Luke in the EU was regarded as the same, all be it leading the Jedi order being the galaxies protector. I’m not sure how you think this is lesser than Jake Skywalker who drinks titty milk, leaves everyone he loves for dead, gets beaten by a 19 year old girl, then dies because he’s tired. Make no mistake , i cannot stand the absolute shit Disney has done to Star Wars , but they did honor said creator with 4 BILLION dollars , he was already impossibly rich so i have little sympathy for Mr Lucas and his viewpoints , he should not have sold out to the devil that is Disney.
M J I’ll give Lucas some credit, he cut a better deal for himself and the franchise then they likely would’ve gotten. They would’ve been scooped up either way, whether it was five years ago or last year when Disney bought Fox, aka the people who did own Lucasfilm and bankrolled all his stuff before. And from that we’ve gotten Mando and Rogue One, which are welcome additions to Star Wars imo. One area where I won’t give him credit is who he let run the franchise after he sold it.
@@robacdc1977 Lucas has always owned Lucasfilm. It was his studio. He also owned the Star Wars films, ILM, Skywalker Sound, LucasArts, Lucasfilm Animation, Lucasfilm Animation Singapore, and other companies. He still owns Skywalker ranch. Fox distributed the OT & Prequels, but only owned A New Hope.
@@robacdc1977 Well, he sold it all to Disney. They now pay him rent to continue using the facilities at Skywalker Ranch. I'm saying that all movies after A New Hope(ESB, RotJ, the three Prequels, etc) were bankrolled by Lucas, and produced through his own studio. If Lucas didn't sell to Disney, Disney wouldn't have acquired it(unless they were strongarming him into it or something).
My favorite part of Legends Luke isn't just his skill with a lightsaber or strength in the Force, but his compassion and hope. No one was beyond redemption in Luke's eyes. Always willing to give someone another chance, always confident that there was light in someone, and not accepting that they couldn't be redeemed.
To be honest that was perhaps the most greatest part of his character, hell, he even tried to do so with Palpatine in the Dark Empire at first after defeating him, he always looked at the killing option as last resort, in fact there were multiple situations in EU where Luke redeemed multiple of potentially irredeemable people simply because he believed that there was a chance to do so and took it.
Yes. He is greater than any Jedi. Or Sith. He became the Light Side of the Force. It's what he represents that is so important. His most powerful power was his humanity. Disney missed this. It's who he becomes. Who we can all become. He is an icon of goodness. He is a symbol. And can never truly die.
EU luke is the luke that makes sence. son of the highest midichlorian counted being in the galaxy. most force potential. he should of been a GOD. not some old hermit that dies from being tired.
Luke was still human in the EU and he made it clear if anyone worked as hard as him and some more they could all reach his level and that says something
@@ATalesTruth- I actually think it was more of a moral booster for his students in reality only force users who could reach Luke's Level are those within the Skywalker Bloodline
@@alexmason2659 well yes and no, luke is right if someone did try to push themselves to their absolute limit they could reach his level, but the skywalkers would learn faster To put it simply the skywalkers have the highest aptitude in the force so if anyone is going to learn faster it be luke given he has the aptitude of the chosen one, by comparison anakin never worked for his power compared to luke thus never could reach the level luke is at but if he did then he rival luke, As for a normal force user it’s simple they may reach a 40 year old Luke’s power when they are 60 for comparison, to put it simply experience would outrank everything, for instance yoda if he was raised and trained by luke from brith he might have even more powerful given yoda was just a pure lightside user but didn’t use all aspects of the force like luke, because it’s said if yoda even tried to use even the darkside he could have moped the floor with sidious for example, same can be said if sidious used the lightside as well, luke understands the force is both sides and like kyle Vader and the emperor taugh him the abilities aren’t evil only how you use them To which is the main reason force users aren’t as powerful as they could be they don’t use the force to its fullest like luke which is why his new Jedi order is considered more power then the old despite them being only hundreds in number luke realized will of the force is both the light and dark using them both isn’t bad, and you can serve the will do the force as even a darkside user, case in point anakin and revan To which the main reason people foolishly synomises the darkside as evil is because only the sith use the darkside but that is every black and white, the sith only use the dark because they don’t see how the light can help them and some sith use the light side only so it’s not so much Whcih side of the force makes you good or evil only what you do as explained here, as you can use both, it’s only if you defy the will of the force does that make you evil th-cam.com/video/l_xhFS5kjXw/w-d-xo.html The only other Jedi in legends to have this mindset is revan and he is always considered top 10 as the most power force users, it could be argued he could be stronger then sidous by some people but that’s all dependent th-cam.com/users/clipUgkx-EyIJYe7qys3nKdwi1w3LzYMfvp3BFkF

Well that of course, how could he say otherwise. After all, after reading all these comments we can easilly see who's paying the bills in Skywalker Ranch, newsflash, Luke Skywalker ... Jedi Master (metaphor for 70-80's upper-middle class young males' action hero).
Sith Lord Exar Kun I can disagree StarKiller is one of the strongest force users and there is a lot of Sith and old republic people But he is very powerful I’m guessing George is fan girling lol
So true. Reminds me of that part in fate of the Jedi series where Luke’s force presence can be felt across the galaxy. He is so powerful this force imbued object amplifies it to that extent.
I agree, im one of those fans that hates the new canon of fucking Disney. Like fuck them. Like thats great making new characters like rey, ben solo, finn but completely changing it and not having any character development to rey or snoke who was suppose to be the big bad villain sith lord. Making rey strong with no jedi training at all and making luke reys bitch and being stronger than him. Luke wanting to die alone not wanting to do anything with the jedi because he saw a glimpse of what could happen, changing his character abandoning his friends when they were in need of his help. Like luke went out of his way of his training with yoda to save his friends, it didnt care about the training in the moment, he sensed that his friends could die, he wasnt gonma let them die. I just love that he fails and but he still comes back up for more, the story is amazing and emotional for me.
Also after serious set backs. Hoth, Bespin, falling to the dark side, comatose on Yavin due to Sith Ghost attack, major injuries due to X-wing crash, banished from his own order, losing Calista then marrying Mara Jade and eventually losing her, the Vong war, Lumia, Caedus. This Luke lead a full life through adversity and became a beacon of hope. Disney Episode 8 was the mouse show of gratitude.
Seriously. Mastering every other discipline of the Force, having countless brushes with the dark side, and learning just as much from his various students as they did from him.
Expanded Universe Luke: A leader, had a hand in the creation Of the New Republic And the New Jedi Order, Quite literal Army beater, Evolved the Definition Of a Jedi Master With his ideas and Abilities. Canon Luke: *drinks Alien Milk*
Luke: I can stop black holes, defeated one of the most powerful beings in the galaxy, defeated the emperor, and mastered forms of lightsaber combat with little training and became one with the force.
Luke became what his father was to be. Restored the order as New Jedi Order. Had decades of training, defeats, success and failures. Eu Luke haters say he was to perfect and OP. I beg to differ.
Enigma6344 he had went through years of training with growth which also had failures. So I’d say, since he’s the son of the chosen one...he progresses as he should with training.
I’m just waiting for Disney to come out with another Trilogy or Project showing that the Last Jedi Luke was a front. That he had a whole story. Luke was off with Ahsoka, Ezra, Grogu, Sabine, Rex and Thrawn against the Grysk, and later the Vong. I can only assume my hero had everyone in his mind as he faced off against a bigger threat.
Luke Skywalker in Legends is the true canon to me. He take years of training hard and meditation (and we see in the books and comics his progression)...he become what his Father could but never become. He dont lost his hope when his wife and his nephew die. A Jedi never give up, he trust in the Force and dont try to kill his nephew while he is sleeping.
luke was not OP he simply studyed his ass off and learned everything he was able to do through years of study not like. Rey who just was able to use this ability
Yeah Rey is an incredibly terrible character and a Mary Sue, but Luke was definitely OP. He had the same potential as Anakin and had more raw force power than anyone. He studied his ass off but his raw force power is much higher than anyone ever aside from The Whills and Abeloth. Calling him anything less than OP is ridiculous. This is what Luke should’ve been in the sequels a wise, hopeful, and powerful Jedi.
@@donovanpitts6907 same with Leia; she has the SAME raw force power as Luke, and yet is basically fucking useless in the new trilogy. Pulls herself back to a blown up bridge, and says "ben"....
William Parcell what if I told you that in the fanfiction in that I'm rewriting he was tired so much was put on his shoulders that he ran away cuz he lost his wife his nephew turn to the dark side a lot of things were beginning to fall apart like that time in his life has come where things just simply are bad for him and Ben solo or as I'm going to call him ithan solo was the breaking point being the Big Hearted man Luke is he tries to bring him back stopping but he is constantly failing at it to the point where he just sadly quits
Legends Luke: gains every power by reading/seeing/ hearing about it all of once then instantly being a master of it (which the video straight up lied about), sat on his bum doing nothing while sending Kyle Gary Stu Katarn to deal with Inquisitor Jarek, let far more of his and the rebels' work be undone than TLJ Luke ever did (from the sith coming back to the emporer being immortal and needing Leia and Anakin Solo to finish him off meaning everything he and the rebels ever did was completely all for naught), breaks nearly every single rule of being a Jedi (forming attachments, acting on emotions, seeking adventure and excitement (two things Yoda explicitly said were things Jedi DON'T seek), I could go on). TLJ Luke: follows the Jedi Rulebook to a T (including the long established tradition that whenever the Jedi Order take a particularly massive hit all living Jedi MUST go into exile no matter how powerful they are, see Yoda (who probably advised him on doing so), Satele Shan (who could block lightsabers with her bare hands), the entire Jedi Council from KOTOR (who all had the Sever Force ability) right before the events of KOTOR 2...), ACTUALLY trains and studies for two particular powers, one of which is previously established as possibly taking decades to fully learn (that being Force Ghost) meaning he was actually doing something productive during his exile, does the very thing he mocked (specifically the "facing the entire first order with nothing but a laser sword" line that everyone cites as "evidence" of his "cowardice" and actually disproving it in doing so), chugs disgusting looking green stuff that makes the water from Discworld's River Ankh look tasty (and you can't so much jump into the River Ankh so much as onto it, and you'd bounce if you did so it's that filthy) and you'd HAVE to be pretty brave to do that, makes a fool out of the entire First Order, has powers that Legends Luke could only dream of (the other ability he spent all that time mastering), specifically doesn't use all those OP abilities because THAT'S NOT WHAT JEDI DO. Who's the real coward here? Certainly not TLJ Luke, if anything he's the closest thing to an actual Jedi that Luke has ever been. In ANY continuity.

Luke build himself up from the ground EU books give us idea about that. Mary Sue just exist as OP entity by the power of raw PC bullshit. Mara Jade is true embodiment of strong women.
Not even George Lucas considered the EU canon. As I recall, before the Disney sale, the only things that were "G-Canon" were the movies, The Clone Wars, and The Force Unleashed.
George Lucas say luke is the most powerful jedi ever so he should be OP blame Disney writers for not being talented enough to do the character justice everybody is nerfed and watered down in Disney canon
Luke in canon: Lonely drinking green milk “grand master” Power: Disappearing Luke in Legends: married and has kids. Power: HAS THE POWER TO PULL DOWN THE DEATH STAR, DESTROY A ENTIRE FLEET WITH A LIGHT SABER
Luke in canon: "wut ur gunna take on the entire First Order with a laser sword?" Luke in EU: *takes on the entire Yuuzhan Vong with a goddamn laser sword*
Legends Luke is definitely my Luke. The Last Jedi was the last straw for me with the sequel movies. After I saw it, I thought, "That's it. I'm done." I've always considered the EU to be the true canon. Imagine what the Legends characters would think of the sequel ones. 😂
Fate of the jedi wasnt perfect but it did help remind you how powerful Luke was in the very first book. He takes out tons of full fledged sith with ease until their leader and her apprentice both fight Luke while Ben gets the ship ready to leave. After already killing about 18 sith, the sith lord (female) looks up at the ship for a split second and is chopped to bits by Luke instantly. Then he spares the apprentice so he can follow her with a blood trail. He was not only powerful but outsmarted sith who suprised him. It was brilliant
Yep. Writers should find ways to create legitimate threats to Luke, not underpower him. Lucas himself called Luke the most powerful force user he ever envisioned in his universe. Ever. Luke must be op. He must be the most overpowered character in all of fiction.
Expanded Universe Luke, bar none, is the best Luke. Even if Luke is somehow brought back for Episode IX, the damage is done. Jake Skywalker will NEVER compare to Luke Skywalker. Period.
CO-SIGN,No explanation or attempt to display True Luck would be 1000× stupider then ray in FA after TLJ KILLED his homie HAN down since tatione, shaolin jedi samurai seclusion
Extendend universe starwars is better than cannon starwars (old movies included). I am by no means a big starwars fan but i fucking love everything related to EU sith order and most things that happened during the clone wars becuase they made it so much better. i couldn t physically watch the old trilogies and the prequals were decent at best. the comics the games and the animated series is what i find awesome in starwars.
Filoni has never wanted to adhere to the EU, but just take lore and strip it down to suit his own selfish vision of the IP which does not fit into either the films or EU.
Luke in the EU started to realise how powerful he was and made the decision to step back and let his students have their chance at being great Jedi also. He decided it wasn't his place to solve all the bad things, but to lead by example, train others and offer advice. Saying that when things really got bad he stepped up and openned the biggest can of Jedi Whoopass.
We need a Clone wars like Tv series for time between Episode 6 and 7, deeply exploring all Original characters, and more focused on the Jedi/sith and the force. Now that the movies have ruined it.
It’s a shame to see what’s happening to star wars. People LIVE for this stuff. If they went the right direction in my opinion they’d start a new trilogy about the old republic and darth revan. That’s a story for the ages
I personally think this is the Luke we should have gotten, but a slightly underpowered version of all characters (warping through space time, creating blackholes)
I like this version of Luke more, not because he is more powerful than his counterpart of Disney but because he character was much better When I read his lines I felt that I was really reading the Luke Skywalker of the original trilogy movies. We saw him grow from an inexperienced Jedi to become one of the best Jedi masters in history being as wise as Yoda Qui Gon or Obi Wan. It's a shame what they did to their character in The Last Jedi, i hate that Luke very much To all the people who do not like the character of Luke from The Last Jedi I recommend tha read Luke's stories in the EU

He's definitely better than "Canon" Luke. He hit one bump in the road trying to revive the Jedi and gave up. EU Luke hit many obstacles and just grew stronger. Screw you Disney
Great Video you covered many good feats by Luke. The EU will always be gold especially compared to Disney’s sequel garbage. Although I hate the Last Jedi, I didn’t perceive Jake as “weak” he seemed like he could do a lot just was written horribly to be nihilistic and boring.
It pains me that TLJ gave us Jake Crywalker. Theres no reason why we couldn't have gotten 1 scene where he shows off his immense power. Legends is where its at if you want content with effort put in it. Great video as always, I love your headcanon which combines every great about Legends and Canon. Keep it up.
For me, the EU is canon. What Darth Mickey has wrought is nothing more than a cash grab. I spent years and many dollars keeping up with Luke's story. I will not be doing that again. But that's just me.
Got into a debate with my friend about who is more powerful: expanded universe Luke or Master Chief from Halo... I think it’s safe to say that Luke would annihilate him
In my opinion, Luke was set up by George Lucas to be the most powerful Jedi ever. That is why I like the books so much, you really see Luke's power. I like that during the Abeloth episode, he mentions the meeting with Father, Daughter, and Son that ObiWan and Anakin had. I don't really honour Episodes 7 and 8, in fact I have never seen them, as canon, following instead the Legends canon.
Luke is ultimately the most limited and powerful Being. Limited in the sense that he can never use the darkside (which is unlimited power, just not sustainable and leaves horrendous affects on your body) But he owns all the light side power. He can harness all the power of good and light which is enough to defeat Everyone and everything( no matter how powerful) that is against him.
In his own words, George Lucas said that, “Luke was the MOST POWERFUL Force User of all time, with NO UPPER LIMIT.” A The pre-Kathleen Kennedy Luca’s Film, pre-Rian Johnson’s stated glee at Star Wars Fans hating “The Last Jedi” as he made the movie, “for myself, not Star Wars fans”. @Exar kun Castillo remember there are different of writers writing at different times for Star Wars I was being Broad I agree it just depends on the writer
"What, I'm gonna walk out with a laser sword and face down the whole First Order?" Why, yes. You will. The only question is, will it be awesome and terrifying or boring and anticlimactic?
At some point people will realise that Luke’s plan in ROTJ was an intricate plan that offered Jabba numerous opportunities that would not result in his destruction. Luke even says “this is your last chance, free us or die” People don’t understand how Luke’s plan never involved killing anyone (and taking the guards gun was to hold Jabba at gunpoint and negotiate)
Funny thing is, as powerful as Luke was in the Expanded Universe, there's still many times where he's coke close to death. Reading the Legacy of the Force now, it's great seeing how powerful Luke is. So much in fact that he literally walked into his nephew's meditation chamber and pinned him down with the Force, his nephew who is now a fully realized Sith Lord.

Christus Regnet He might own part of the name now but it’s not run by him anymore.
He decapitated Darth Lumia lol
Except Palpatine, I'm pretty sure Luke would kill hom again

EU luke is the luke that makes sence. son of the highest midichlorian counted being in the galaxy. most force potential. he should of been a GOD. not some old hermit that dies from being tired.
Luke was still human in the EU and he made it clear if anyone worked as hard as him and some more they could all reach his level and that says something
@@ATalesTruth- I actually think it was more of a moral booster for his students in reality only force users who could reach Luke's Level are those within the Skywalker Bloodline
@@alexmason2659 well yes and no, luke is right if someone did try to push themselves to their absolute limit they could reach his level, but the skywalkers would learn faster
To put it simply the skywalkers have the highest aptitude in the force so if anyone is going to learn faster it be luke given he has the aptitude of the chosen one, by comparison anakin never worked for his power compared to luke thus never could reach the level luke is at but if he did then he rival luke,
As for a normal force user it’s simple they may reach a 40 year old Luke’s power when they are 60 for comparison, to put it simply experience would outrank everything, for instance yoda if he was raised and trained by luke from brith he might have even more powerful given yoda was just a pure lightside user but didn’t use all aspects of the force like luke, because it’s said if yoda even tried to use even the darkside he could have moped the floor with sidious for example, same can be said if sidious used the lightside as well, luke understands the force is both sides and like kyle Vader and the emperor taugh him the abilities aren’t evil only how you use them
To which is the main reason force users aren’t as powerful as they could be they don’t use the force to its fullest like luke which is why his new Jedi order is considered more power then the old despite them being only hundreds in number
luke realized will of the force is both the light and dark using them both isn’t bad, and you can serve the will do the force as even a darkside user, case in point anakin and revan
To which the main reason people foolishly synomises the darkside as evil is because only the sith use the darkside but that is every black and white, the sith only use the dark because they don’t see how the light can help them and some sith use the light side only so it’s not so much Whcih side of the force makes you good or evil only what you do as explained here, as you can use both, it’s only if you defy the will of the force does that make you evil
th-cam.com/video/l_xhFS5kjXw/w-d-xo.html
The only other Jedi in legends to have this mindset is revan and he is always considered top 10 as the most power force users, it could be argued he could be stronger then sidous by some people but that’s all dependent

I’m just waiting for Disney to come out with another Trilogy or Project showing that the Last Jedi Luke was a front. That he had a whole story. Luke Skywalker in Legends is the true canon to me. The best Luke. Much better than TLJ Luke who was reduced to a coward who went into hiding and let all the work he and rebels did get undone.

Limited in the sense that he can never use the darkside (which is unlimited power, just not sustainable and leaves horrendous affects on your body)
But he owns all the light side power.
May God have Mercy on their Souls, and soon.... God is Good, ALL the Time, and ALL the Time God is Good‼️💓💓💓🛐🛐🛐🙆🏻♂️🙆🏻♂️🙆🏻♂️🥃🥃🥃
Bruno Martinez he also said that Luke was never the chosen one!
@Gabriel Gouvêa A strawman, nice
The only thing more powerful than *EU Luke* is *Mary Sue Rey/Disney Feminist Agenda.*
To be fair Luke was kind of a gary stew
Depending on the writer
@@anarchomando7707 "years if training"
@Exar kun Castillo I know but still depending on the writer it could sound like they're pulling it out of their ass
I'm not saying he didn't earn the right to be badass but if it's not explained well therefore it's worsens the actual effect
@Exar kun Castillo remember there are different of writers writing at different times for Star Wars I was being Broad
I agree it just depends on the writer
YES!!! We expected him to face down the First Order with a laser sword!
It's exactly what EU Luke would have done. By that age, he'd defeated worse. Hell he defeated worse before his morning shit and shave.
This brings back so many memories from reading these books
"What, I'm gonna walk out with a laser sword and face down the whole First Order?"
Why, yes. You will. The only question is, will it be awesome and terrifying or boring and anticlimactic?
Jake Skywalker... Nice touch 😂😂😂
At some point people will realise that Luke’s plan in ROTJ was an intricate plan that offered Jabba numerous opportunities that would not result in his destruction.
Luke even says “this is your last chance, free us or die”
People don’t understand how Luke’s plan never involved killing anyone (and taking the guards gun was to hold Jabba at gunpoint and negotiate)
Best luke ever
Funny thing is, as powerful as Luke was in the Expanded Universe, there's still many times where he's coke close to death. Reading the Legacy of the Force now, it's great seeing how powerful Luke is. So much in fact that he literally walked into his nephew's meditation chamber and pinned him down with the Force, his nephew who is now a fully realized Sith Lord.
The real Chosen One. I wish we could watch this godlike version of him on screen.
