Tritons do punch well above their weight. Very capable machines and can definitely foot it with the best of what is out there!

Being a true blooded Englishman it kills me to say this but Australians are the best in the world when it comes to testing 4x4's............. and insulting people. Great vid and review

i found it pretty spacious and the engine noise was almost non-existent in the cabin... also didnt find that it lagged until it hit 2500 rpm... the auto shift was smooth and responsive from a stop start..

I didn’t really think highly of the triton but after being in my friends triton I was quite impressed and being around $10k less than most its actually a good buy because you can save your money to get a new boat.

Glad the Triton become better. And i like Mitsubishi also because they had great history in racing ("Dakar Rally" and "World Rally championship"). Mitsubishi are sometimes underrated from people including me before, but from my own experience with my relatives, I had opportunity to drive and also become passanger in the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport for long journeys and i'm feel comfortable & feels not too tired better than in my honda CR -V and toyota Fortuner(in fortuner sometimes i feel dizzy & queasy , maybe because of the suspensions & body movement). And pajero sport's horsepower & torque are great enough for overtaking on the motorway and climbing/ hill roads, & Fun to drive also. But still every car has it's own weakness, test drive personally or with freinds or family. Peace :)

As long as heavy towing or hauling isn't your main purpose for it, I reckon they're an excellent vehicle and will get you to the same spots as any of the other utes.

What does 'get you out of trouble' in regards to a 6th speed in the auto mean?
Isn't this auto from the Pajero? That seems to be a reliable unit

Exactly what I was thinking. You're travelling on a freeway and you're in trouble how exactly? At least in any way where another ratio on your gearbox will mean jack. I own the mid range model and dollar for dollar it is the best 4x4 ute you can buy at the moment I think. The Hi-lux like all Toyota's is over priced and under equipped, The Ford ranger is a great vehicle but Ford are dead in Australia and the Mazda BT50 is lot more in dollar terms.

Get you out of trouble- He is referring to spreading the torque curve over more gears to give optimum performance for acceleration from rest or during overtaking. The turbo lag seems to be a problem on these models- torque kicking in at 2500rpm is a tad late compared to the Ranger at 1700rpm.

I looked in to this as was interested The torque seems to be around 350nm from 1500rpm than maxing at 430nm at 2500rpm:

l have No qualms in the New Mitsubishi Triton. The engine is good not really fantastic but good but it looks UGLY. That front chrome grill is like a pick up for gay men. Too Shiny for real men. I have seen the Mitsubishi Triton Phantom which they do without the chrome front grill just blacken out. It looks great. That's what Real men wants NO nonsense pick up truck just brute and muscle.

The Ranger does have chrome but not as vulgar and indiscreet as this Triton. Look at the Phantom man it looks great without the chrome. Too shiny. Unless its something your into.
