Insurance is the largest hidden cost for drivers, and it keeps rising. People have no idea how much it costs to own and run a car.

@@commonsense504yeah there is a guy here in TH-cam called Uber jeep AZ. . Always bitching about the pay. It's like wtf...he has an accountant day job. Why is he so hard up on Uber and Lyft for? He has some good points to be fair. Do you think it's creepy for an old man to be lurking for cash rides around the college campus?

@commonsense504 no one is holding a gun to all the workers from other industries such as Healthcare, fast food workers, teachers, government workers, UPS drivers and yet they too protest instead of finding a new job. Drivers deserve fair and better pay like all the other workers.

Whether they leave or not is not important. The bottom line is that transportation just got more expensive for the consumer.
Nobody put a gun to anyone's head and told them to use their vehicle to drive around other people. I saw the Uber/Lyft scam when I quickly determined that my car is too old for them. I had to buy a more expensive vehicle that depreciates faster just so I could work more?
    I will pass.

@rocketboostjump Difference is those are actual jobs with a set salary, set hours, and benefits. Rideshare drivers are CONTRACTORS. They do not work for Uber and Lyft, the companies are outsourcing work to them. The drivers are SELf-EMPLOYED. Just like any contractor, if they can't be profitable in their business, it is time to shut it down or work with different customers.

Many drivers invested 20k to 50k to drive for Uber/Lyft. When I go into the parking lots I see many expensive vehicles. It isn't easy just to say I quit and try to sell the vehicle because more than likely you will end of selling it for a heavy loss owing thousands. Best case scenario would be continue driving and make enough until you get the vehicle paid off

@@rocketboostjump How much drivers are investing into their sidejob is no one else's problem. Noone put a gun to the driver's head and said to invest in an expensive car for a gig that pays very little. The customer should not be paying for the driver's stupidity.

Simple fix- Uber/Lyft driver/food deliver take rate is between
75%-80%. Take rate includes the “So called commercial insurance (pocket $) plus external fees”. Change the platform a bit, have the driver get thier own rideshare insurance, plus rid some external fees. They can now distribute that $ to the drivers. I hope this isn’t to much common sense for the “GREEDY GIANTS” .,.
