LOL! Ooooo the pain of home remodel sometimes. At least it can provide some entertainment value now haha! Thanks for watching buddy and keep up the great work on your channel.
Finally, a contractor who installs the wall cabinets first. I do remove the doors first, though. I found it makes installing the molding easier. Additionally , I don't risk banging the doors up when they swing open accidentally.
Wow! Amazing! You make it look so easy! Can you make a video where to start when remodeling a kitchen. How to choose the best materials to the best contractor?
One thing I would advise is try to remove some of the tiles cleanly and save them for future possible damages to tiles in bathroom. You won't be able to match those lots or even find that tile
I use a roofing shingle remover to pry up cement board. It has notches on the blade that will let you get under screws or nails and allows you to pry them up with out removing first.. You’re welcome.
Me and my friend did a tile job with removal like that. It was 600sqft of it. We used a shingle remover shovel for the cement board on the floor. They had nails every 3” on every sheet instead of screws. Demo took two days between the two of us.
The devil is in the details and you knocked it out of the park.. I was blown away at how much pride you take in your work and charge reasonable prices . I'm someone who works hard but does not make much money. I always felt like I could never have my dream kitchen but to see that there is good people out there like you that can make that dream come true made my day. Wishing you all the best....
@Letsgo-ch8yryeah and I’m sure the work is in the details. You get what you pay for. I’d rather pay someone more money and get a better result. $6,000k that just screams quick flip. lol
Are we allowed to offer feedback to this beautiful build? Pot faucet on range backsplash, center all backsplash outlets, combo box light switch and outlet left of range, add electrical outlet to island on each end. My takeaway from kitchen remodels. Again, excellent work and explanation video!!!
Always appreciate constructive feedback. Thanks so much for the input and I'll have to keep that in mind for the future. Greatly appreciate the support.
Amazing video as always !! I appreciate the hard work and detailed videos you provide. I would say be mindful of the heat from the gas stove and the microwave I removed mine because it was too much heat and made me nervous.
Amazing work and video production. The weird cut outs with the backsplash feels like a travesty though. Kinda defeats the purpose of the stone backsplash if you aren't going to take it all the way up. I'm guessing this was to avoid dealing with the wall outlets.
Boy oh boy, what a nice job, you are craftsman. I like, I wish you were in our area. The quality of your work was done well. We have found around here the quality of work done, is a shame. We are doing a new countertop in our kitchen and not replacing cabinet. The old countertop are not level I and pray the installers of the new countertop will see those unleveled areas and if that can be rectified correctly before new counter top. Any suggestion for us :). I like what you did on this video. Oh just suggestion, removal of old tile what about using an ice scraper.
Awesome transfomation! Thanks for showing all that went into it. Question: how is the countertop butting up and flush with your window working out for you? I am considering a very similar detail on my kitchen remodel and am wondering (maybe worrying) if with constant splashes and whipe-downs the window will take harm over time?
Always fun and informative to watch your videos! This is exactly what I need done to my kitchen, unfortunately down here in Portland so can’t get your help with it. Any recommendations on finding a reliable contractor?
Thanks so much for watching and the continued support. My in laws are down in Portland and they did a kitchen remodel somewhat recently. I'll ask who they used.
Except for the pronunciation of height (I kept hearing "heighth"), this was a very detailed and very satisfying video. I appreciate the detail from start to finish, and I learned what I'm willing to do myself vs a professional. Probably the first video that I watched fully.
Beautiful! Can you tell me what kitchen design program you used? I’m trying to find a good one but every program requires that you buy it bf knowing if it is right for you. The free versions are useless.
Bro you took the job for 25,000.00, you paid 10,000.00 for the cabinets there’s counter tops, flooring ,labor just a couple of big ticket items, did you make any profit or was this for a friend or family member?
Another great video. How do you choose your projects? I’m in Seattle and have a front yard project, similar to some of your other videos, that I’m looking for help with.
I saw a video somewhere about needing fancy outlets inside cabinets with switches that only supply power when the door is open because normal outlets inside cabinets is against code. Is that something you've heard before or was that other guy just a shill for Big Receptacle? I know nothing about any of this, I just like watching lol, thanks for sharing your work!
Do you guys have any changes coming in regarding engineered stone like this? In Australia, it looks like these products will be banned, as too many cases of silicosis, and workers/employers not taking all the right precautions.
Not that I know of but yes you definitely need to always wear a proper mask/respirator when working with these types of countertops and cutting them/grinding. So are all quartz countertops being band in Australia?
Nothing against the excellent work here, but when I compare before vs after (0:14 and 44:42), it looks basically like the same kitchen updated with better lighting (the before image is yellowed for some reason), cabinet hardware, quartz countertops, new microwave, and flooring. The labor cost would be huge with all the work described. Does a 2cm thick stone backsplash improve the look when a porcelain large format tile would look just as good? Maybe a new Ikea pantry to the left of the fridge would be nice, but this kitchen has a lot of cabinets. Hats off to the skilled professionals who do this, but I wonder why so many owners feel the need to gut everything.
Looks great - however NEC requires an electrical outlet on all kitchen islands, so this is not to code. It's a bugbear for me because my place doesn't have one.. haha
@@BYOTools the cabinets are made by Base Wood Metro Factory International located in Binan Laguna Philippines. The plywood has a substantial amount of formaldehyde in it and the cheap finish won't hold up for very long. It is a "you get what you pay for" product.

Do the countertop shop also do the installation, or you do it yourself? How much is the installation? Why can't they drill the faucet holes in the shop? How long did it take for the whole thing?
Nice build and video. Caeserstone is banned here in Australia as of 1st of July though due to serious health concerns for workers. I was loving all the water fed machines but the video still ended with some dude hand abrading/polishing with no face mask. That said, I believe the dust getting through PPE is part of the reason for the ban.
I think they said they bought the “new” cabinet at a discount store, but they are NOT the same as the custom cabinets that the client originally wanted bc budget.
All high end kitchens use wood. Engineered wood can even be put in a bathroom. It's incredibly resilient to water. I prefer tile myself, but wood is the go to for a luxury kitchen.
What does heighth mean? Heighth is a misspelling of height. It might exist because of a perceived similarity to other words that end in -ghth, like eighth. Other measurements, like depth and breadth, also end in -th, so some writers might overgeneralize this ending to heighth, as well. It could also stem from a mispronunciation of the word by some speakers. HEIGHTH ISN'T A WORD.
I can't see what was wrong with the original kitchen, sorry, it had nice Shaker cabinets, SS appliances, etc. Maybe the grout was dirty on the tile floor? But it was a decent kitchen.
Good questions Jonathan and luckily for me I consider myself more of a content creator than a contractor these days. I get paid multiple different ways so I'm not worried about making a ton on the project itself. I just give the client my hourly rate and as long as they agree to that I'm happy to save the client money in the end.
Way to save the client so much money. How much do you think the average homeowner could save? I have a video where I share how much to budget for a kitchen remodel: th-cam.com/video/YBdD7aAdI4o/w-d-xo.html and I encourage homeowners to consider removing anything they can do on their own in order to save. But, hiring contractors certainly jumps the labor portion of the costs significantly.
Great video! I'd love to see how Trex decking or other composite decking boards are made. Thank you.
Amazing idea! And I have connections in that industry :) Thanks for watching till the end Shaun.
That backer board removal looked brutal 😅. Nice work as always 🙌

Doesn’t the pot filler get greasy ? Also yet another water line to potentially fail later down the road. That’s the only reason I haven’t added one
Pot fillers are expensive and pointless, and against code in a lot of places

And destroying that tile! Are you kidding! He was just doing what the customer wanted… but that was just big time waste! Imho

I don't get that either. Until now, I have understood that many kinds of flooring including manufactured wood can just be laid on top.
