For anyone looking to dance in VR, I have a few things to add. Crocs like these are great, but not the most secure for swinging legs around, not to mention the weight. Running shoes would be a better fit. If you want to stay the strap route, I would highly recommend the EOZ foot and chest straps over using the track straps. The EOZ feet actually do strap behind your heel and are very comfortable over long dance sessions rather than the mass of velcro in the middle of your foot that was discussed in the video. It’s a similar situation when dancing with a belt used as an upper chest strap. That thing moves everywhere, and you will constantly have to pull it up (im talking like every minute or two). Just get the a GoPro/eoz chest harness instead. All that being said, for just chilling this is a fantastic idea. Thanks mr bones for sharing croc info. Id personally ziptie a mount instead of the tracker itself, so I can remove it easily.
exactly this, and to add; if you already bought a set of trackstraps or bought a set of cheapo ones (like me) but you don’t want to spend extra just to get the ones with the ankle strap, what I did is just sew a strip of elastic band to the back of your existing straps and it achieves basically the same thing
I made my VR crocs more secure by adding a lil strap to go around my ankle and close that with buckles :3 just a bit of sewing to make the strap secure on the crocs strap itself and some more to add on the small buckles x3
Personally I hate the velcro of the Trackstraps, the EOZ's are perfect. The chest strap i'm mixed on. I'm kind of a big guy and I have it adjusted as big as I can get it. And for the tracker to not be all up in my beard I gotta pull it down and uh... essentially it feels like what i'd imagine one of those lingerie just underwire bras would feel like. Am I doing it wrong or is that just kinda how it is?
YUPPP i will do 12 hours non stop dancing when it feels right, and over time i found i could combine straps with my runner shoes. i combined both to have the best of every worlds, it takes seconds to get in, swap and just keep going really! As for the shoes, it doesnt get much more natural than wearing them
Just tried it out because I had an extra pair of workstation crocs.... and it works really damn well. Thanks for this , feet straps were agonizing to use, and its hilarious how well this works, and how much longer I can use feet tracking now without tapping out due to discomfort.
yeah gaymer crocks are pretty sick. I normally wore my straps barefoot because... my floor is clean? I have no reason not to, but when my straps ripped apart from use I took the bolt out, and just threaded it through one of the holes on an old pair of crocks for a "Get me by" till my new straps. Was really comfy and considered making them permanent but thought yeah plugging in my crocks to charge might be a bit hm
the EOZ foot straps specifically dont have the rotation problem because of the strap that goes behind your ankle on them. personally i think crocs are too clunky to dance in but i definitely think they're good for comfort
An upgrade for people with elbow knee and chest tracker is to create a harness between those tracker with some of those elastic bedsheet straps. Knees and chest to a belt and elbow to the chest strap.
I discovered VR Crocs on my own a year or so ago. I just got a couple screws and bolted my vive trackers through a hole on both Crocs. I also attached small battery banks to the Crocs as well.
The Google Home base station thing is GENIUS. I'm doing that as soon as I can. I already have smart lights set on a timer in my house, I was THINKING about getting that for the base stations but man. Smart.
I 3d printed a little screw that mounts trackers like a normal croc charm which makes it really easy to pop them on and off when you want to charge the trackers or go outside without changing shoes. It's not super secure but they stay in place during casual walking and mirror dwelling sessions which is enough for me.
Love this idea, may do the same. Currently I use shoes dedicated to VR and i attach the 3.0's to the shoelaces, works wonders. But this looks even better!
I just bondage my Vive Trackers into my shoe laces and they've been very stable for dancing, they don't even jiggle once my feet are in. For when I don't feel like wearing shoes, I use EOZ's ankle straps paired with Tundra trackers. Also, I would strongly avoid Rebuff Reality's Trackstrap belts with the problem being it's not wide enough to keep the tracker vertically stable and they're also low quality which means low durability, speaking from experience. Unless you need the additional battery, get the Kiwi Design straps instead, they're wider, thicker, more comfortable and overall higher quality, a much better fit for working out or dancing in VR.
I did a similar upgrade with lace less running shoes! Adidas has a shoe with an elastic strap and I modified them to have my trackers on them and cheap battery packs are retained under the elastic making it easy to remove the battery packs to charge separately if needed.
Ive been an advocate for dedicated VR shoes since day one. With the right setup it makes stuff so much easier and reliable. Event spent way too long designing some 3d printed mounts for all my trackers.
This is somehow the perfect solution and I love it. I wonder if there's a way to make the other straps more comfortable too, either by using a normal belt instead of a strap or something else
I have vives, slimes incoming and face tracking with QPro, but hardly anything to do in VRChat. I'm like that meme where he goes "I wish I had VR - I wish I had full body - I wish I had friends" Actual comment tho: I really like the EOZ straps as they have those straps around the ankle, really helps lock them in place securely.
If I recall you can set your base stations to automatically go to sleep when steamVR shuts down. Meaning they stop spinning. Its a setting somewhere in steamVR.
At first I was concerned, and thought I'll grab them on Booth, and then I realized this is IRL genius, while I have mixed feelings getting Crocs... has there ever been a more perfect setup?
for a while I only had 3 straps for my 10 point tracking, so what did I do? i took some soft paper towels, folded them and placed it as padding around my elbow joint, wrapped that in gauze, placed tracker over my elbow on top of said gauze, then used electrical tape to secure it. I needed scissors to take them off the first time, but after that i made sure to line the end point on the gauze and the electrical tape up so i could peel them off.
i have track straps attached to my slippers and since my trackers are the old 2.0s, i also strap fucking batteries above my ankles also a battery strapped to my waist belt, i only have to charge all those once a week now :)
3D printed stuff for shoe/crock mounting a lot better and it locks in place a lot more. Same goes for hips. Only place I actually use a strap for is knees and elbows since ive not looking into making or finding something better. But for feet and hips I suggest not buying straps, they wear out and are not good quality. The feet and hip things I 3D printed have lasted since 2018. I see people with straps they last about 1 year before being on life support just about holding on desperately needing new ones. Once you compare the cost of buying new ones each year or 1 time 2x the price thatll last over 4 years, its better. The 2x price thing being the cost of if you was to get a 3D printing company to do it for you or get if you have a printer already to do it for literal pennies. And if you have a friend in VRChat who has a printer, theyll usually be more than happy to print it for you
to anyone looking to buy straps still reading this comment, eoz straps are much more comfortable than trackstraps imo (vive or tunrdas have tried both on both) ive tried with some offbrand ones off amazon, the trackstraps, and eoz straps. Though I just use a pair of shoes with my trackers
Yeah the backstrap (for the ankles) on the EOZ Foot Straps makes them a must buy over Rebuff Reality's feet straps. They stay in place and I don't find myself needing to recalibrate nor do they hurt my feet since they don't have to be tight around the base of my foot. (I've used my EOZ Straps for over a year and across 7000+ hours of VRChat and they're still in perfect condition like wow lol). Personally I think the EOZ Straps are a must-buy vs the Rebuff Reality Feetstraps (even considering the extra battery life) since I prefer quality over quantity than for my VR Experience and plus I find my Trackers last as long as my Index Controllers so it'd probably pointless for me to have the Trackers last longer, lol.
this is cool, but why wouldn't you just thread a 1/4" bolt through one of the holes? Then you could take it on and off without having to break the zip ties, say for charging.
Update, I got it loose, but the bolt popped out. I'll certainly be getting the track strap plus and I shall be VERY gentle with them. Having the same battery life as my index controllers will be great, and the Velcro on my straps is all worn out. Went back to good old belt, crocs, and zip ties, Aka what I used when track straps were sold out.
You turn your basestations off?? You know it's actually less mechanically demanding to constantly spin than to spin up and down since they're hard drive motors?
I just looked at my daughter's Crocs so she and my wife can get into VR a day ago and thought of this idea too! I didn't even say it out loud for my phone to hear. Then you put out a video. I would honestly just put a screw with a washer underneath the tracker in one of the holes. You're doin' too much. I myself will just buy a pair of cheap water sports shoes(they kinda look like knockoff vibrams) and put a screw on those because I don't like Crocs. But this good for introducing VR fbt to someone!
I think I'm the only person who has never owned or worn a pair of crocks in my life. I don't even think that is how they're spelled, that is probably the walmart blue light special rip off brand. I don't like being barfoot in VR, I have to have shoes. I tried the carpet thing to tell where the center of my room was with bare feet but glad I can still feel a carpet through shoes. I haven't gotten full body trackers yet but I'm sure there is something to 3D print that attaches to shoes laces somehow.
anyone know how to fix hip tracker drifting. i have cleared my room of all reflective surfaces and my dongles are spread far enough apart from each other to stop interference. if anyone has any experience with this issue and has found a fix i would appreciate some tips. thanks :)
I wear my VR straps barefoot, i’m a twisted fucking cycle path 😈
Me too
Sounds like the average person during ERP. Lmao
R/boneappletea
I wear my programming socks in VR. It makes me feel extra cute.
You're a cycle path? I'm staying off your road, you're scary
The crocs stay in sport mode during ERP.
Better use flip flops for extra pounding sound effects.
lol yall are *nastyyyy*

"yeah let me put on my Crock Trackers."

Or... you can not be an odd critter and lay down with animations off like the rest of us?
Just tried it out because I had an extra pair of workstation crocs.... and it works really damn well. Thanks for this , feet straps were agonizing to use, and its hilarious how well this works, and how much longer I can use feet tracking now without tapping out due to discomfort.
"It's time to be a degenerate" I gotta use that for my own setup lol
i dont see enough appreciation for the pure spectacle that those vr crocs are. they look amazing Boneless
VR Crocs are the future, but I am living in 2077. I run an index on each foot and a quest 3 on my waist for optimal gaming.
lmao. this is peak fr
Genius is both simple and stupid, and this paid the bills
yeah gaymer crocks are pretty sick. I normally wore my straps barefoot because... my floor is clean? I use shoelaces, it's super simple, but overpowered, though it assumes you're okay with using jogging shoes inside.
better solution for mounting trackers to a crock: use a flathead screw and a washer.
Yea I got the EOZ straps and they are comfy AF.
oh no the truck nuts
The little chibi on your shoulder is so cute lol xD
The EOZ straps actually fix all the problems you have with your rebuff straps. I highly highly recommend them.
the EOZ foot straps specifically dont have the rotation problem because of the strap that goes behind your ankle on them. personally i think crocs are too clunky to dance in but i definitely think they're good for comfort

I've used the eoz straps for over 2 years now and I love them.
I used to use my track straps and wrap them around some slip on sandals, was always fun to pick up my foot and throw it at someone in VRC, good times
You can easily find mounts to add to crocs, that’s what I did at least, that way there is nothing going into the shoe
Ive been really liking the vive ultimate trackers. Happy to say goodbye to my base stations
The Google Home base station thing is GENIUS. I'm doing that as soon as I can. I already have smart lights set on a timer in my house, I was THINKING about getting that for the base stations but man. Smart.

people do use shoes like converse and put them through the laces but crocks do look much better for this type of thing or simple slip on shoes
I would do this, it's just that I like to be able to slide around too, and crocs are very grippy lol
Love this idea, may do the same. Currently I use shoes dedicated to VR and i attach the 3.0's to the shoelaces, works wonders. But this looks even better!

Elbow and knee straps need some love... Nobody talks about those
eoz has a chest strap too and their feet strap is god tier, i switched to them like a month ago and lord i feel free
This is somehow the perfect solution and I love it.

I strapped my trackers to a pair of bath slippers using zipties. super easy to use, but there is a risk of literal flying kicks 😂
I personally think that EOZ's newer foot straps are the best you can get, but the drip levels here are INSANE
If I recall you can set your base stations to automatically go to sleep when steamVR shuts down.

Its a setting somewhere in steamVR.
not with the aero
There's a nice piece of software called "OyasumiVR". It's meant for sleeping, but has automations for turning base stations on and off/standby.
oh wait the acrilic actually goes so hard
Good idea. Should put an IMU tracker on my slippers, instaed of my ankles. 😂

I just elastic strap the trackers on barefoot shoes and use it that way
At first I was concerned, and thought I'll grab them on Booth, and then I realized this is IRL genius, while I have mixed feelings getting Crocs... has there ever been a more perfect setup?
Foot haptics would be cool
someone has already done that. Search up "Haptic Pancake Teaser". They cost less than $10 to build if you have a 3d printer

Great video, although... Where do I find the twin turbo 9mm crocs? Amazon doesn't seem to stock those 🤔🤔
to anyone looking to buy straps still reading this comment, eoz straps are much more comfortable than trackstraps imo (vive or tunrdas have tried both on both)
ive tried with some offbrand ones off amazon, the trackstraps, and eoz straps. Though I just use a pair of shoes with my trackers
Holy shit my fucking dance in the background. Thank god for FBT
Omg the crocs just keep getting better
Yeah the backstrap (for the ankles) on the EOZ Foot Straps makes them a must buy over Rebuff Reality's feet straps. Meanwhile the lining on the crocs is going to trap in the foot stink
This tech is kinda crazy
the sport mode vr crocs
The light house pm app works great with 2.0s not good for 1.0s.
Personally switching to the EOZ foot straps fixed all these issues for me
cant you make steam turn the base stations on and off if depending if steamvr is open? ive done it before
Too bad I'm a quest user and have to calibrate the trackers :( I don't know if the shoe position would work during calibration
this is cool, but why wouldn't you just thread a 1/4" bolt through one of the holes? Then you could take it on and off without having to break the zip ties, say for charging.
I need a solution liie this for hip tracking
Wait, why are you turning on/off your base stations?
My trackers are stuck to my track straps. THEY WON'T UNSCREW.

Babe wake up new Boneless video!!!!!!!!!
is there a method similar to it but using tundra trackers instead of 3.0?
Unexpected boneless
this video is for me.
I use VIVE ultimate trackers and not sure I could affix zipties on a pair of crocs reliably…
You turn your basestations off?? You know it's actually less mechanically demanding to constantly spin than to spin up and down since they're hard drive motors?
the crocs keychain 😭
THE CHROME NUTSACKWS I DIDNT EVEN SEE THOSE IM CRYING
This is dumb... why do I love it?
Barefoot trap guy here! Never had an issue. Don't know why everyone makes such a deal out of it

not worth the risk

are those curb feelers on crocks? 🤣

nah the balls are crazy
Hell yeah Boneless!
CAn you make a vid for fbt tips?
we got vr crocs before gta 6 lol
I just wear mine around my ankles
is that weird?
Why did I just see raw sack on the back of them jons..?
What happened to the old title , vr CROCS
I LOVE ZIPTIES
I am about to produce a tracker holster suit that will solve these problems :)
Bro legit the other day Crocs came out with a Nascar Croc and it has a spoiler too lmfao
you could just use short 1/4in bolts 😭
If you use crocks for that you may be excused, but if you had them to put on the feet when being indoors... whats wrong with you :-D
Kiwi > Rebuff >> EOZ
heres to the algorithm W vid
Drip drop
i saw the thumbnail and i thought the zipties were spikes
