So this is basically it... Yoda as a Grand master: The strict teacher that didn’t take anyone’s shit. Luke as a Grand master: The cool teacher that is basically your friend.
Ultimate LifeForm Well yeah but the fact that you couldn’t have relationships see your family no attachments and dedicate your life to the order and be in complete control over your your emotions some of those rules seemed harsh I’m not saying Yoda was cruel or evil but he did kind of rule with a bit of a iron fist when it came to rules.
Nah, if anything Yoda was much closer to the cool uncle/granddad Luke is like the dad that tries to be cool with you but ends up dictating what you can do with your life (even if a lot of his wants later turn out to be right)
+xX_M3M3M4ST3R_Xx, To be accurate, the original Jedi order had allowed marriage in ancient times of Tython so Luke is reviving the old Jedi teachings that were forgotten.
Eric Brian Breheny Leia forgave her father by the time Tatooine Ghost. It reveals how she found out her father was the “hero” (human who won the pod race and went on to be a Jedi), his first “fall” when he rescued his mom from the sand people and even got to learn about shmi, whom left a journal pad for Anakin. I recommend the book.
Better than the sequel trilogy's one where they were all killed offscreen, the temple was destroyed and the out of character ST version of Luke became a coward who ran away to an island and drank alien boob milk.

This makes so much more sense than the Disney version. He believed in trying to talk people back to the light side, just like he did with his father. Not try to kill his nephew because of a vision.
James Burgess it wasn’t snoke, snoke was a clone much like palpating in the latest movie, palpating was the one manipulating him, u can see the clones of snoke in a tank and palpatine is obviously a clone, no one could survive that fall, not even him
Damn, imagine this being a game. You're a padawan under the new Jedi Order created by Luke himself. Yo go on quests, make decisions and carry out your destiny. Would you embrace the light or the dark? That would be amazinggg.

Man, I would've loved to see this sort of stuff in the new movies. We'd be able to see firsthand just how different Luke and his philosophies were from the Jedi order of episodes 1-3.
Sultan eu luke: i dont kill you because i felt the good in you and everyone could went to the dark side and everyone could come back Disney luke: i felt darkness in my nephew, should i kill him
They made Luke a more realistic, relatable character as he was in the original trilogy. Meanwhile, most of the Legends stuff after the Thrawn Trilogy made him into a flawless Force god...
@@jakobfel2 Uh... what the fuck are you talking about? One of the first things that happened to Luke _after_ the Thrawn trilogy was that he was put into a coma by a Force spirit; even after that, he had to contend with fallen students causing trouble throughout the galaxy. Even after becoming one of the most powerful Force users in the universe, he still underwent character development, having to figure out what the role of the Jedi were, questioning his own methods, and admitting his own philosophical flaws. He was _far_ from a flawless character, and made all the more interesting because his struggles weren't strictly about power, but purpose- regardless of how much power he wielded (power which he trained for and earner), he still continued to suffer through conflicts (losing people he loved), and always had more to learn from his own students (most of whom were capable of kicking his ass in a lightsaber duel, as Kyle Katarn often did). Unlike Rey, whose _entire character_ is that she's simply powerful without earning it or learning it. Not a shred of development, not an ounce of ramifications for her mistakes. She takes the mantle of a Jedi Master without breaking a sweat.
This will always be the true canon. Disney's was just a fan fic with a big budget. Correction: Disney's was just personal agenda that fucked up everything we know and love about Star Wars.
This is why i felt Vader/Anakin fullfilled his prophecy. The Jedi order was very flawed. Anakin tore down the old order to make room for Luke's new one.
I wish we saw this Luke in the new films . Luke believed in everyone and that no matter how much they have fallen they can be redeemed . Instead the moment he feels darkness he tries to murder his nephew in his sleep . They ruined my childhood and so many others with what they did to Luke .
I personally prefer this version of Luke's sentiment of how the Jedi Order should be over what we received in *Canon* mainly because the *Legends* Luke Skywalker seems less restrictive, more proactive, and open minded which fits the character nicely.
Exactly because Luke himself experience how to become a Jedi without being ignorant or arrogant through the struggles of Yoda’s training and the fight with the Empire. He wants his students to go through a similar experience.
Not only that, he also thought the Old Jedi Order was a bit fucked up, like said ijn the video. The one that stood out most to me was the relationship thing, use of blaster over lightsabers, and freedom of choices. Too bad Disney fucked it up.
This is the Jedi order I don't mind being a part of. It is more flexible, understanding and easy going that the old order. This Luke Skywalker is the kind that should have been in the last Jedi movie
but Luke was confused cuz he was so flexible he didn't sense the darkness in Ben, but still ended with the same views as he had in legends, in canon Imperial propaganda was still spreading in the New Republic which limited what Luke could learn about the Force
Robo_Destroyer / Darth Troller no dude it wasn't even about him being too flexible the last Jedi made him "SCARED" of Ben....... "LUKE" The Most Powerful Star Wars Chracter Ever...Scared...of A character made up by Disney. Jesus I'm getting angry just thinking about that shit.
Luke Skywalker in the Legends stories is the Luke we all know. He takes Yoda's advice to heart, doesn't give up and keeps pushing on. He actually succeeds in creating a new Jedi Order that flourishes, he allows his students greater leeway, and he learns from them. But Luke sadly knows he can't save all of them from the dark side, as is the case with Brakiss, Dolph, Alema Rar, and Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus.
So glad I never cared to invest in Disney Star Wars or buy into the misleading "Dave Filoni is the savior of Star Wars/he's gonna restore Legends" myths, clickbait, and propaganda.
Let’s be honest no Jedi order is perfect but that just fine it give you chance to grow in like Luke said every generation is going face it struggles it all keep hope in you when times of darkness.
I vastly prefer Legends Luke's Jedi Order to the stiffs of the past. The old Order essentially took the Jedi and tried to make them non-persons. They attempted to keep them from being able to relate to the people due to the average person's fallibility and susceptibility to the darkness. The basically told their members to stop being people. Luke saw how pointless and self-destructive such rules could be, and thus decided to rebuild the Order without them. Luke understood that love, creativity, individuality, duty, and serving a greater purpose were not mutually exclusive, understanding how embracing love and an appreciation of the people and oneself as a person could make a Jedi that much more dedicated and committed to the cause of protecting the peace than just doing it out blind obedience.
Well.... it is kinda like too many white people. I have been reading the Fate of The Jedi series and it's like the Brady Bunch. Too many Skywalker and Solo relations. Ben Skywalker as a"come on dad" teenager, Jayden Solo had to Kill her brother Jaycen, Jaycen Killed his Aunt Mara and Anakin Solo . Some other youngling Skywalker girl. Leia, Luke, and Han don't seem to have changed at all even 45 ABY except Luke is a wise old Grandmaster widower. Han still is a show off and Leah argues with Han all the time. I am enjoying it but it is not what I was expecting. Not sure if it would be movie worthy, it would be tough.
Luke's Jedi Order sounds A LOT better than the Old Jedi Order I love the old Order don't get me wrong but if I were to choose which Order to join, easy I would join Luke's because I want more freedom in becoming a Jedi
Phil zu Neide the New Canon is complete utter shit and deserves every ounce of hatred that comes towards it tell me when one new character in the Disney kitty cannon that could send it to Greatness from just a random character from the expanded universe that's right you can't I can take a dead zombified Stormtrooper kind of Star Wars novel known as death Troopers the second book which showed zombies in the Starwars universe and put that did trooper against kylo Ren or Ray in the Storm Trooper would still win why don't we take this into account kylo Ren got his ass kicked by force-user who had absolutely no training whatsoever and yeah he came from a very powerful force-sensitive line that were the Skywalkers and not to mention that Chiron has very massive daddy issues and is extremely insecure not to mention kylo Ren is a complete rip-off of jacen solo
Tyler Dunn Could you please try to write proper sentences, it is really difficult to understand what you say without punctuation. Secondly, you complain about the new canon but you also don't like it when they reuse characters from the old EU? Seems a bit paradoxical to me.
15 years? I thought it was like 5. jeez so much for passing what you have learned (yoda). I could do on. luke should lost a temple when he was younger. then he should of seemed guidance from Indian yoda and anakin. by now in the movies luke should have fixed the problems in the order and perfected the jedi order. he should have a son to named Ben like the books. and Leia and man should have more then one kid at least 3, when they kill off jump there's no Skywalker. I hate this trilogy .
well the point of the scene was that even luke skywalker can fall for a moment. all the trilogy is about how the force is a thing aside from jedi and siths and that there can be a world without both of them
It's really retarded because if they wanted to inject "muh diversity" into star wars they could have built it up with the new jedi order and it would have been done in a much more respectful and canonical way. That's how the retcons used to happen with the prequels, the movies came out and a few changes happened here and there in the EU and everything kept moving forward.
I would love to be a Jedi during Luke’s era. The old Jedi order’s logic is “Love leads to attachment, attachments lead to pain and pain leads to the dark side and everything about the dark side is evil and should not be used.” Luke’s logic is “Be open with your emotions, feel love, get married and the dark side can be used safety.”
Luke believed that everyone was capable of falling to the dark side. But everyone was capable of returning to the light. And yet Disney decided it was in his character to decide, even for a moment, to kill his sleeping nephew because he sensed darkness in him. Bravo 😂🖕🖕
Luke wasn’t trying to kill Kylo. It’s said that Luke ignited his lightsaber instinctively but never attacked Ben and even realized he shouldn’t have ignited it.
@@kieranmaguire3293 But he still legitimately thought of doing that to his nephew for showing mere hints of the dark side, while in RoTJ he belived that Vader, a complete and utter monster, could return to the light.

Alex Chaudhari and? George didnt care for the eu And i do care for the eu For me its the real canon What lucas says dont make the storys better or worse
This. This is the Luke Skywalker I wanted in the newer movies. Not necessarily a juggernaut, but a person, who no matter how dark things are, no matter who falls to the dark side, never gives up on you and will keep on fighting to the end.
It's a shame that the new canon portrayed Luke as the same old Jedi, willing to kill the moment there was some Dark Side present in a person. It's not surprising the fact that Hamill himself didn't enjoy the role all too much
or Luuke Skywalker, Luke Skywalker psychopathic Clone. Maybe Mark Hamill have done research and read on Luke Skywalker in the Expanded Universe or Star Wars Legend comic, and he saw the EU Luke is more of a wise, open-minded master whom cared for everyone within the Galaxy regardless of classes and his fellow Jedis. EU Luke Skywalker was also the most powerful Jedi to ever lived
Kazuma Uchiha Starkiller is the strongest Jedi to have ever lived.. homie brought down tie fighters with ease & entire ships with sum struggle. Yoda never even came close to that kind of power... otherwise he would’ve broke darth sidiuos neck like a tooth pick 😂
The old order never killed anyone for sensing the dark side in them. They just left. Anakin was WELL over the edge not some little spark that could be quenched out
Legends Luke: "everyone is capable of falling to the dark side, but all can be redeemed." Disney's Luke: "Must kill my kid nephew in his sleep because I had a vision that he'll destroy the order." -runs away in self exile, becomes a shell of his former self, lives in constant fear, dies. Lmao 😂😂
Legends Luke seems to me like some sort of SW-Christian, if that makes any sense. Loves the sinner (the fallen Jedi) but hates the sin (the idea of the Dark Side).
It's amazing how the new Jedi Order in Legends makes a hell of a lot more sense than the current Disney f****** Canon. It's truly awful what they did to Luke in The Last Jedi. I mean it really goes completely against Luke's character. Luke Skywalker isn't a coward and he would never abandon his friends. The fact that the new Jedi Order isn't present in the current Canon even in a small form is so wrong. Disney f****** up Star Wars is truly a tragedy.
Didn't he say that Luke's Jedi council was destroyed on Yavin 4? I think their group was too small. Also, they were not strongly linked to the new republic which made them too tempting a target for imperialists and manipulative dark force users.
@CrimsonNerd Luke believed enough that he could redeem his own father despite the fact that for more than 20 years he'd been a participant in major atrocities, mired in despair and grief, immersed in the dark side. ... But no- the moment he has a vision of darkness about Ben, it's time to kill his ass dead while sleeping. _Fuck Rian Johnson._
I agree that Luke is the best Jedi who ever lived, but I think Qui Gon was better than Obi Wan, honestly. Obi Wan had such and dogmatic and limited view of the Force, Qui Gon had a broader and in my opinion better view.
@@r0ninh01 I agree as this is way qui gon wanted but could never get it because he died the main reason why people like Obi wan and thinks he’s a really good Jedi is because after everything he has gone through he remained a Jedi and would help (he still is a great Jedi of course)
Exactly, they kinda shot themselves in the foot with this one. A lot of stories could've been told if not for the kill "All" of the Jedi stance and not even leaving two survivors alive .
Actually it's pretty much the same. In legends, Han and Leia have a son named Jacen Solo who falls to the dark side and kills a ton of other jedi, including Luke's wife.
Serwarden Luke's Jedi Order didn't collapse because of it though. His order in Legends lasted around 130 years after it was founded before the majority of it was destroyed by The One Sith Empire. Even then, many of its members survived and were aided by a sister organization called the Imperial Knights.
The same thing happens in legends as in the movies. Luke trains Han and Leia's son, Jacen Solo as a jedi, but Jacen falls to the dark side and kills a ton of jedi and reforms the empire. His sister, Jaina, kills him in the end.
4:30 Luke was a strong believer in redemption?!!! wow and this coming from the same luke that disney had him try to kill his sister's and best friend's kid in his sleep. wow its almost like disney never got his character and how this same person tried to redeem his child killing, jedi and civilian mass murder father to the light, regardless of his past deeds. jeez ruin johnson and Kathleen kennedy with her (no one can relate to luke) bullshit have ruined one of the greatest fictional characters in cinema. the EU will always be the true canon for me
Legends Luke: Rebuilds the jedi order and encouraging and giving hope to his fellow Jedi padawans Disney Luke: Abandons all of his friends runs away like a coward instead of trying to help the rebels defeat the first order (You guys see the major differences )
Its because luke would of overshadowed Kennedys shitty self insert OC Ray. But honestly even if they used more writing from EU it still would of been bad. The writers and producers sucked ass.
Luke didn’t abandon his friends out of cowardice, he left because he thought the light side would find an outlet that didn’t involve the Jedi and the Sith. He did the only thing he thought was right, by getting rid of the Jedi and the Sith it would save the galaxy by not having an arrogant religion of the force. In the prequels, the Jedi’s religion is so powerful it becomes almost corrupt to an extent, and leads to Anakin’s rise in power and the Dark side to overpower the light.
So, a character that is actually consistent with his arc throughout the original trilogy and not a copy pasted version of old man Logan? Call me an idiot, but i think i prefer that version more than what we got with the last SW movie, and i really do not care about Star wars or the EU that much.
Lawrence, do you think Star Wars Legends is better than Star Wars Canon? I remember General Grevious' origin use to be canon but of all of a sudden it's no longer canon, what the hell Disney.
shadowstarthe1st and how does Aiden exactly work you complete fucking idiot the expanded universe will always be Canon it doesn't matter what Disney says or pathetic sellouts like what you say
2:44 *"though traditional jedi robes, seemed to be a standard at formal ceremonies"* Except for Kyle Katarn, who just wore his leather jacket to everything.
I think this is the reason why I keep hating on the new canon. This just makes so much more sense than Luke giving up. Hell, Desann even slaughtered most of the jedi praxeum in jedi Outcast, yet the new jedi order continued on healthily for survival. Yeah, I get it, the new canon with the Last Jedi puts the whole jedi mythology on a deeper level (as in, Luke realising and sort of teaching Rey why it was flawed), but that's exactly why it went wrong as well: Luke actively ruled out the old flaws in the legends Jedi Order. So yeah, this is what bugs me the most. This, and the lack of Kyle Katarn.
Tamás Répási If they bring back Kyle Katarn it will be a complete watered down version of him. The same with Mara Jade. And honestly, thanks to TLJ, I don't think there's space for them in the new Canon.
Alejandro Engdal You probably missed the part where he was talking about the Force itself, then. Far better of an explanation of the Force than what we got in the previous movies.
To be honest, I don't blame the movies for the "The Jedi have to die out" bit, because it's fairly obvious from the prequels (and _especially_ obvious to KotOR fans) that the Jedi are rather flawed. The problem is that TLJ didn't really go into that. If I were writing TLJ, and the executives were _making_ me write that plotline (not that I would do it on my own, _but if I had to),_ I'd have it so that Luke tries to recreate the old Jedi Order, because of course he doesn't know how flawed it was (it's like like Vader ever monologued about how he fell to the dark side...). It then blows up in his face, so he goes to find the original Jedi teachings. He thinks he must have done something wrong, and that studying the original Jedi texts would help him avoid the same texts. As it turns out, he didn't do anything wrong. He did exactly what the old Jedi masters would have done... and it becomes clear to him that the Jedi were flawed and always were, and that he'd spent his life trying to build up something that he thought was perfect but really wasn't. That would make anyone a bit more cynical, I think.
Whoa whoa whoa let's not blame JJ. Blame fucking Rian Johnson I guarantee you if JJ Abrams did The Last Jedi he wouldn't have ruined Luke Skywalker. You got to remember everything written in The Last Jedi was written by Rian Johnson. With no input from anyone else. And hopefully JJ can save the character in Episode IX
THIS is what Mark Hamill should've been given as an actor. THIS is what Luke Skywalker's legacy should've been. Minus the bad parts of the EU. Not this Disney Luke who became a complete failure of a Jedi and a coward who gave up on his family and the galaxy and hid himself on another planet to rot away and die alone.
The problem with the Old Jedi Order is that they are self-righteous and rigid. Even Yoda admitted at the end that the Jedi had grown arrogant. They stopped serving the Force and served a corrupt government. They said that only Sith deal in absolute but the Jedi refuse to see any other way other than their own. Luke was wise enough to see this glaring flaw and created the New Jedi Order with far more flexibility. Luke also had the sense to make the new order independent of the New Republic. Sure they made mistakes but they learned from them and adapted, unlike the Old Jedi Order, who made the same mistake again and again. The New Jedi Order were able to handle one crisis after another with far more efficiency than the Old Jedi Order. This New Jedi Order is exactly what Qui-Gon envisioned.
We like your claim that Luke Skywalker was right to Reform the Jedi. Me and my brother were ashamed of Kathleen Kennedy and Disney having him repeat the Jedi Mistakes. That goes against the development Luke had in the Original Trilogy, where he saw through the Jedi mistakes and chose not to finish what they made him do to kill his father. Killing Vader would have made him what he promised to be, becoming just like his father. Sparing him shows how Luke saw through their mistakes and chose not to continue it, thus symbolizing he becomes a better Jedi.
Even heroes have problems. I did like that theme. However, I think they went to far when they made my favorite character wallow in self-pity and incompetence. And then die before changing.
Something you forgot to mention: When it came to sabers, anything goes. Single, double-bladed, twin, etc. The same went for colors. You could use any color under the sun. Even red.
@@BlackTalonz personally I'm against red lightsabers in the Jedi order because of what they represent, even if it's a natural version, but that's just me.
@@arturv.a.4542 I know I late but there are two versions of thr crystals, because of Disney of course. Disney's Canon says the Sith corrupts thr crystal with thr Dark side of thr Force. And after some refinement, are even stronger than lightsabers that use the real and natural crystals
Both are Star Wars, but it is okay to select favorites and pick out what you want to be true and not true. Star Wars is the most flexible franchise to do that with tbh

My gosh, THIS, THIS could have been Episode 8. Could you imagine? Master Jedi Luke Skywalker with a Temple of Jedi, with these...practices that he had in-place. The New Republic having finally established most of a foothold in the galaxy and then the First Order appeared. What happens after that, I am sure people can make their own stories. Hell, people can make their own stories and it'd be better than that Disney crap.
The only reason it didn't happen was because Kathleen Kennedy knew Luke would overshadow her self insert Mary Sue Rey so she had Disney make an OOC version of Luke to make Rey look better and give a lazy reason for Emo Ren to be evil. The sequel trilogy aren't Star Wars films. They're Kennedy's fantasies about Adam Driver.
Julio Acceus the truce at bakura, and Luke Skywalker and the shadows of mindor are where I started. Bakura starts a few days or weeks after return of the Jedi.
Ironhornet Gahh, that was just a moment of weakness, HATER!!!! A moment that consisted of picking up his lightsaber, leaving the temple, going outside to Ben's hut, opening the door, not waking him and holding his lightsaber out. Clearly, he put no more thought into it than that one moment! Why can't you people just accept this this is NEW, and therefore good, and YOUR Star Wars is over now?!
This is what we should’ve gotten in the force awakens, peace. And start a major conflict about one third into the movie. Not just start the movie with “everything sucks and we’re not gonna tell the audience why”
And absolutely no copy-paste Empire vs. Rebellion. The conflict should be narrowed down to Grand Master Luke's Jedi against dark-side followers trying to restore Vader or something.
This would have been a much better message for kids, and isn't marketing towards kids 95% of what Disney wants with everything they own? The New Jedi order taught that instead of learning by following old rules, teaching methods, and traditions, the young Jedi should make their own experiences, teaching them things like responsibility, compassion, courage, etc on their own, thus giving them more confidence, and honestly more practical knowledge of the force. In my opinion, this is a much better thought process that todays kids could use as influence in the way they think. Instead, they went with "Anyone can be a hero no matter what, and there is no good or evil, just an amorphous mass of beings that don't really matter in life whatsoever." Basically one giant SJW, social engineering, self served advertisement... I was so excited when I heard Disney was making a new trilogy, because I was picturing things like Lukes New Jedi Order (EU, or canon as I like to call it), Thrawn, and other epic, compelling story lines that we see in the books. Instead we got, a flashy recycled SW movie that is tearing down the character/morals of all the original individuals? Wtf Disney...
aricente Well, in my book, diverse isn't just skin deep. The new characters are just bland and boring. I would rather see diversity in the terms of the actual universe they are trying to represent, i.e more Alien races represented, in a galaxy with trillions of inhabitants and thousands of different species, you'd think they'd have at least more races then just humans represented yes? But no, instead, they make an awkward social statement by including diversity by Earth standards, which would be fine if it didn't feel so forced, and if the characters in question actually had depth and feeling to them. Mace Windu is one of my all time favorite Jedi, Leia was a badass, Lando was a damn good character. There is nothing wrong with female or minority (by American standards) actors and roles, but when it's forced in, with little to no thought or background put into the characters it makes it feel forced and done just for the sake of checking off the box.
And I'm not blaming the actors, they can only do so much with the roles they are given. Almost immediately you have a sense of caring for characters like Leia, or Lando, but I, and most others I know, could really care less about Rey, or Finn, or most of the new characters. They just feel like they got shoehorned in...
massaweed420 i dont care about rey but finn was pretty likable in TFA,i think they did him dirty in this movie. Poe is okay, and rey is still really lame. Kylo though, kylo has to be the most interesting character that the star wars movie have pumped out
If Disney had the balls to de-canon-ise the Luke we wanted why can't they have the balls to just split the timeline and made ep7, 8,9 the downfall Timeline and started a new with proper and good directors (the ones that doesn't being controlled by sjw and feminist) the trilogy where Legends Luke become Canon, or as I like to called it The Redemption Timeline
@@bullettime8760 The issue isn't that of an alternate timeline, which is how the fans treat Legends anyway, it is that they like to take from the EU nonstop and act like they invented it, without ever giving proper due. @@saberiandream316 look, i understand your reasoning, but no one can deny the disaster that is the sequel trilogy and if i will have to take a side, i will take bullet's side tbh I mean, if they decided to put everything that lucas made before disney bought the thing in the non cannon zone, why cant they do it with that mess of a trilogy
@@superabdoking5372 First up, they claim it was "always" non-canon (which makes them look worse to just arbitrarily discontinue it despite the opportunities of the new Legends banner), but secondly, how do you BRAND them if they're made non-canon? To the casual customer crowd that is all they care about? The Expanded Universe had Infinities, which was for non-canon material. But that's for nerds and geeks, not the trend-chasers Disney Star Wars taps into. How do you market it to them?
The Star Wars EU made me believe in heroes. The Star Wars "canon" made me believe that failure is a great teacher- more specifically, learning from someone else's scriptwriting failure in creating a consistent story, so that I don't have to make such obvious and moronic mistakes as a writer. Thanks Rian Johnson- you have motivated me to not put out your level of garbage writing in my compositions.
Forget episode nine, I want a spin off of Luke's Jedi Order and how it actually differs from the old Jedi Order in cannon. Would anyone else like to see that movie as well?
They won't do it, but you can read all this in "Legends" continuity books. Can start with "Thrawn Trilogy" by Timothy Zahn (Heir To The Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command). It starts 5 years after films and has Luke thinking of his way as a Jedi among many other things. As spirit of Obi-Wan told Luke in Heir To The Empire, Luke wasn't the last of Old Jedi, he was the first of New Jedi. Later Luke would form this Order you see in the video. I like "Legends", what can I say, way better than new "canon" IMO.
I'd also recommend playing the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games on PC that star Kyle Katarn. Once you get to Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy, you get some experience with what Luke's Jedi Order is like (quite a bit more in the latter game, but the former has some good stuff too, namely undergoing your own Jedi trials under Luke).
7 didn’t taint Star Wars. It was a love letter and a bit of a repeat. 8? 8 killed Luke’s legend and character. Apart of me wants to accept it, but it makes his arc in the original trilogy feel so pointless. He should be a master with an academy. At least a master who tries.
David Jones While 7 didn't taint Star Wars it added little to no new material and was a blatant copy of ANH. I know ppl said this back when hating prequels was the norm but the prequels didn't shit on all that was accomplished in the OT in fact they showed us what was lost.
Joe Alexander in TFA it was built that Luke was in seclusion to learn and not just to die, he was preparing to come back, and his academy was destroyed by kylo and the dark side, not his incompetence, 8 retcons all this
Grand Master Luke sounds like that cool dad that would let all your friends come over and play video games all night and just chill without even bothering you 😂.
At least Luke from episode 8 is more human than Luke from legend's. Because Luke from episode 8 lost almost everything but saved everyone in the end like the true hero.
vernus red it doesn’t make him anymore human as if he was the same from the sequels with slight differences do to age. Becoming cynical and mean just to save everyone isn’t making a more human character.
I wish this or something similar was how the New Jedi Order had panned out in Canon. I guess there's a chance it still will with Rey at it's head but it would have been nice to see Luke as it's leader.
Jake Burlow Maybe Disney will start putting Lootboxes in Star Wars novels and comics to give you the chance to change stupid characters and plots. But I don't hold much hope.
King Edward "Longshanks" I, Hammer of the Scots, Lord of Wales and King of England the jedi didn't always kid nap kids more like manipulate there parents into thinking that they are better off with them
Well, the old jedi didn't usually kidnap kids either, rather they persuaded their parents that their kid was better off with the jedi. In extreme cases they used the force to persuade, but that wasn't usually necessary. Jedi were very prestigious to most people, so they often decided to give their child willingly.

Heck, even Mark Hamill was enraged in his interviews.
They made Luke a more realistic, relatable character as he was in the original trilogy. Meanwhile, most of the Legends stuff after the Thrawn Trilogy made him into a flawless Force god...
Yeah this would have been a much better ending

Luke pretty much humanized the Jedi order
@Shayan That doesn't mean the jedi can't 'Act' like normal people
Pretty much I think his father would’ve been proud.
Exactly, he’s going to make mistakes but was willing to improve upon them that’s what I like about his EU version.
@Bingo the dark side is a bitch.
Luke understood that love, creativity, individuality, duty, and serving a greater purpose were not mutually exclusive, understanding how embracing love and an appreciation of the people and oneself as a person could make a Jedi that much more dedicated and committed to the cause of protecting the peace than just doing it out blind obedience.
nicely said.
Exactly if they haven't had been like that anakin wouldn't have turned evil.

The new canon hasn’t been build up over decades like the old one so comparing the two is very unfair.

Cos the same guy who refused to attack his father would just randomly decide to chop his nephew in half in the middle of the night right? Hell no!
It's not random, it's a moment of weakness. Because everyone can fall to the dark, even for a second. And fear it's the worst enemy of a jedi
It's very contradicting to Luke's character
well the point of the scene was that even luke skywalker can fall for a moment. all the trilogy is about how the force is a thing aside from jedi and siths and that there can be a world without both of them
Yeah but it seemed like crap to me at least.
It really is different from the portrayed version from the movie version.

Definitely. If you want to learn more about it, you should check out the Jedi Academy game. I think it's still on sale on Steam and GOG.

Luke’s logic is “Be open with your emotions, feel love, get married and the dark side can be used safety.”
Luke believed that everyone was capable of falling to the dark side. But everyone was capable of returning to the light.

Mark Hamill called Disney Luke "Jake Skywalker". He tried to warn us how bad they fucked him up.
So, a character that is actually consistent with his arc throughout the original trilogy and not a copy pasted version of old man Logan?

I haven’t heard of him in years, can someone give a summary of what happened to him?
You are Right
Tamás Répási If they bring back Kyle Katarn it will be a complete watered down version of him. The same with Mara Jade.
And honestly, thanks to TLJ, I don't think there's space for them in the new Canon.
There's not. It's a complete new direction with uninteresting characters.
Luke was just absolutely brilliant. JJ destroyed this great Jedi
Why tf would they make Luke lose all hope after Kylo. It makes no sense, Luke was strong with the force
Antonio Aguirre Disney's "canon" will never be canon.
Antonio Aguirre Definitely. Gave it the benefit of the doubt after episode 7, but Star Wars is now ruined.
Rian
Whoa whoa whoa let's not blame JJ. Blame fucking Rian Johnson I guarantee you if JJ Abrams did The Last Jedi he wouldn't have ruined Luke Skywalker. You got to remember everything written in The Last Jedi was written by Rian Johnson. With no input from anyone else. And hopefully JJ can save the character in Episode IX
THIS is what Mark Hamill should've been given as an actor. THIS is what Luke Skywalker's legacy should've been. Minus the bad parts of the EU.
God damn, you made me shed a tear when you mentioned Qui- Gon.
Fuck it, i am going to start reading Legends, starting now.
Indeed, this is a great interpretation
We like your claim that Luke Skywalker was right to Reform the Jedi. Me and my brother were ashamed of Kathleen Kennedy and Disney having him repeat the Jedi Mistakes. That goes against the development Luke had in the Original Trilogy, where he saw through the Jedi mistakes and chose not to finish what they made him do to kill his father. Killing Vader would have made him what he promised to be, becoming just like his father. Sparing him shows how Luke saw through their mistakes and chose not to continue it, thus symbolizing he becomes a better Jedi.
Now THIS is Luke Skywalker.

"Sjw"? I can't defend force awakens but episode 8 wasn't sjw. Or is having diverse characters automatically sjw and bad?
Kylo Ren but rose and finns problem isn't their race or acting ability. Its not an sjw problem, its a script writing problem.
aricente Well, in my book, diverse isn't just skin deep.

I think we should have dual timelines like star trek has
I could see this as maybe a dlc for jedi fallen order

The director should be ashamed but disney gets the blame for approving his shit. Ya let's forget what happen in 7 and pretend that didn't happen.
