Lyft is by far better because I don't have to obtain a particular acceptance or Cancellation rate to at least be able to see what direction the rider is going. Lyft doesn't care acceptance rate so they always let you know how far you are driving the customer. Uber makes it difficult to get a high acceptance rate because they'll send you rides to pick somebody up 10 miles away to drive them 1-mile but if the same thing happens with lift and you decline it they don't punish you for it and still will let you see where you're taking the writer when the ride comes in.

I drive for both, 1 + years with Uber and only 1 month for Lyft. I've been alternating every other weekend to see what pays the best and Uber wins by a large margin. Maybe it's the city I live in, but the cliental is different. Lower income people, who hardly ever tip, uses Lyft and the more middle/high income people use Uber and they tip more. Just my experience.

Not true about longer trips. You're generally covering greater distances and using more gas, making the longer trips actually less profitable. The only way I do longer trips in my city is if they are surge-priced, or if they get me to an area that I want to be.

I use the dollar per mile rate to determine whether I accept a ride. I work both apps. In Las Vegas Lyft is the better choice hands down with my criteria. I don’t consider long rides with Uber because they have not offered the destination filter here for months. Lyft does!

One big factor for me is passenger quality. On that metric, in Atlanta, Uber is the very clear winner. For some reason, Lyft in this market attracts a trashy clientele who are problematic about 60-70% of the time, whereas Uber attracts a higher class customer base that's almost entirely drama free.

In LA I never get ride challenges from Lyft and on Uber now is offering earnings based bonuses which are virtually nothing. I've heard some drivers getting ride based bonuses. But if they are I'm sure the bonus is very, very low

Yeah, this sounds like it could have been made in 2016-17. But it does say this is aimed at new drivers.
My advice for new drivers is don't try to make this work full time. Sure, you MIGHT be in one of the few markets where this can be a full time job, but you're most likely not.

Harry, First of all are you ok? Is today April 1st? Wink once if you are being held against your will by Dara. You need to look into the camera when speaking to people and not at what you are reading. If this is a new take on Uber and Lyft it is surely different in Florida!!!
1- Ride challenges are non existent here. Uber quests are not by trip they are by accumulated earnings (not including ride tips) and are pitiful at best.
2- The statement that you earn more on a long ride is one of the most misleading statements you can make. You may generate more revenue but certainly little to zero profit on a long ride.
3- How many markets are left where a driver is paid by time and distance??? (that are not mandated by law)
4- Surge is a good thing for drivers? 2x to 3x more?? Yes Uber or Lyft may charge that but to say that filters down to the drivers is really a stretch. Teach me o wise one, when there is a 3x surge, does Uber pay more for the technology used on that ride? The insurance for that ride? Their service fee for that ride? Of course not. Please send me a screenshot from 2023 that proves that a surge/ride bonus yields the driver 2x to 3x. I won't hold my breath!
I could comment for an hour just on this 4 minute propaganda piece. This video is patronizing to drivers in the same way U/L treats drivers and riders. Disappointing to see this from this channel, and by the founder no less. Cant wait till Tuesday night and the SMTMC for a dose of reality
Please reply with a wink in the comments if you need help and I will call 911 for you.

At SFO Waiting 1* hours for a ride that is paying 16 dollars for 13.5 miles driving. Plus 13.5 miles driving back. Most rides pays less than 5 dollars downtown SF. That means to earn 15 bucks a driver has to complete 3 trips in the city to earn $15/hr. Most Passengers have no clue how little their drivers earning for there is absolutely no correlation in between how much customer is paying and how much is driver earning from that ride. Passengers often already upset paying premium prices and expect premium service no matter how rude they are sometime. Yet drivers are also upset spending 2/3 of their day in their vehicles and still not being able to pay bills on time. Drives should again be able to earn decent money like it used to be. They shouldn’t be thinking payments they missed while driving they should be able to earn enough so they can keep their focus on the road and quality of the service they provide.

I agree with Harry on a lot of what he discusses. The information he shares is well researched. It is not semantics however when discussing making more money. I believe that Uber drivers can generate more revenue because they have a larger pool of passengers however drivers should be interested in what is most profitable. That is a much more difficult question to answer. From my experience while I could generate a lot more revenue with Uber I am much more profitable with Lyft.

That is literally THE most inhumane way of structuring a business partnership that I've ever heard of. Imagine driving and seeing money coming in, knowing you'll never get a dime of it.
