You need to subtract the cost of electricity for the same distance in order to have the proper comparison. Home charging is around $2.00 for 100 km. I think you still come out ahead using your example.

None of the Tesla drivers complaining about replacing the battery on TH-cam have driven it for anywhere near 25 years

And how much for the cost of electricity .?and what about when the battery decides to send flames up your .i have seen where people barely got out .not to mention your kids out .too scary for me.

My previous phone burst into flames while it was charging. Fortunately I was sitting right next to it at the time and had a fire extinguisher handy.
Since then I won't charge anything unless it's in sight of me. If I need to do something like take a shower then everything with a battery gets unplugged.

      Yea? Are you that worried?

  • @frankfrati4
    @frankfrati4 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

I wasn't worried until last month when it went bad. My model 3 performance is currently in the shop getting a replacement after 63,000 miles.

What year is your Tesla Model 3? Are you still under warranty?

@@Tesla11ven 2021 and yes still under warranty. I put a lot of miles on driving to and from work. Plus a couple trips here and there. Just decided to go out out of the blue last month.

@@Tesla11ven with my ice cars something would always happen as soon as I filled the tank. With the Tesla as soon as I put new tires on it something happened. LOL

lol. At least you can now laugh about it, and thankfully it's under warranty. Every time I wash my car it rains, same concept, much less stress compared to your issue.

This is propaganda math. First, if a battery is expected to last 25 years, why then doesn't manufacturer warranty it that long? Because it won't last that long. Then there's the assumption its the original owner who saw all the electric v. gas savings. What about the guy who scraped up enough to own a tesla on the tertiary market, then within a short time finds out they need to shell out another $10k+ just to make car operational. And it's not like you can shop service around or even do it yourself. Teslas are built for the people with disposable income who can replace on an ongoing basis prior to warranty expiration.

"Should last 300k km" doesn't mean... it will last...
If they give warranty for 300k km... i can buy it

Gas powered cars only have around 100,000 km engine warranty, so I don’t know why you want 300,000 km warranty for the battery

I'm assuming because they are confident in their product

Cool but you forgot, how much does it cost to charge a battery? What is the life of a battery? What is the maintenance required for this vehicle? Where can one go to look up the specks on electric vehicles? Think this is a fascinating subject!

I have a few videos that discuss charging costs, here is one after 6 Months: th-cam.com/video/LNFpT1-dLXw/w-d-xo.html

Very good point I never thought about it that way. And even if the battery only lasted half it's supposed lifespan, it's still cheaper.

On my second replacement in 100,000 miles. Officially out of warranty after this and terrified. I am being told by everyone it’s just bad luck but I think it’s wild both replacements happened out of nowhere just stopped charging. 2021 m3 I can say that at this rate you are NOT saving money 🤣

CLICKBAIT! So since you didn’t answer the question on replacement costs…….the battery replacement costs is about 1/3 the purchase price of the Tesla.

Great video but Tesla batteries are made to last between 300 to 500 thousand miles or 482 to 804 thousand km....that makes your point even stronger....
