- There's a battle brewing over whether to preserve one of the oldest buildings in the state and the debate to demolition the building or not, is revealing some interesting history.
Anyone who as ever been to Europe knows the value and charm of old buildings and architecture. The history is in what we have built!
Shameful that the St Paul mayor is against saving this bit of his city's history. At the very least, move the structure, as the preservationists are recommending. This hamburger joint won't be here in a few years (restaurants don't last) but this stone house from the city's early days deserves to endure.
The building can be preserved
Historic landmarks aren't meant to be lived-in! What a pitiful excuse, shame on the mayor and this "Moe" guy both.
Brit here - why on earth was this historic structure not put on a Listed Building grade, so not legally able to be demolished? It should NEVER have been able to deteriorate into that state. I know the Twin Cities well and I've never returned to find the same restaurants - that burger joint will be gone in a few years along with all the rest. Protect your history!

They want to tear it down because the property is worth so much. I’m sure that’s why he let it degrade so he’d have an excuse
Save it. We will need it when our great great great great great grandkids need a template how to rebuild after the world of greed dooms us.
Yes it would be great to be preserved but....
The man bought it and can do as he likes.
Unless he's willing to sell, not sure how u can stop demo.
