The Pantera LIVES! th-cam.com/video/deThg3LlPiM/w-d-xo.html We put the engine on a dyne and got some power numbers, then got it back in the car and took it for a DRIVE!
The amount of filming time involved for the stop motion and everything else is nuts. Great job to whoever filmed and edited this. Not to mention the whole engine restoration and build.
The most well-made vid I have seen on YT. I can't tell you how many times that blasted Cleveland cylinder placement has caught me with the 180 degrees out snag. Hey so please elaborate on the two lean misses I heard when you'd blipped the throttle? Bigger jets needed? Or is it accelerator pump needs to come in faster or with more volume?
Let's be honest here, it's the engine restoration dat got us here in the 1st place ... then the time lapse and the rest just falls in its place perfectly. For context - I live in a country where English is the 4th language, only have come across 3 Pantera in my life, v8 big block/small block are for the super duper mega rich, sultans and his kids .... myself as a working class dat will never ever own any v8 or American muscle, many here like myself, watch and enjoy Hagerty contents bcoz of our luv+passion for petrol power cars.
This is exactly why you never pay to have this machine work done on a rebuild, you can never sell it for the ludicrous goldmine you had to waste to get it done right. Buy from the sucker who already had it done for his deep hole pet project.
Aaron thanks for taking the time to acknowledge how much time went into the filming, editing, stop motion, and post-production of this video. Without question, it was an insane amount of work and a labor of love for all involved. Additionally thank you for your channel and what you do and for keeping us up to speed on the craziness that is Apple.
I think redline rebuild is the only series I've never been disappointed in. Never shilling for any random products, not overloaded with ads, always quality and interesting videos.
Been here, done this. I managed to hydraulic a '71 Pantera's 351C by opening the "trunk" lid (rear) in the rain to get a book, then starting the engine a couple of days later. I was unaware at the time, but the bodywork and air cleaners are kind of designed to funnel water into the engine. It fired ONCE, (pretty loud -- a glorious, sad sound). Bent crank, blew holes in three pistons, broke two rods and twisted one like licorice, bent push rods, heads blown off the studs, etc.). YOUR motor is in very, very nice condition by comparison. Thanks for the great video that made me happy and immensely depressed and happy.
Love love love the time lapse and stop animation video! Masterful editing and thank you for putting the time in to make the video! Love the journey this car is taking and thank you for taking us along! Bravo
Old skills which I pray just get handed on, and on, and on. It is a real joy to assist people demonstrating what real renovation is ALL about., loved the fireball on first attempted (180 deg out) start-up !
That was an excellent opening sequence with just the perfect melodic music selection to go with the visuals. Rock on, Hagerty! (music was *Haul You Down* - Wellmess feat. Divty)
That is absolutely the best time lapse video I have ever seen of an engine rebuild. It was extremely creative and just kept getting better throughout the video. The mods were awesome. Thanks for putting it out !!!
I never realized until now I've never seen a full engine rebuild. Now I have. I was really impressed with those self assembly parts that installed themselves. They are really taking those smart parts to whole another level.
This is a masterclass level of video, from the editing to the actual rebuild! You are 2nd to none when it comes to automotive content, regardless of media.
Great video. This is the first time I have ever seen an engine rebuild and this was very educational and entertaining. I admire the skills and knowledge demonstrated here, both the mechanical work and the filming and editing.
Thank you Hagerty for investing the time, energy and money into your media outlets and auto projects. Once again the team did an amazing job all the way around. And thanks for all you do for your community here in TC !
Very nice work with the engine! And, on top of that a very professional video! I love the stop-motion fotage of the nuts, bolts and tape, awesome!!! That engine will for sure be an eye catcher when back in the restored Pantera.
There is no better sounding engine than a big American V 8. Just listening to one of these engines makes my day.On my toes to see the installation of this wonderful new power plant into that Pantera, its going to be perfect marriage.
The amount of work, not just to rebuild, but to re-engineer the engine, is off the chart! One of the most satisfying restoration videos I have seen😊 Thank you Haggerty for all the effort to accomplish this build!👍👍👍
I see a Redline Rebuild video, instant serotonin rush for me. Anyway, that is one awesome rebuild of the Pantera's V8 engine! Keep up the awesome work.^^
Amazes me how much work goes into refreshing and updating an engine! Loved the editing work for this video too, both aspects are thoroughly satisfying to see the end result
I've been waiting to see a new video on the Pantera. It's truly my favorite super car of the 60's and 70's. Thanks for finding this car and sharing the restoration with us. Looking forward to the next step in the build.
Back from the dead!! Great work once again by everyone involved! Also, the ghosts that help put the engine together really give Davin a break!😂 Thanks, guys, for giving us another excellent Redline Rebuild!✌️🙂🇨🇦❤️
Cool to see the Cleveland running again… the work you guys did was impressive. My interest is what you do and that I had a Cleveland in my 1974 Mercury Cougar XR7. Sure miss that car.
Rebuilding an engine is a major endeavor. But, when you have parts that position and install themselves like in this video, it make the build a lot easier and quicker!
Edit was good but that music... I'm not sure if automotive shows use horrible 90's sounding music to feel nostalgic or if they still actually think it sounds good. Make it stop!
I love when you first fire up a new engine, and you set the timing by hand/feel to get idling... That feeling as the engine smooths out as you turn the distributor is satisfying...
Sir i just want to say i really appreciate your videos and i just love mechanical engineer, civil engineer and just building construction and engineer in general. Thank you for inspiring me sir.
Awesome video educational time lapse was incredible. Brings back memories from the 70s back in auto shop in high school. Best engine rebuild video ever
Awesome they were able to save and restore this car. So many vehicles sit wasting away in barns and garages everywhere because selfish people don't want to let them go.
You guys have the best time lapse videos on youtube. I'm not even really much of a car nut these days, but l still love engines and seeing them restored. Always a pleasure to see you in action.
Thanks so much for including the challenges getting it started. Videos often show first click start up on a fresh build but that doesn’t always happen!
The production quality of this video, over and above the craftsmanship that's happening before our eyes, is absolutely first class. Taking something ordinary and making it extraordinary. Well done!
Excellent engine shop footage. These are dying skills and are a real joy to watch. Great to see this BEAUTIFUL car get the Real treatment in the engine bay.
The production on this video is seriously one of the best I've ever seen! The unwrapping stop motion and the crank installation sequence were so satisfying and fluid to watch! Thank you for this great video! Fantastic team guys!

Excellent tutorial on fixing engine issues! I’ll be sure to check out your channel for more helpful content.❤❤❤❤
Nominate the cameraman for an Oscar please!!!!
Where can I watch the full rebuild?? when the machine put in to the car and the car come back to road

66 years old. Auto shop 49 years ago. Rapt attention to the ENTIRE video. Memories. Thank you.
Give a raise to the editor !!!!
Not if he chose the music.
I agree the music sucks at least the first portion@@chipsrafferty8362
And they shall receive 2 extra tacos, with sour cream.
That's why I came to the comments. I agree! I've never seen anything like this in 50 years of lusting after anything cars. The stop motion was genius.
@@MuniTechnology you should check out some of their other engine rebuild videos. They're just as awesome.

You guys need to give your editor a damn raise, those time lapse shots are god-tier!
And loose the 🎶🎶!
Cuz dammm ... not necessary!

The restoration team deserves an award and the production and editing team deserves an Oscar, holy shi...!!!!

The restoration, the filming, the editing... Amazing work, simply stunning all around.
Growing up with a 72 Pantera at the house back in early 80s was so much fun with my Dad. This rebuild video is an oscar. Thank you.
I thought I was the only one who gets the timing 180 out. Thanks for keeping it real.
I think Davin does it in purpose. Seems to be his shtick in every start up.
It's a common mistake to make, I've done quite a few times.
Me too
50% of the time, every time!
Literally EVERYONE gets em 180 out. Me included hahaha

God bless you all for this video. Very impressive.
That engine idle is music to my ears! Brilliant work as always.

The tape unwrapping and the spark plug sequences are freaking amazing!! Hats off to the camera operator and editor
Haha I'm a video that just started making car videos with my buddy on our channel. I'm taking note of some of these camera shots!
Loved the tape unwrapping. It was my favorite video edit technique
Very cool, the studs and spark plugs moving along and the studs rotating but no hands! How?!

Loads of time and energy go into a short video like this. Thank you so much folks!
This is my first time I heard a 351 Cleveland sounds so great. I love it.
