Bleach will oxidize and rust metal or steel. So if you're using a heat based humidifier you will cause the steel to rust and breakdown, eventually killing your unit. Bleachhh will not remove scale. Recommended you use vinegar. It is still acidic but will not ruin or humidifier as quickly.
What I do is seperate the heating elements and the tank itself I use vinegar on the heating elements and bleach on the tank cleaning both without damage
I believe she stated in the video she cleans it with vinegar every week to remove the scale etc but does the Clorox every so often to clean and sanitize.
Thanks for this video. I have the exact same humidifier and it's getting kinda funky. Time to go clean it! Definitely don't wanna get sick from mold or mildew.
I used to have a humidifier like that and it caused and overflow in the bottom part as the one I have now works really good fabulous cleaning tricks I’ll use those tricks fabulous video
Can i add a couple of drops of bleach to the tank every time I refill it and just leave it to prevent mold buildup before it starts? I think the concentration of bleach won't be strong enough to cause problems.
The first thing I noticed is that you are wearing black while using bleach. Mine would be black with white polka dots when I finished 😆 thank you for sharing this! I need to get mine out, clean it and start using it. My home is so dry a d my allergies are raging.
Couldn’t you have left the water in the humidifier and added bleach to it? Then used the other bleach water in glass jug to soak smaller parts and to pour into base and soak it? Just seems like it would have been easier and less wasteful of the water. Did the bleach water discolor you’re washcloth or towel nearby?
Hello. ❤️Thank you for sharing. I never knew how to take my humidifier completely apart. I also love cleaning with vinegar. I tried to find you on Instagram but your link below is not working. Would love to follow you.
yeah I know too late now, but when mine would not come on, i found it was because I did not have the tank on the base correctly, It looked like it was, but when I moved it a little it slipped into place and all was good.
I have always been scared to use bleech. I always use vinager but it never occurred to me until just now, that the bleach is so diluted there is no reason to be scared 😂 Also, baby bump having her (his? -- idk why I assumed that's a girl 🤷♀️) moment of TH-cam fame ❤
A ;ITTLE DISSAPPOINTED...I HAVE THE EXACT HUMIDIIER AND ITS A PAIN IN THE BIUTT TO CLEAN, THERE R SO MANY TINY PLACES UR FINGERS CANT REACH. AND YOU DIDNT EVEN SHOW HOW TO CLEAN THE NASTY PART UNDER THE WATER TANK. THE WHITE PLASTIC AREA. YOU JUST SKIMMED ACROSS IT.

It's so simple I do it once a week before any build up starts inside.

Ha ha me too!! All safe here though ❤️❤️
What size of cup do I need for this? Do you think a coffee mug would work?

Sure! Lots of options on how to do things 👍 choose what works best for you ❤️ nope! It was diluted enough it did not.

Yeah, you probably voided the warranty by using bleach.
Coat the gasket with a tiny bit of Vaseline.
The vintage Clorox bottle tho

Lol yes it’s a girl!! I am hesitant with bleach too but a good dilution eases that lol 👍
Please help! I accidentally messed up the ratios and put 1 teaspoon of water in 1 gallon of bleach. It is difficult to breathe now.
Rinse, rinse and rinse some more 👍
I mine with drinking water freshener.
I found your IG account. 🤗 and now following. 💜💜
Yeah!! Thanks so much 🙏
I hope you didn't do the bleach video right after the vinegar one. it is very dangerous to mix them
My house blew up!! Jk 😋 thank you Audrey ❤️
I didn’t know that!
When are you supposed to use vinegar?
Doing this now.! My boyfriend's germaphobe friend gave him a humidifier but I'm still gonna give it a bleach bath before we use it lol.
PLEASE EVERYONE....DO THIS WHEN ITS EMPTY FROM USE....THIS WAY JUST WASTES WATER DOWN THE DRIAN...AT LEAST WATER YOUR PLANTS WITH IT!
Do you live in a desert?
This is interesting, the only comment I have is the music is annoying, I notice everything has background music. Drives me nuts.
No. No. No and NO
