    • @Joy21090

I'm not trying to start a fight of any kind but I have to comment on one aspect of your note. You know that students aim to live up to high expectations, and will settle into poor behaviors if there are low expectations, right? And you know words have power, right? Well calling your student a "baby" infantilizes him/her. Please try to break that habit, for the students' sake. Thanks for reading.

After 2 years spent online, I decided I was tired of screens. Plus, some of my high school English students "have the writing of a serial killer" to quote Clairee from "Steel Magnolias" and they need the practice. So I'm making them write EVERYTHING. Notes. Spelling word definitions. Their discussion question assignments. I'm so mean I'm even making them write out their unit literary terms on NOTECARDS! To hear them speak, I've completely ruined their lives by this. I always think to myself, "You're precious. What do you think we did before laptop computers were a thing?"

No Promethean board, no digital projector, no document camera, nothing but a green chalkboard, chalk and textbooks. Eventually worked up to a dry erase whiteboard. When I retired in 2013, the school had the modern equipment however but no document cameras. We did have a tablet cart that rotated between classrooms for each class to use once a week. I just recently started watching you you make me laugh I hate admit this but I am the mother of a child who probably drove a teacher crazy did terrible things like fake seizures pretending like he was peeing in the science room sink pull the fire alarm once told the teacher once I never fed him and he was starving that's why he was bad at school( and she fed him( I'm sure on the hope that he would be good the rest of the day LOL my point to all this is the Revenge comes later when they have their own children and that child is worse than they were because I went to pick my grandchild up one day and he came running out the door my son that is and he said Mom whatever I did to you growing up and to my teachers I'm sorry!
