  • This short film gives a brief insight into the unique Ferrari Dino 3.6 litre V8 upgrade package by Moto Technique. This car is the result of collaboration with David Lee of the Hing Wa Lee Group, California and Andy Cohen of Beverly Hills Motoring. The unique upgrade is "Bolt-on, Bolt-off" using original and genuine Ferrari parts and gives this amazing car the potential it always had, along with modern day performance, handling and reliability, whilst respecting and keeping the cars original charm and characteristics. As Kevin O'Rouke says himself: "The Dino's Ferrari DNA is ingrained and permanent" Jay Leno describes this car as "As nice a restored as I've ever seen...a Brilliant car"

    Simply amazing work by the Moto Technique team. This run of 10 Dino EVO editions (or at least proposed) will be sought after not because of the performance, but because of the painstaking attention to detail in making everything else work to perfection.

    Back in early 1980 I have a choice to buy Dino for about the same price Lotus but I always a have a deep love for Lotus Esprit so went for it no regret super handling car much fun. Dino would have been a great investment when you get old and look back. But in life you live once follow your passion if Ferrari calling than you must go.

    • @mototechnique1282
      @mototechnique1282  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stephen, Thank you for your question. Well, firstly you are going to need a donor car just to start off with. These Dino EVO's are bespoke and have many different technical specifications and options, so pricing can vary by quite a margin. What we would normally do is sit down with the client and find out precisely what their requirements are then we would collaborate on a specification and take it from there. Like all our restomod work each car is unique and so giving a ballpark figure is not quite straight forward.

      Hopefully you bought the Pantera because you liked it more at the time and that's the right reason to buy anything. That's because you are a car guy. Over the years, Cars come in and out of fashion, I remember in the 1980's in the UK when Dino's were about £7,000 all day long, there were plenty available and nobody wanted one. At that time most people would have also chosen a Pantera over a Dino. It's only investors and speculators that would regret not buying the Dino 206 (Aluminium Body).

      My father owned a 246 for a long time, his job was to "inflate" the engines, but he would never have done it on a Ferrari or a Dino. A 6-cylinder 2.4 liter or a 8-cylinder 3.6 liter, already on paper is a world of difference.

      Thank you for your question. These figures are made available to the owners. Yes, it will be quicker and faster than any standard Dino, but no where near modern supercar standards. But, this car is not about numbers such as 0-100kph or top speed. Its about feel and feedback between the driver and the car, its about emotion and satisfaction of a drive that will put a smile on your face every time you get into the drivers seat and experience an analogue drive with no driver aides and its all about your personal engagement with a car tailored to your bespoke specification. This is something that is just not an optional extra on modern supercars which although have crazy engine outputs and performance figures, they are in the "real world" sterilised by all the drive aides which are needed to make them drivable and safe.
      Do you really need 700-800bhp on a road car? and how many people can truly drive such a car? If you have a car that weights about 1000kgs and it has 350bhp that's about all you need to have fun. but, 0-100kph and top speed and BHP sell cars.

      Drive an original Dino and then our V8 upgrade and you will find that it has lost none of its characteristic. We believe that we have upgraded it with the upmost respect to the original car, but also with good taste. Original Dinos are now around 50 years old, why would you not update the power, handling and safety to modern standards whilst retaining all the charm of the original if you could? For the purists, it can all be returned back to absolute originality at anytime.

      Hate restomods. There is a reason why manufacturers design new models ... so just buy them. Leave the old cars to those that want to enjoy cars how they were

    Great video! Yeah I've always loved the looks of the Dino but turned off by a V6 w/ 210 hp! Yech! This changes everything!

    The most beautiful and elegant of all the Ferraris. The only detraction on this machine are the ugly hoops sticking out from the wheel wells. For those who don't know, Alfredo (Dino) Ferrari died at age 24 of Muscular Dystrophy. And the Dino was the first production mid-engine Ferrari.

      Thank you for your comment. The fender flares have been made to the exact period correct Ferrari specification that they produced on the Dino 246 "Flairs and Chair" model. Not to everyones taste, but historically correct.

    It’s obviously a fantastic car, and I saw it on Jay’s show a while back. Excellent in every way. But............it needs a better exhaust. It lacks the throatiness I’m used to from Ferrari. It sounds like a Honda Civic with offset wheels and a ridiculous rear spoiler.

    It's a shame there's not 4 or 5 minutes of no talking and just the sound of that symphony of an engine. I love hearing about builds but TH-cam automotive blue balls without enough of just no talking and flat out driving is too common

    Classic cars reflect the spirit and technology of its time, they must be as original as possible. That is not a Dino, is something else. The most valuable cars for a true collector are the original ones

    • @mototechnique1282
      @mototechnique1282  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your comment. If you collect cars just because you are interested in their value only, then yes have a totally original unrestored Dino, but remember that these cars are now approaching 50 years of age and there are not many unrestored original examples left. If on the other hand you would like to imagine the ultimate evolution and potential of what this wonderful design of probably one of the most beautiful sports cars of all time could be and what can be achieved in terms of speed, handling, safety, braking, feel and reliability with modern technology, whilst retaining all the characteristics of the original, then we would suggest that this could be the answer. It's not for everyone and we understand that, but we truly believe that we have created the ultimate evolution of the Dino and that it's now the car that it always had the potential to be, whilst totally respecting the original car and its philosophy.

    As a Ferrari mechanic with over 40 years experience you've got my respect. I've built countless Dino's over the years but this is extraordinary . My only knock on the 246 is it's underpowered, this build has taken care of that hasn't it ? Anyway, props to you from SoCal, Cheers.
