion, corned beef and sliced tomatoes topped with cheese. My children loved it, i still do it today for myself as its still cheap and nutritious.
I’ll be waiting for the next really cold day to give this a try. Looks hearty and delicious!
It's so good Jean! Perfect for a cold day or night ☺💙🤍💙
Sounds good. I think using corned beef looks like good idea too.
This recipe is just so Cheryl!
It is indeed Erin! 😄👍
Just about to watch your video - used my potato’s up last night and made extra mash 👍….. this would be good for breakfast with bacon and egg too
Great idea for a Meatless Monday. Since the baked beans in the US are pretty sweet, I might go with a white northern with some herbs added.
Another winner Cheryl. Thanks a million 👍
Hello from 🇺🇲
My Husband and I recently discovered the Jacket Potato which we absolutely love
I will be making this for Dinner very soon with a nice Sausage and buttered Peas
Thank you for the lovely recipes ❤
I make cheese and potato pie for myself a lot, but have never put baked beans in the midlle, only on theside. I have put a layer of spinach in it though 😋.
Made this from your recipe with a layer of corned beef added. Top drawer. Many thanks.
Her partner and his kids have fallen on their feet - a live-in chef preparing all these yummy meals for them. Lucky them.
Well, hello, Cheryl. This looks absolutely scrumptious 😋
Have a great week. I can't wait for your Saturday shopping.
Thank you! You too! ☺️🥰
Ach aye, Jock from Glasgow here. What a tasty bundle of tucker for me and the we wife and my bairns ! My sproran is a trembling from the anticipation of tasting it !
Just had this today also added corned beef was absolutely delicious. Thank you Cheryl for all your posts.
Ooh, I’d add some cooked, chopped square sausage with the beans layer; would be delicious.
Cracking vid going tae try it with a onion gravy cheers Cheryl keep up yer guid work thanks.
Oh YUM!!
Yes, this is tomorrows supper!!!
Thanks for the great idea, so easy!!
Love from NW Ontario.
Lovely recipe Cheryl. I would have to add fried onions and bacon bits with mine. I will try it. Always looking for tasty economical comfort food.
Golly, I was so worried when you didn't use beans for several days that I ordered some from the grocers! And Now you use them! Your dish looks so good. Thanks!
Beans galore in this one! 😄💙
Oh my goodness it's a very long while since I tasted one of these. My mum used to make it as a very welcome, but definitely a desperation dinner, when there was too much week and not enough money. We kids loved it and always devoured it after coming in from school half starved and cold in the winters of the 1950s. You've elevated it a bit with the panko breadcrumbs and I think if I revisit this (and I think I will), I'll stick with just the grated cheddar on top, (and lots of it), grilled to bubbly perfection. Thanks for the memory and the reminder of how the simplest dishes can be the most delicious.
Yummy this looks so good! I think I may make this for dinner tonight.
I always add garlic when making mash and with a nice floury spud I mash them up with a hand held food mixer then add the butter and milk work's well, we had this as kids as we had no money, we called it and cheese mess 😊
That looks so nice. I woukd make it as a main meal, maybe put ham or bacon in, or even fish fingers. Have some nice crusty bread & butter on the side. Delicious. On my list now for meaks to make Cheryl.
i used to make this a few years ago for my 2 grandsons, after school, we called it cowboy pie
really hearty meal right there thx sort you out for the whole day that will
I make this but it has corndbeef ❤ lovely 😊
Can't wait to make this.
looks delicious
Thank you 😋 it really is!
Good evening Cheryl, your new chopping board is lovely 👌😍, hope you’re really pleased with it!🥰 Thanks as always for sharing this recipie, for a warming, comforting cheese & potato pie, will try this with your corned beef suggestion as not overly keen on the mashed tattie & baked beans combination. Very few things I don’t enjoy eating, (as you’ve probably gathered by now 😁), but for whatever reason, I just don’t enjoy it!🥴 Hope you enjoy what’s left of the week, & hello February, a teeny wee step closer to springtime 🙌😎! xx 👩🏻🍳🥔🧀😋💕💞🩷
Aw, did you send that?! How kind of you!
@@LindaC616 I wish I was talented enough to create such a lovely worktop saver Linda, but no it wasn’t me! I believe Cheryl commissioned it from a firm somewhere who can obviously transfer artwork onto kitchen items. I had previously commented on liking her other board, that’s why I got a mention!😊 xx 💖
@@davidmurphy816 gotcha! A nice shout out, either way!
@@LindaC616 👍😊
I had a go at this one earlier and it's so nice. Thanks Cheryl :) x

I've made something like this with chopped meat I had on hand, but I've never done baked beans. I am so intrigued by the use of the beans and extra white cheddar, and think it looks delicious, something I need to try. What kind of baked beans are you using?
Thank you as always for sharing with us, this looks delicious
Ultimate comfort food, love it tfs x
Great recipe thanks
Another mouth watering dish ❤
Love potatoes with cheese!
This looks perfect for a cold winter evening.
This was my basic student dinner! Other than the garlic, i did everything the same. Brings back memories. I'm going to make it again now!
Looks good!
Going to make this for my tea
I love tarties❤
Looks fab Cheryl
Hi, this looks great, and so easy! I’ll try it this week, with corned beef and onions I think. Served with sausages like your suggestion, thanks from N Wales 😃👍🏼🏴
Whow this meat and potatoe and beans dish looks delicious won’t be long and I will be making it for my family thank you
I HATE lumpy mashed potatoes and used to spend forever mashing and mashing and mashing to get them smooth. A few years ago I bought a ricer which makes smooth mash easy. A bit of a pain to clean, but well worth it (IMO).
Looks delicious ❤
Love this sort of comfort food 💕
boss tea easy peasy be doing that tonight thanks always great recipes
Oh my goodness, beans on the side AND on the inside!

Cheryl, I noticed the UK enjoys Baked Beans either for breakfast or dinner. Are your BB the same as the U.S.? Our canned (tinned) BB are sweet with Molasses & sometimes bacon. Is the flavor similar? Just curious. Love your videos & Beautiful Scotland 🏴 Ty … Blessings
Wow nice vlog

Could this be used as a filling in a scotch pie case
I noticed that your baked beans were in a sauce. I am from Canada. What baked beans should I use?
I saw a recipe recently for Scottish Cheese Pudding. Is that something you're familiar with?
🙂😎❤
Ooof ... idk about this! Says the American lol
