The denial has become like a reflex! It is truly unreal. For the age of the kids you are teaching, try telling them that if they are blaming it on their invisible best friend, they are responsible for that invisible friends behavior. You didn’t invite any extra children into the classroom, invisible or otherwise because you have more than enough work with all the real kids! 😂
My son is an only child. When he was growing up, he would do something wrong and claim he hadn't done it. I would look at him and say, "Are you telling me that elves did it? There's no one here but you and I, and I know I didn't do it!" He used to seriously aggravate me with it every single time it happened. I think he really missed having someone around to blame it on.
This was timed perfectly. My cousin’s wife was just telling me that their oldest does this all the time at home. She will be watching her daughters and the older one will smack her little sister or pull her hair or something and when Mom calls her out on it it’s always “I didn’t do anything.” Even though Mom literally watched her do it. What’s hilarious is the little sister is the exact opposite. When she retaliates at her older sister and gets caught, it’s always “She deserved it.” At least she’s honest 😂. They’re 9 and 5.
Hey friend! Don’t you think how kids ACT today is a DIRECT REFLECTION on HOW THEIR PARENTS ARE??? I do. I hear this EVERY DAY! My daughter teaches middle schoolers!😢 In 2 more years her student loans will be forgiven, because of the trope of schools she has taught in, and SHE WILL BE O U T T A THERE!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩💯😊
I stopped teaching in 2017 and sometimes I really miss it...and then I remember them dropping the trash next to the can!! And saying "stop touching her!" and hearing "I'm not!" while I'm watching them actively touch the other child's hair. 😂 You're so good at this!! Thank you for loving them even when they gaslight you. 🤣🤣🤣
As a fellow teacher this is one hundred percent true!! And I appreciate how you talk about this and talk to the parents through your videos. You are amazing! Yes, we love those kids or we would definitely not be teaching.
This happens all the time! I get it at school with my 6th graders and again at home with my own kids. Makes me feel crazy! I have to keep reminding myself that their brains are still developing.....it's the only thing that makes me feel better!
Yes! As a teacher I feel this so much. The lack of willingness to take responsibility for their own choices and try to gaslight us is unreal. Thank goodness we love them! 😂
I love the kid who says “sorry, miss.” Even if they go right back to doing it, lord I’m just so grateful when they ACKNOWLEDGE I’m not crazy. Just say “Sorry, miss.” It goes a long way.
I used to volunteer at a local science museum and part of our job was making sure the kids were interacting with the exhibits safely. Someitmes this required us to remind kids to not run/jump around. I was monitoring the exhibit hall one day and these 2 little boys were running, like RUNNING around the exhibits and I go up to them and tell them to stop. They stop and continue on their way. 5 minutes later they're running again and I tell them again to stop and they say, "We weren't running!" I SAW YOU!!!
Have you been spying on my classroom? This is EXACTLY what happens. Sometimes they are so adamant that they didn't do it, they almost convince me that I didn't see what I clearly saw!!!
You are hilarious!!! I am so glad I found you....I couldn't be a teacher. I've seen how, even the big kids behave at school. Then the parents want to get mad at the school because their kid is bad. Lol
Parents, like pet owners, are usually the generators of the problem. To be fair, it’s very hard to discipline consistently and pre-teens and young teens are normally experimenting with boundaries. As a teacher, I can only do so much with class culture and positive peer pressure, but let’s be honest, these “bad” kids are usually looking for attention they are not receiving at home, so “bad” attention will have to do.
My favorite one is when I tell them “no food in my classroom” while they’re eating a granola bar. Shove the bar in their face and drop the wrapper on the floor. I tell them to pick it up cause I’m not their mom and this isn’t a barn and they’ll reply “I didn’t do it!”
gurl.....i couldn't do your job to save my life!!!! I was a nurse for 32 years and there is NO way i could deal with children (or their parents) in today's world!!!! bless you all!!!
Yes! EVERYDAY! I don’t even waste time anymore arguing about “did they didn’t they” if I saw them. Now I just say- “ own it. You must own your mistakes and then let’s go forward.”
Straight facts! 😂😂😂 it drives me nuts on my bus! “I watched you do XYZ so why you trying to say you didn’t?! I might wear glasses but these bad boys are perfect prescription for me to see!” 😂😂😂
Unfortunately, pleading with some parents just doesn't do any good. Complete waste of time and breath.... they say crap like "no way my kids act like that" or "my kid's a perfect angel" 🙄👌
AMEN!!!! Please talk to the children!! I’m at 20 years of teaching and trying to make it to 25. I don’t know what’s up with these kids… I know I’m not crazy, but these children are driving me nuts!
I have a new student that, in spite of all my other kids AND staff members telling me he did something, he, in fact, did not do that. Because as he vehemently exclaims, "I'd never do that!!!". EVERYONE is lying on him because he's new and he's going to go to a new school. 🙄🙄🙄
Those blame days are long gone in our house -- we only have our youngest (who is 17) at home still. But when the four of them were younger, man, it was all the time. As others have said, we had a frequent and uninvited guest in our house named Not Me. Sometimes It's Not My Turn would also visit, and she wasn't much better. As our kids got older, those visitors came less and less often to our house, until they ceased to visit at all. Boy, was that a happy day! ;-) As a teacher, I don't get this kind of behavior from my 7-12th graders very often, thankfully (I teach at a small Christian international school outside of the US). Love your videos, best friend. They are relatable and yet can make me laugh at the same time. Thank you!
😂😂hitting someone, dropping things, etc require voluntary movements!!😂😂 Do NOT second guess yourself! I found it was best to reply, “Yes you did. Stop it. Sit down & stop talking.” It’s the age. They do that!😂😂😂
I homeschool and YES they ‘gaslight’ me at home! They say some of the dumbest stuff just like this and i react the same way you do… i ask’em “do you really think im crazy? Do my eyes decieve me? Do you wanna go to the eye doctor with me to get my eyes checked because im going to need you to explain to the eye doctor all these crazy hallucinations that only seem to happen when you are in my eyesight”. 😂 now I understand why adults would tell us in elementary school to “think before you speak” because now im saying it to mine lol
Sounds like middle school students to me lol!! My students did exactly that lol! It makes me mad but I just have to laugh about it. They sure do that exact thing!
Best friend, I am glad I am not going crazy! My middle schoolers act exactly in this manner. I’m a para and I feel like I am being driven to madness by these 8th graders.
Omg I just had the worst day with the kids (just not listening and acting up like this) (I work with 3-4 year olds and I love it but sometimes just aaaaahhhhhh !!! 😅😅 but you've really cheered me up thank you ! Xx
The other day I caught a 5 th grade kid using a vape pen in the corner with the coats over his head. I asked him what you got in your pocket.? He said Miss its my phone charger. I said phone chargers dont' have smoke coming out them. I was not born yesterday, child
My cousin used to work at a daycare. Damn near went home crying after work everyday. Just sad. Sometimes they’re hilarious to watch and be around. But it’s draining..
Loved the teachers rant. I had the disrupters, two boys that I had to raise alone, take heart teacher, time after time after time. I punished them, hard. They did not let my punishment get to them, I had to take off work time after time to go get my kids. And I tried everything. Grounding, taking away their stuff like Nintendo, saga. I tried whooping them, didn't last long cause I am smaller than them. But they do calm down as life goes on, and they begin to see momma's right. About everything, so when you see that kid, and what he did, remember you didn't teach him to be that way, just like I didn't teach my boys to be like that, I had to be there butts at all times. My ex-husband wasn't in their lives a lot. And it effected them, this is how they became resentful towards me, my ex-husband used to beat me and that is why I left him. They saw it happen time and time again, till I divorced him . And it is hard on them that their Dad just didn't care about them.
Former teacher here…my oldest 2 are on 6th and 7th grades and they both know I better NEVER hear they are disrespectful to any adult at school! When I taught I got so sick of hearing “not my baby” or “she/he never acts like that at home”. Ok, sure. Whatever you say.
I needed this today 😂 Yes this week in preschool these kids got spring fever or something 😓 A think 100 times today I gave a direction and was met with “no! I want to….” I run out of things to say in response.
🤣 Soo funny! Two of my children did that to me. It drove me crazy. I know what you mean. I had another child that just constantly made noises. Equally driving me crazy. These are my children now but are technically stepchildren. They went in between houses and no one else helped stop their behavior. I only had so much influence on them at first. I feel your pain. When you ran your hands down your chest it reminded me of how much I miss your running sliding listen listen listen videos- need more of those in my life;)
I'm sure you're an awesome teacher but OMG you should ne in comedy. I laugh my face off watching you but seriously my hats go off to you as an educator ❤️🙏
Kids lie like it's going out of style! I think back to when I got sent to therapy because there must be something wrong with me... for doing stuff like lying about eating a cookie at four years old LMAO!!!! Completely normal kid behavior! And then I see these kids lie straight to my face, they know I know they're lying but they're just gonna keep on doing it! My god it's exhausting.
"Don't pee down my back and tell me it's raining!" The best line ever!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I AM BORROWING THIS ONE !!!
YES!!! I fell over laughing
I know... I've never heard that expression before but love it so much I might just have to start using it 🤣🤣
@@heatherrembe2854 I am!!
Hilarious 😆
We found out, in our house, we have a fifth child. His name is not me. Who got into the cookies? In unison, " Not Me!" 😂😂
He lives at my house too! We call him the Not Me Ghost since he’s invisible.
Oh yours in is not me? Mine is “ I don’t know” 😂

I get it in my VPK classroom, too!!
Yes. Yes, they do gaslight us at home 😂
😆😆😆😆
Parents should be so lucky teachers don't come to school drunk everyday and really so how they feel about your children!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Yes ma'am they will. I watch my son actively do something and deny it
I had a terrible day today, and you made me laugh. Thank you for this video. I really needed it today.
Hope it gets better.
Hysterical. As usual. I'm actively glad I never considered teaching, but the stories are great!
My general comment back to the kids is this “My eyes don’t lie to me…..you do sometimes, but my eyes don’t.”
NOT "I'm not doing nothing, MANE!" 😂😂😂
So true. The boys in my room are growling all day this year..... constantly.
I hear this as a student and it drives me crazy. Sorry for y'all .
We all need this person in our lives 😂
My kids would never have dared behave like that. I volunteered in the school and they knew they’d get it double at home.
The accuracy of all of this😂😭😂
Your Kevin Heart reference has me 😆 🤣 😂
If I would've had you as a teacher while I was in school I would've loved going to school🤣

i just started in before and after school care and this is literally so true!! haha made my day watching this knowing I'm not crazy

Them kids, 🤣😅 it's worse when it's a grown man exhibiting the same behaviour though, my gosh. The things we women deal with. 🙄🤦♀️
Same thing on the school bus, but there are eight audio-visual cameras on my bus. It makes all the difference.
