  • None of these issues are extremely technical. I'm not a mechanic or technician so I decided to keep the issues I discussed simple. Let me know if you would like for me to discuss other things!

    Good info brother, I might add to that list- the throttle body shaft seals, crank position sensor, cam position sensor and also the 3/4/5 Bar MAP sensors on tuned Evos

    • @CJ2X
      @CJ2X  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Wanted to keep it on the realm of simple things. When getting into sensors, those kinda require a diagnosis. I might do a little more in depth vid on other issues. The throttle body one is a common one I should’ve added though.

    This is a really good, surface level video for owners or potential owners. The only thing that seems a bit too much for the novice is the addition of the HLA and upgraded pan. Oil starvation won't be an issue without sticky tires and some decent aero

    • @CJ2X
      @CJ2X  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I agree on the oil starvation, however there are some folks that want to track their cars as soon as they get them and this is cheap insurance..

      @@CJ2X Hi CJ and Shawn, I'm planning to get an evo 9 myself from a friend of mine. To cut story short, it is a bone stock evo (with only aftermarket exhaust, and about 260,000km mileage) but the oil needs to be top up once a week.
      Question is: is it common that that oil consumption like so? or is there something to look it like piston, rings, turbo leak, etc.

    • @CJ2X
      @CJ2X  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adiivibgyor that is not normal. I would have the car looked at by a mechanic before purchasing.

    Absolute 💯 with your content as usual bro, still don't know why you ain't got more subs! One thing I'd love to understand, is how the boot mechanism works, basically my trunk was replaced with a Seibon carbon trunk and has no wing but the trunk is unable to pop up by itself and I have no idea how to fix it. I have to hold the trunk open with one hand every time I want to get stuff in and out, pain in the ass, if you can do a brief video on that or share something that would be awesome dude 🤙🏻

      @@Gattsu1986 so.. You have to pull the latch in the cabin and prop it open, then head to the trunk and force it open? I’m having a hard time envisioning what the issue is.. Does your CF trunk have a key lock?

    • @CJ2X
      @CJ2X  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Gattsu1986 seems like that’s an issue with the trunk rods. Unfortunately, I have no experience with the issue you’re facing. Best advice I have is to join the Lancer Evolution Tech Talk and Troubleshooting group on Facebook and ask them.. There are a lot of knowledgeable people on there.

    • @Gattsu1986

    Can u explain how fitment is assessed for wheels and how offset matters when u don’t want to roll your fenders. For example my 2008 TL Type S I’d like to keep stock height and keep the same wheel size 17 inch. I appreciate your knowledge 👌👌

    • @CJ2X
      @CJ2X  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting place to ask but offset is the measurement from where the wheel hub mounts to the hub/wheel bearing in the car. If you were to cut the wheel in half, that’s a 0 offset. Anything towards the rim of the wheel is a + offset and anything passed the other half is - offset. Majority of regular cars use a + offset unless you have a wide body. Anyways, Offset affects fitment because the “more aggressive” (closer to 0), the more the wheel is going to poke. Additionally, the more aggressive an offset is, the more concave the spokes tend to be.. I hope that makes sense.

    1. Can also get the fuel filler clip from the junkyard on 2008+ Lancers. 2. ACD pump is crazy expensive - I think I paid $1800. 3. Inside the fuel filler area, water lays down in the channel near the body and sometimes seeps down into the body, eventually rusting out the fuel filler area. A$$$k me how I know.

    This is my dream car, I’m only 16. Do u think I can learn manual off this car? Are they hard to drive? What age did u buy this car at? And is maintenance of the car expensive? Insurance? I wouldn’t go crazy, I would keep it more stock. I want a 8/9, and do u know if e85 destroys your car? It’s cheaper than premium, but if it destroys your car it’s not worth it just for the hp IMO. A mechanic I know says it destroys your car overtime. Sorry for all the questions just really curious about the evo 😂

    • @CJ2X
      @CJ2X  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Damn.. I’m sorry I didn’t answer this. Must’ve got lost in translation. I learned manual off mine but already had an idea of how to drive manual due to motorcycles. I was 21 when I bought it. The car is expensive to maintain now that they’re becoming more rare and parts are becoming more expensive due to supply and demand. They say E85 destroys your tank and lines due to not having any detergents but I haven’t had any issues. These are all questions I plan on answering in the future.

In my experience, Subarus aren’t reliable unless you absolutely don’t modify them and baby them. Evos can take a little more abuse.
