      Linus is publicly facing and a well-known celebrity and his being doing this for years. Yvonne accepted her husband, his job,, and sits back to raise the family because Linus is hard at work supporting his family.
      Looking back to his early days at NCIX making crappy-ass video quality tech reviews that he perfectly executed long before people were making reviews of anything. I'm not saying he's the one who started it, but I'm just going to say he made it professionally sounding and appear to a wider audience. Another thing to like about Linus his completely unbiased of anyone's decision skill because he knows money and budget are not always his majority of viewers will always have.
      Linus makes a pretty solid tech advice because they're unbiased and will do as much doing a pro versus con to also including if you do choose the con you may have to adjust this and that. This is the reason why Linus is great for being unbiased on any subject that doesn't involved..... Money.

      I super agree on this, Linus has helped me immensely by simply talking about himself.
      I didn't know I had ADHD, but he talked about it and... oh..? I thought it was normal, that I was just a total failure at organising myself compared to everyone else?!
      So I followed his advice on to do lists and suddenly became twice as productive. I'm still crippled compared to a normal person for tasks I'm not interested in, but I'm at least finishing important tasks. I get the feeling that Yvonne does a lot of Linus wrangling, if he's anything like me & if she's anything like my fiancé; she never looks like anything less than an invincible bastion of having-her-shit-togetherness in a way that I never will on my own

Take all of the long, deep thoughts and releases and mental breakdowns and senses of relief from a normal shower...now imagine it being out loud, with the one person that is always willing to help you through those things (or, should be, at least). It's great.

    • @Watchandlearn91
      @Watchandlearn91 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @agapp11able That sounds cool when you're a teenager or first married but when you've been together for a while, that's not really the best place for that most of the time and you find that all you do in the shower is talk and actually take a shower.

    • @Watchandlearn91
      @Watchandlearn91 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @agapp11able The bedroom usually is the best place. I think it's different for every relationship. Some people still are active in it daily and some very rarely do it anymore. I will say there is probably a direct correlation between those who get divorced and rarely have sex and those who are still married and still engage fairly often.

    • @Watchandlearn91

      @agapp11able if i use my last 2 years living with my partner as reference, I can agree with Watchandlearn91. When you're with someone for a while you've had sex usually hundreds of times, and you're already together all the time, so the teenage rabbit phase p much ends for a lot of people. I'd say most married/engaged couples who live together probably have sex a few times a week. I have p low libido tho

    I got married to my wife very quick too (engaged in first 3 months of dating lol), didnt even have a honeymoon, moved, changed jobs, went back to college together, worked in the same childcare together, and had 2 wonderful boys. To say it is difficult to find our "adult" time or just personal couple time would be an understatement. We know the grind for sure and now we even work directly in the same classroom together.
    As much as that can be a huge stressor on a couple to live AND work together, I try to remind my wife the same, we should be thankful to utilize the best of it. If anything its a good marriage training to work together and become stronger (granted we guys always recognize our wifes hard work, especially giving us wonderful children). But in all honesty I wouldn't have it any other way. We also have to tell ourselves it wont last forever so make the best of it! Sorry for the longness, but hang in there, we totally understand. BTW I am a tech freak following you guys since 2017 (maybe 2018, I use to hear your videos while I work, let's be efficient, ok?) and I feel a bit jealous about all the cool things you can get hands-on and opportunities to test (and maybe fight) things that mere mortals can only dream about. It would be awesome to at least enjoy one single day working with you.

Burnout is real and I’ve had to take a break from work to focus on my studies. I miss work, but I recognize that this time of recuperation is what I need more than ever. Really good segment. I'm just an outsider looking in, but like all great endeavors, LMG would not be what it is if it weren't for the families of those that build and expand it. I would say there's no way it could be nearly as successful if not only Yvonne, but all the SO's on the team are bought in on it. So here's a shout out to them! Thank you Yvonne and the rest for being a vital part of LMG. It wouldn't be what it is without you.

    Linus had some good tips here! This clip reminds me the talk that Pat Gelsinger, the current Intel CEO, did when he was still the CEO of VMware.
    His wife asked him similar questions as what Yvonne asked Linus, and it was then he acquired the perspective that our life should not be work-then-family-then-faith, but the other round.
    The talk is quite inspiring, in my humble opinion. Definitely recommended.

      faith by definition, is striving for the greatest possible good, so it makes a lot of sense putting that first, as family and work, among other things, are directly influenced by that pursuit. I know it sounds strange or even outright wrong for non-religious people, but for Christians, it's an absolut must, otherwise things will go foul very easily.

I run a community of several thousand (nothing like your community but still), and people do take you for granted, but just know the silent majority love you, appreciate you and would do anything in a call to action if they were requested. Everything about recharging is solid platinum advice. I left a job that was affecting me mentally, emotionally and physically, and it has taken 2 + months for me to even want to do things like clean my house, or visit friends, anything to recharge. The Burnout was SOOOOOO real I had to recover from that negative hole before I could even start to feel better. Take your time off folks. Especially us Americans. Unless you own your own company, you don't owe them squat. Take everything you are entitled to. Your boss won't tell you to, "GO AWAY!" unless they are in the super minority that don't treat people like a commodity to be used and disposed of.

    As someone who works in executive management of a decently sized coporation, I can safely say that dedication to your career can be a grueling experience. I had days I'd be at the office for 10-12 hours, get home, eat dinner, and then stay up to 1:00AM going over documents, just to wake up at 6:30AM to do it all over again. I'm incredibly thankful for my current wife's understanding and support, as my previous marriage collapsed over my commitment to my career and our misaligned goals for life. Hat's off to you Yvonne, and every other woman like you!
    EDIT: Also, if you are going to go down the path of career first, put off having kids as long as possible. I have no idea how Linus manages to balance all of that and running LMG.

    I'm feeling this and am in a similar position myself. I work a whole lot too in my job and to some extent have made myself irreplaceable, I absolutely love what I do and can't bare to be away from the place. I don't take vacation time very often because I literally have no other interests or hobbies outside of tech. Sometimes it can put a strain on my relationship though but we currently make it work. My employer is currently recruiting heavily and we've grown the team three-fold in a matter of months and the hardest part for me is delegating the tasks that I love doing to new people and trying to take a step back a bit. Us true techies seem to really struggle with this it seems!

  • @gerowen

    I came to the realization some time ago that a family needs to prioritize themselves above all else, especially a married couple. I mean obviously you have a responsibility now to your company and your employees' livelihoods, and you have a responsibility to raise your kids, but think about this. Yvonne is the only person in this world who "chose" to spend the rest of her life and possibly eternity (or whatever afterlife there is) with you. Your kids didn't get to choose who their parents were, so as much as you love your kids, one day they're going to grow up, move out and find somebody else who they love and want to spend their lives with more than you. LMG will one day be in your rear view mirror. When it's all said and done, when your kids have their own lives and you're too old and/or tired to work any more, it's just going to be you and Yvonne. I mean this with the utmost respect and well wishes; you've got a special relationship with that woman, out of everybody, she's the single most important person in your life, so make sure she knows it.

    I used to take time off to vacation and go do stuff. But I find way more enjoyment in just taking multiple smaller vacations diving deeper into some of my hobbies more. Just being able for a full week to learn something new, or build something work on that project that keeps getting pushed aside. Helps me a lot rather than traveling. I've traveled so much that traveling for vacation is a chore to me and I find it not fun at all anymore It just feels like work.

    Heres an idea: make this into a series. LTT is very successful and Linus is someone we can all relate to if youre a techy guy even tho he is charismatic he appeals to us introverts. I think thats the perfect audience for a "overcoming anxiety, how to handle success, how to plan" and its another avenue and potential involves less tech/money. Idk
