@@WhatTheFlipShowYeah, you only went over budget because of the appliances. The environmental MOVE on the APPLIANCES was AWESOME. Someone got the old appliances an u all got small damaged appliances. TWOFORS.
Exactly and on top of that, even if they did go over the budget, the 1700 alone for all the appliances is usually the cost to buy just one anyways! So they nailed it. Great job!!
I was amazed by the transformation! The before-and-after shots were incredible, and it was impressive to see what they could achieve with just $5000. The tips and tricks were super helpful-I never knew DIYing a kitchen could be so affordable and rewarding.
@WhatTheFlipShow definitely worth the wait! It was a great episode. My wife and me did a cabin remodel and used the butcher block counter tops, it was cool to see you guys use them too.
I appreciated the step-by-step guidance in the video, making it seem doable even for someone like me who's not a DIY expert. The final result looked so impressive, and I couldn't believe it was done on a $5000 budget!
This budget kitchen makeover video is a total eye-opener! It breaks down every cost and shares smart DIY tips that make the whole process look achievable. I love that they used affordable materials without compromising on style - it's inspiring for anyone looking to upgrade their kitchen without breaking the bank.
When you guys were attaching the butcher block counter tops, what was the device you installed in the bottom? Looked like maybe something to pull them tight together? What's it called? Love the videos!!!
I think you did great. Most flips or new builds don't come with appliances aside from the dishwasher. So I think you succeeded. Looks fantastic and gives me a realistic budget and goal
Looks amazing. I did butcher blocks in a rental but I used a much tougher finish than mineral oil. That will need to be applied regularly to maintain water resistance. I would do an oil based finish or polyurethane.
For the price, I think you did a great job. Im not a fan of the word cheap, i prefer codt effective .... and that's what you guys did a very cost effective, particularly and tasteful kitchen. You added a lot of nice touches that in other fixer uppers wouldn't do.. You made counter seating that nicely frames the room, and when washing the dishes the person can see everyone in the rest pf the room and put the front window and the green color is nice. Kudos for the Lazy Susan and corner unit for the upper- so many people do a budget kitchen and have so much wasted space because they won't do a Lazy Susan. Water friendly flooring in a kitchen is always nice and practical and on the TV it looks nice. Other ideas for sourcing items are the App Next door or Facebook marketplace. We got so many items free and in great shape from Next Door.
You two did a wonderful job. I 'm in the process of planning my Mom's Kitchen Renovation in the Bronx, while living in California. My Budget is $5,000. Installation cost is my issue.
Looks great! I don't like stainless steel so those white appliances would have worked for me if they were in working order. But I get it 98% of people like the stainless.
you'll need to take up the flooring, relocate the plumbing. Or if you have access to plumbing below the floors in a basement or crawlspace, you can move the lines along with any electrical that way for a seamless hidden installation.
I know this is a old video but for budget builds should have used market place for some items , could have found kitchen cabinets for a fraction of the price along with appliances that are practically new but used
You guys are hilarious, the kitchen looks great and guess what, with the butcher block countertop you don’t have to look for the cutting board any more. 😄
LOVE the kitchen! AMAZING job and GREAT tips on cost-saving ideas. For the island, how did you get the water line for the sink without having to go into the foundation to add it? That's my current remodel hiccup. 😔
It’s beautiful I’d skip home every day if that was my kitchen. I just didn’t see the point in paying for flooring when you could do 4-5 polyurethane top coats to waterproof the wood.
OMG - my husband and I DIY'd a kitchen in 2012 - thought there is no chimney on the roof - this must be decoration.... nope - HAHAHA. You know how we took it down though - brick by brick...
Everything looks great! However, one thing to keep in mind. Electrical code, regarding kitchen islands, it is illegal to have an outlet installed below the countertop. Again, overlook looks amazing, just something to consider down the road.
How are you installing an outlet in the island at or above countertop level. You install them under the countertop usually in a decor door on the side or back of the island like they did in this video
Definitely would have replaced the kitchen window with a nice awning window and fixed the wall and called that as part of the house reno budget. Placed the sink under that nice new window and left the center of the kitchen open for the option of a nice narrow rectangle table to be placed in the center this way it is a place to eat and a place to roll out dough and work. You could have repurposed the old sink/drainboard and that would have saved on counter budget and maybe a sink budget if it did not need to be refurbished. Placing a rug under the table would have masked the blemish in the floor, the reason you placed the island in the center of the room. So, you are suppose to rinse the dishes and drip water across the floor and load the dishwasher? The island is all sink and has no room for working.
Base cabinets are not good. No one wants to be on hands and knees searching for something. Always opt for drawers on the bottom for kitchens and bathrooms. Great job 👍👍👍
We agree to an extent, but the point of this video was to make a kitchen beautiful for as CHEAP as possible, so stock base cabinets were the option we went for.
They didn’t make the pantry as tall as we needed. We were actually in the process of building a wine rack to even out the disparity, but the house sold before we finished. It bothered us as well but when trying to stay under budget concessions were made.
Why didn't you put the dishwasher in the island where the sink is???? You are going to have water dripping on the floor from the sink over to the side counter where you did install the dishwasher.
Space would allow the island couldn’t be any bigger and when opening the dishwasher door it extends to the sink so you can easily transfer without dripping. Not perfect solution but when renovating old homes concessions have to be made.
Agreed but the layout of the space made it difficult, but When the dishwasher door is open you’re able to move dishes from the sink to the dishwasher rack without moving.
No Warranty, and we want the people who buy the house to having working appliances. Flippers have a bad reputation so we do what we can to make sure the buyer is taken care of!
What are you're favorite ways to save money on a remodel?
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Refacing old cabinets and placing up to date knobs & pulls.
IMO - you guys TOTALLY succeeded at staying under budget because not everyone will need to buy new appliances if they're DIYing their own homes ;)
Thank you!!!

They didn’t include half the costs. Plumbing, electrical, paint, dry walling, waste disposal. No where near $5000. I’d say $8000 at least.
What about cost of screws, grout, etc?
Its the little costs that add up..
