@@jonahzablow2132 yea that sounded like me around Christmas and new Year's it was super slow but I was able to catch up on stuff. Now things are starting to pick up and now I don't wanna work 😂😂😂
I'm all about code but thete are a lot of awkward situations like this where the house is old an the room is an add on done by a DIYer. In this case I'd probably cap them and then tape about 4 inces back from each cap so they can never twist off. Over time the tape will only get stronger. Then id tape the two caps together. The wiire will never come loose. The only thing you eliminated is the base of the light (whiche was small) from becoming energized. The risk of fire is still there because there is no gfci. In an case, this is a good video because it reminds me to not assume a light has no power simply because it's off and the base could be hot if no ground. In ither words, check around the light with your voltage tester.
Love the info good stuff brother! I quit taping wire nuts cus it could hide smoke or it could trap condensation ( which these properties gave leaks or old a will have leaks and lack of insulation) the box thing testing it before I love cus it could definitely save a life ! One miracle at a time. Thanks for watching. Looking forward to ur comments!
Dude!!!! I know!!! That's how around Christmas and new years it was for me. It's starting to pick up but I work weekends, what ever I have to do to make my life easier or when ever I feel like working lol 😆 . But the economy is in bad shape and keep in mind it's the beginning of the year so it's already slow. Alot of people don't have the the money. Always try to find extra avenues of income. I watch a bunch of utube videos on finance. I like " this is John Williams " "the economic ninja" "uneducated economist "
@thehandymanexperience226 thanks man. Yeah I do mostly weekends. I have a full time day job. Just enjoy helping people while I make some extra cash for the family. I always watch you talk about property managers and think about it, but looking where I live most have their own guys in house. Right now just trying to grow by word of mouth and would love by next year to be doing this full time. Just glad there are guys like you to teach stuff we don't always see and learn the business side of things, plus you're entertaining. Hoping it picks up and that you keep getting tons of cool jobs to show off
@0rijinal there's alot of property managers that do it in house but there is some that don't and that is key but the ones that do it in house might not do it the best
I appreciate how conscientious you are to make things safe and up to code. Were there early versions of NM/B electrical cable that had no ground wire? I seem to recall seeing some in some older homes. Also I was under the impression pull chain fixtures were no longer code. The only ones I have ever seen recently are the lampholder cellar type. I have had to add my own switches whenever the need arose.
Thanks!! Yea i'm always trying my best to make stuff safe for my scenarios. In these places, i'm out in bad spots all the time. Well i guess its good for utube. This was the first time I seen stranded romex!
03:09 Can't tell what brand of lampholder you bought, but if it is a Leviton plastic lampholder from Home Depot, it is a FIRE HAZARD. The point where the contact strips are riveted is a loose connection which becomes worse over time due to expansion(heating) and contraction(cooling) and will eventually arc possibly causing a fire. I recommend using a different brand or a Leviton porcelain holder. Note: Your setup might be okay because you added the screw in fixture, which puts the heat from the bulbs farther away from the lampholder.
Did a job yesterday where the homeowner tried replacing a gfci and double stacked switch, and he didn't deenergize the breaker first. He arced the hot to the metal box and blew the breaker. Also, he miswired the gfci. Plus, all three bathrooms were on one 20A breaker.
I've seen it before, my mom's house has all 3 bathroom outlets on 1 breaker. Yea people don't under stand line and load on the gfci's they probably compare it to a regular outlet
I'm not too crazy about that screw-in fixture because when people yank on that string, all the pressure is on the socket. Not a lot of other options, though, unless you are willing to do some drywall patching. Sometimes you just have to make do with what you are given and the allowed budget.
Wow the way u took those two lightbulbs out at the same time with both hands was amazing 😅. JK. How much would it cost to run the line to a switch on the wall by entrance? Pull Switch light in any room other than basement or closet I don’t get
Was that Porcelain base or plastic.? Good to see you went back to make it right. 👏by the way if you couldn’t tell the head lamp was on why even use it 😂 Great come back 👍👍
I know with the head lamp lol 😆 I felt so dump editing it. Just plastic base I do like porcelain bases but plastic sank less in the box that's why I used it. Both r junk I'm still trying to find a better base cus they are all just junk
The light you in installed should also have had a plastic mounting plate to hardwire it. I used them in closet remodels and dis the old porcelain pull chains with incandescent bulbs . Maybe the one you have only has the e27 base 🤷♀️
This one had a metal mounting plate and I said screw it cus that's adding more metal to the situation. But yea could have save money on the base but don't forget I have a tight box and I was worried about hard wiring it in. I was on the fence about mentioning it on the video but I'm glad you did
@@thehandymanexperience226 my only concern is when installing them with a lamp holder, is someone’s kid yanking the whole dang light out. Oh well You can only work with what You have. @ No, the closest thing You will find and they are rare is an adapter that fit BR style GfCI breakers to match the bussing in the wadsworth panel. If possible just put a GfCI dead front inline beside the panel.
I think it was 7 or 800 lumens but it's actually supposed to be a closet light. I just got a text from tenant saying the light is to bright for her son cus he has migraines. But that's all I could do
Doesn’t a metal box still need a ground because if someone touches that box and one of those wires come loose they get hurt. I just don’t know if I’d want that liability
Lol 😆 what do u want from plastic, I'm over here at the hardware store looking for plastic lights thinking cus quality went down they should be everywhere no there is metal like on every light lol 😆
Replaced an arcing 3-way switch today. Wished I had more to do, but that was it. Thanks for posting a new vid. Makes my day fuller!

Really like that trick with the stranded wire to screw post connection. Gonna steal that technique from you if you don't mind. Keep'm coming!
It's a commercial technique I would love to leave extra insulation but wires were getting short. Plus I was moving slow cus I was live shhh. Lol
Man you stay busy. I was 5 jobs the first 5 days of the year and now just crickets. God bless you man. Love watching your stuff.

Stranded wire around screw . To stop it walking off , twist the wire counter clockwise then tighten it under the screw . It won’t walk off , try it .

Many old houses used pull switches.

I literally installed 4 plastic pull chain lights in my attic this week, and yes, there is no ground!

@dmo8921 that's awesome u got some Wadsworth breakers bet u don't have a GFCI Wadsworth breaker lol 🤣

the pull chain is made of string (non conductive). You too worried :D
Lol amen this is true, I just wanna make sure it's right.
Where'd you buy the red and yellow screwdriver?
Ahh 500 lumens of doom! mood lighting at best

Well good the spin lights that's what they call them are great retrofit for many older places with lamp bases. I've actually "installed" 100s of them.

Wooo! Thanks, it's a crappy situation but I had to make it work!
Do the best you can where you are at with what you have .
Better safe than sorry 👉🏼

@thehandymanexperience226 the plastic light more $$$ than the metal one 😬🤯😱🤬
The light is "landlord quality".
Would you be open for a brand partnership? I'm wondering if we could discuss more through email. Thanks!
