    Used values for the Evo's are still pretty high up around here in NorCal though. Can't even find one for under $17k regardless of the mileage here

    • @ps3alphagamer12
      @ps3alphagamer12 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Verik yeah man this goes for all performance cars across the states the prices vary heavily. For example when i was stationed in Tennessee i could find low mileage stock evos going for 20k or less this one evo 8 i found had 52k miles stock everything going for 15k a fucking steal for that price also found an sti that was absolutely beautiful with tasteful mods going for 14k with only 55k miles!!!!

    • @bm4558
      @bm4558 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CLV$$Y saw an evo 9 just bolt ons and a tune running 350whp with 61k miles for 12k here in Southern California

    • @ps3alphagamer12
      @ps3alphagamer12 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      B M hell yeah man some people sell their shit for fair prices man, its kind off ass backwards now a days, all the heavily modified shit goes for astronomical value but the mostly stock shit is being sold for dirt cheap. One example was again when i was living in Tennessee there were 2 beautiful FD RX7’s on sale on craigslist one was stock for the most part with a freshly rebuilt motor going for like 15-16k and a ls swaped fd with higher miles on the body going for 30k. I remember just a few years ago modified cars were being sold for way less than their stock counterparts in the same condition and thats how it should’ve stayed but i guess its just the new norm now to make you money back on the mods

    • @dominicancheif117
      @dominicancheif117 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just like the Subie situation here out east. Even shitty modded ones go for at least $12k.

      Verik I’m from NorCal I see clean ones going from 15-20k all the time low mile 8-9

    One reason why I think Evo's are underrated is because people seem not to understand the concept of a tuner car. Evo is one of the best blank-canvas cars for tuning (with STI and GTR), as a stock one sucks a lot but they are relatively easy to adjust to driver's preferences

    I remember buying an Acura RSX Type-S... my insurance was $230/month. I had to trade it in. I took insurance into consideration when i recently bought my GTI. Brand new GTI is only costing me $54 /month. It's a 4-door hatchback.. and I'm glad there isn't a huge demand like there is for Civics or STIs/EVOs. I too am worried about big wings and an aggressive looking car that will be a cop magnet. I can de-badge my GTI and make it look like a Golf TSI, haha. But my biggest reason for going with a GTI is because I was driving a car getting 16 MPG... and the GTI with a stage 1 or 2 can get 35 MPG and 350 HP on a Limited Slip Diff.

  • @E85_STI
    @E85_STI 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Same with the Sti the wing is at the very top of the mirror so it doesnt block any of your view.

    I drove my friends evo9 a month ago, its comfortable to drive, feels like a BMW with 2x the power and when theres tons of torque from 2000rpm already. Feels like the car wants to keep going forever when it hits 2500, it just starts to pull harder and harder even if you try to feather the throttle :D
    Really, stock evo is a very nice car. And no it doesnt rattle much or have alot of road noise. Feels like the maker of the video has mods on his car and its had its wear already :)

  • @enriquemariano5715

    interior is easy to fix...
    power windows are not a necessity... manual window can help you exercise..
    Cruise control.....if you're really a good driver with focus on the street and your speed which should always be the case..as in other simpler words...disciplined and defensive driving...then this is not a problem.
    Rear Spoiler.. yeah it can be distracting... so better adjust the design to fit street riding... coz the original design is more for rally driving...
    Insurance.. yes I agree with you on that... but here in Manila... not really an issue.
    Someone wanting to race... if the road permits then why not... but the risk will always rest on the driver...
    Cant keep your foot on the gas....that's exciting thou... and depends if the Fuel price in your area is affordable..unlike here in Manila, its almost US1.25/litter already (or say US$4.85/gallon).
    bottom line....you are great and love your vlog and you do have a nice evo...

    Ha Ha Ha!!! I feel you on a lot of these. Except the diss on the Evo X MR bro. 😎😋 I love an old school manual, however, that twin clutch from a factory standpoint is much better than the 5-speed. Obviously upgrading (cheaper) you have a point. As my DD, I have zero regrets and wonder if the car would have sold better if people realized it’s a baby GTR and straight up a steal for the 💰

  • @cheapeach
    @cheapeach 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why tune an Evo man, that is my question. It is already perfectly set up from factory, after a certain degree if tuning, it becomes a pain to own and to drive. If you want something fast, and I am not talking to YOU, but to anyone who owns such a vehicle, buy something faster. The car loses its real point when it is tuned. There are no actual reasons for someone to hate, or not to like it, it is what it is, a road-going rally car, that is meant to be spartan and full of plastic.

    • @cheapeach
      @cheapeach 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a perfect balance of power and usabilty, which gets ruined when the car is tuned. It is said by many experts that know many about these cars and you cant retain that balance, unless you tune it to perfection. That is my opinion and I believe that what is done to Evos is wrong. 400hp is more than enough with a slight tune...

      George Vranos Yes, ...but you personally have a different definition of what a perfect ratio of daily drivability vs power is vs someone else. Some people want more and will trade more than you're okay with for it.

    There are so very few things that i dont like about my Evo 8 that i dont really have enough complaints to create an actual list, but the one thing i absolutely dont like is definitely the Turning Radius! I have to do a 3 point turn a lot more than i would like. I guess if you plan on making power, the tranny's, especially the 6MT is pretty weak, but i had English rebuild mine and now its solid! The interior is pretty average, but i have an SSL model, and i love the leather interior!
    what i think is far more important to know is the common issues that these Evos have.
    I wouldnt let any of these problems stop you from buying one of these awesome cars, but If you DO buy an Evo 8/9, these are the top things to check out ASAP after you buy it.
    1)
    *PROBLEM: Ignition Switch malfunction.
    *SYMPTOMS: Car is hard to start. Sometimes takes a few minutes to get it to turn over.
    *FIX: Take the column covers off and tighten the screws on the switch located on the left side. If this doesnt fix it, u'll need to replace the switch
    *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 10-20min
    2)
    *PROBLEM: Key Switch Reminder short
    *SYMPTOMS: Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep even when the keys are out of the ignition. Key FOB wont work
    *FIX. Take column covers off and remove the little white box right behind the ignition. Either replace the entire harness with ignition keyring light & reminder, or you can just delete that function all together by connecting the 2 green wires that go to the reminder switch, & the car will always think the keys are out.
    *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 10-20min
    3)
    *PROBLEM: (If you have a Sunroof) Sunroof stops working because the screws that hold the motor to the roof come loose.
    *SYMPTOMS: Broken Sunroof
    *FIX: Remove the headliner to access the sunroof motor, find the loose screws. Manually push the sunroof to the fully open position. push the open button so the motor goes to the open position. Screw the motor back up and make sure to use loctite this time.
    *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 30min to an hour depending on how familiar you are with removing the headliner.
    4)
    *PROBLEM: Water corroding the lower Drivers side harness(This was definitely the most serious issue ive had)
    *SYMPTOMS: Lights not turning Off, Wipers going Crazy, Car not turning off....Pretty much all accessories go haywire. What happens is water gets through the fender grommet on the drivers side and drips down the harness wires and rests in the connectors behind the kick panel under the dash and corrodes all the wires.
    *FIX: Basically rewiring two of the connectors(about 20 wires). It only looks like a few wires are effected at first glance, but 99% of the time they all need to be rewired. All 3 wires in the black connector, and all wires in the white connector located above the black one. Hard wiring with solder is the best way to fix, but waterproof heat shrinking solder connectors work well. Make sure to seal the grommet w/ silicone & use a lot of dielectric grease on all the new connections.
    *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 1-2Hrs depending on method
    5)
    PROBLEM: Power Window wont work
    SYMPTOMS: Power window regulator cable breaks, causing the window to not work.
    FIX: You can buy just the regulator w/o motor and replace that.
    TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: About 45 min
    6)
    *PROBLEM: Fuel Tank Lid broken
    *SYMPTOMS: Fuel Tank Lid wont Pop
    *FIX: Replace the missing Spring
    *TIME IT TOOK TO FIX: 5min
    HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE

      Depends how much you're willing to spend. Most important part of buying an evo is making sure you have a shop locally that knows how to work on it since i can almost guarantee you any normal repair shop will fuck your evo up. That or get ready to buy a bunch of tools and learn how to do it right yourself like czero. Evos aren't really all that unreliable, but for the most part they are kinda cheap cars, and you get alot of dipshit kids running the fucking thing into the ground and not really putting much back into maintaining it. Keep up with your fluid changes, don't launch the fuck out of it everyday, and do the servicing at its intervals and the car probably wont have any real issues.

    In my humble opinion, except if you're a dedicated drag racer, everyone who takes the wing off an Evo or Impreza deserves a slap in the face. With that being said, when I first got my STI I wasn't used to the wing in the back and I always felt like someone was following me 👀

    I also have an 03 gsr and have most of the same complaints, except I like that the wing blocks the headlights, makes it so the car behind me doesnt blind me. But I feel the rally red fades like crazy too, when I got it my car was basically was pink. Also im almost 20 and have had the car for 2.5 years and never got a ticket, so im happy to say im not one of those kids who drives like a douche with an evo

      i'd be curious just how much weight savings it actually is... because a Ti Exh. is going to be super light as it is. if he did a side exit with stainless steel, there's a chance its just as heavy, if not more heavy than a Ti.

    Topic suggestion - Is it better to buy a Stock Evo or Modified Evo

    • @jonathancamilo952
      @jonathancamilo952 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      0KFilms from what I've heard is that if you buy a modified evo you never know if they did the job right. Any used evo will probably have some mods to it. But if you find a stock one I personally say that's better so you know what's been put into the car and how well it was put together.

    • @joshmcdermott4471
      @joshmcdermott4471 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jonathan camilo I second that, it goes for any car really

    • @shawnhacker8874
      @shawnhacker8874 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends. A lot of times a “stock” evo was once 500+whp from my experience and the past owner just converted it back to stock so they could get the most money from the car. (Selling the modified parts for cash + stock part) also stock evos tend to run a few thousand more dollars in my area. Where as a modified one may or may not have been put together the correct way... how do you tell? Own the car for a month or two and see what weird issues start to pop up

    • @CMH_1975
      @CMH_1975 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shawn Hacker this guy knows what he's talking about. Just cause it's stock doesn't mean it's been stick it's whole life. Both Evo's I owned were bought new (03' GSR and 06' GSR SE) and both were sold modified. I actually felt better selling them modified rather than converting them back to stock.

    Your accent is very charming my man. (No homo)
    Asians are awesome. In my experience they tend to be polite, disciplined, and stay on the grind financially. I live in NY now but I’m from South Louisiana. Louisiana is not very diverse. It’s almost 50/50 white and black. But there is a small Mexican community and Vietnamese. All my Vietnamese friends have done so well for themselves in life. They all had badass cars and a nice brick house by 25. Well by 25 they were in their like 5th really nice vehicle, first one by the age of 19. They all have new Lexus, Infiniti, or an older 90’s legendary JDM car like a RX7 or Evo. I should have done like my best friend and married a Vietnamese girl. No I just had to go Italian.🤦🏻‍♂️
    My boy that married the Vietnamese girl, her family had a nail salon. He told me at the end of everyday, they bring a literal big bag of cash to the bank.
    Well I just shared a ton of weirdly personal unnecessary info LOL.
    Anyways keep killing it Asians. I’m sorry about the recent attack/mass shooting that happened against the Asian community. Much love✌🏼

    Another prevalent issue with the Evos' are their garbage hydraulic valve lifters. They come from factory with terribly small bleed holes. Instead of Mitsubishi taking responsibility and recalling them, they alternatively brought out 3 generations of revised lifters which you can purchase at an exorbitant fee. I have owned my Evo 8 GSR for nearly a year and I've already ran into this problem with only 62,000kms on the clock, which is truly disappointing. I've had them replaced since for an inordinate fee.
