When replacing a main breaker, everything should be reset to the OFF position, you turn external electrical disconnect ON, then you turn the main breaker ON, and you do the same with the rest of the breakers from bigger to smaller.
Depends on States. I you were in Florida, you can’t replace that Main Breaker. You should call the Electrical Contractor to do it. Handyman’s here in Florida. Are only allowed to replace light lamps and cover outlets and switches only
Brian...NEVER open the storm door to get to the main door! I was on a job one time and did that and when the main door opened I had a Rottweiler in my chest. Keep yourself protected at all times.
Greetings from Florida bro 👋👋👋now that's familiar work there 👍. I recently completed an entire house re-wire with 200 Amp and 40 breaker panel it was fun 😊....inspection was without issues 💪now when I tightened the main lines, here in FL we're required to squeeze in some heat sink on the hots before. It was aluminum.
Ín a pinch you would use a wash cloth, glove etc. instead of the tape so you don't scratch it. Love the vids thanks for sharing all the tips. Hope this helps. P.S. I live in Rocckford
⚠️ Quick Safety Note…. ALWAYS test for energized circuits before working on electrical equipment. The “no touch” sensing devices are notoriously unreliable and I’d never trust my life to only a quick check. If you only have one of those, simply “test” on a known “live” circuit immediately before using to test the equipment you’re working on. (to ensure it is functioning). For something as potentially dangerous as panel work, feeder work, etc… I always check with a “no contact” type tester *AND* test with a known working multimeter. It’s worth the extra few seconds to stay alive and safe. !
btw - while the cheap and feature rich Chinesium DMM’s are ok for bench or hobby work, don’t compromise when working in the field and with higher potential risks. Fluke / Greenlee / Klein (someone OEM’s the last 2) are worth the fee extra bucks. I’m a firefighter/paramedic and a licensed electrical contractor and have seen far too many AVOIDABLE arc flash injuries over the years. Thanks for your videos and channel
If you shop at Home Depot a lot and you aren’t signed up for Pro Extra you should. You get better prices on big lots of product they save all your receipts for the year and you have 365 day returns. The more you spend the more discounts you can get.
That's for the info! Yea I got my pro extras. I barley see any incentives. I usually just but clearance items from there now. Home Depot quit matching menards 11 % off so I was like screw them,I don't need to give my business
Nice video. Don’t touch the head of the torque wrench when in use, can give you a false reading. I know it gets tricky to support the flat head type socket from sliding off the fastener.
The clog business is alive and well! It amazes me how people can’t seem to stop letting food go down their drains you would think people want to throw away their hard earned money the way business is booming
Yupp I was curious on your on service calls prices we about the same pricing for the property management work. I appreciate the insight and time. You and your family Merry Christmas. I am in Columbus and Delaware, ohio area
Was wondering, do you markup you're material? Sometimes i just give a customer a total price that includes labor and material and sometimes i itemize it.
torque wrench’s come in inch pounds and foot pounds definitely a big difference in torque. Sparky you grab the two load lines one in each hand than you say “you should check for voltage before touching”🤣hopefully you didn’t purchase that black electrical tape from harbor freight they have the worst tape you can buy. Instead of an accountant you should hire a housekeeper for the van.😬It would’ve been a good idea to run the water before attaching the shower head to remove any particles in the shower arm. Handyman on a roll today made money and spent money, great job triple feature 👏👏
The're insulated haha. Yea I could have purged it, I wasn't too worried. Tape isn't from harbor freight but it really doesn't matter just cus I just use it to wrap outlets and switches. Yea the van needs to be cleaned. It's probably gonna get worse ha I'm ok with it 😆
Do your breakers always look like that when they're new? Compared to what i'm used to this one looke like it's been found on a junkyard 10 years ago. Since we use totally different stuff over here, this job would've been far cheaper in europe. But it would also be 25A fuses instead of a 100A breaker.
Yes the smoke alarm strikes agian!. That is certainly a ghetto way of doing a socket slotted bit maybe pick up a cheap rail at hf when you next there 😆. There's many people I work with who appreciate the videos along with me of course. Way to go on replacing the rusty trim ring on the shower too it was staring at me 😆. For me if it's one or two shower heads that keep leaking it's ussaly the stub out pipe they fail too. I too can't stand thoes plastic parts and I found a good company for metal shower/tub parts. They are on az called hammerhead 🚿 they make all thoes shower heads tub spouts adapters all chromed brass. They don't make anything chincy and are great replacements for the shower wand holders (all brass). I know land lords are cheap but I've never had to go and fix a brass nipple with a all metal tub spout unless it's 70 years old. I use thoes trim rings all the time too especially with flimsy or cracked tub surrounds. You can seal stuff up better with that extra pressure on the surround instead if leaving a gap like a "butcher". 500 for a main breaker is as cheap price here for anything with a license. Great stuff keep it comming 👍.
Yea I was looking at harbor freights flat heads and they were huge!! Probably too big. That's why I didn't get it. I ordered one. Yea certain parts I cheap out on certain ones I won't. Yea the pipe was definitely messed up on that 1. Thanks man I appreciate it!
If you want a small torque screwdriver that goes into the 50 ilbs range check out wera torque safe it's what I use. It's in nm but it almost equals out to the same ranges you need for alot of things. It's not a all day use some small handle but it weighs nothing and would have done what you needed without taking up too much space in your "book bag" aka boat anchor ⚓️ 😆
I worked at a apartment complex and they had the plumber come out and ran a snake through the pipes and it went thru the side of one of the apartments toilet so had to replace that in the morning when I got there fun times garbage disposable was another fun one the manager hated black and Mexican people so they would catch me in the hall making my rounds and I would unplug the sink reset button are the wrench that goes with it they thanked me I told them not to let the manager know and when I got work order they got a new garbage disposable i didn't care you treat people right i haven't worked there in over 25 years but still remember me 😊
Must have been a mess cleaning up the toilet! Thanks yea, I just treat people how I would like to be treated even tho I'm not perfect but I try to get better and better everyday 🙂
@thehandymanexperience226 it was not bad the people were home it was an emergency job would of been worse but thank God you take care doing what you do good and bad in all people like that thing about a guy going to repair something and charges 200dollars and only takes him five minutes and they complain he tells them you have to know where to hit it at knowledge is the key to everything we do live and learn how to make jobs easier and faster thanks for getting back to me my friend
Why did you go with torque ratchet instead of torque screw driver? Harbor has Quinn Torque screwdriver for 54 dollars, and it goes to 50 lbs. just curious, I do see that torque wrenches are more utilized tho lol
I started with quick books way back, I used Intuit checks and software..I had around 10 employees when I was building homes and the quick books kept up with all the withholding taxes etc.....ive had people say I was expensive....I always replied compared to WHAT ?
I think they just got the place decently clean so the property manager could see if there was any damage. Than I'm sure there going to go in to do the turn

I always back off my main lugs after tightening. So the wire rests itself, then tighten to torque.

What are 'no-locks' you mentioned at 16.48, Brian?
Noalox is an anti-oxidant compound used to improve the conductivity and service life of aluminum electrical connections:
that was a sub panel main breaker, not a MAIN breaker. The main wouldn't be able to be turned off without pullling the meter. Good stuff tho
My bad !
Will you take the failed one appart? I want to see what caused it to stick.
Some stuff I do but I won't, who knows what happened to it
How are u able to work on this electical equipment as you are not licensed to work on electrical systems?
