I let mine run outside with the vinegar in it for about an hour. That gets rid of any possible mineral buildup throughout, and is a great jumpstart for the cleaning process. I also use filtered water and clean it about once a week, so I've never seen any of that gross looking buildup on mine.

this is one of the worst parts about having a humidifier. they take sooo much work to clean and it's just a huge task to get the right supplies and my humidifier is super annoying to clean

Ive found that if you take an old toothbrush, wash it in the dish washer, you can use it for the little places to get the buildup. Then you just wash the toothbrush in the dishwasher again c: (i use it as a scrub brush for laundry stains too c:)

To save time you can skip the vinegar and treat everything with a 4-1 solution of water and 3% hydrogen peroxide.
i also have same Vicks cool mist humidifier. Wondering can run it on with vinegrar inside for 15-20 mins??

No, it has different properties and will not give the same result.
Yes, you can use regular white vinegar. That's what I also use when cleaning my coffee maker on the clean cycle.
After this video I decided that it makes more sense to buy a new one every year. I mean those things cost something in between 30 and 40€.

You can also buy distilled water and use that instead of sink water
@@josermtz My guess is that the machine's filters break down; the weekly easy cleaning will help. Myself, I have never cleaned it. I will buy a new one, and maintain a schedule.
