Taryl your amazing at what you do. I have learned more from you in afew weeks of watching your videos than 4 years in mechanics classes in school..... Well i been out of school 20 years, mabe its my memory.... :-) .... Regardless your videos helpped me take a motor bought 7 years ago bran new out of the 1981 frame i put it in and put it into a alot newer Agco Allis frame. This motor has mabe 4-5 hrs worth of run time on it so i couldnt let it sit un used any longer, or mabe i was just tired of using a push mower, even tho its self propelled :-) , yes i would turn it over every few months so there was no seizing going on anywhere, i did have to clean the carb out and jets.... Thank you so very much Taryl, my new riding lawn tractor is all done and ready to go now. Without your help i would still be out there bitching and yelling......I mean working on it... Keep up the great work, Again, Thank you!!!!!
You know what I like mostly about your videos it ain't how to fix a lawn mower been doing that for years it's your garage I mean your shot your shop fascinates me I don't know why but it just fascinates the hell out of me I know it's took you years to get that stuff so it's fascinating to look around in there you should have a video on nothing but your shop one day
I would be using 100%synthetic Amsoil military spec.75-90 gear lub.Their stuff comes out of a laboratory, not out of the ground.I use it exclusively in everything I own and it DOES make a big difference Tayrl.I've noted my engines, gear boxes, diffs run about 20-30 degrees cooler using Amsoil products.
when the mower is new, replace the oil with grease from a grease gun and it will never leak out. We did this with the pearless gearboxes on the old walker mowers and reduced gearbox failures by about 90 percent.
good job Taryl, your knowhow has helped me so much. Keep up the good work as I' ll always be a loyal fan. love to come to one of the many events you attend.
April 2018 I drove 2 hours down to Albert Lea Minnesota to buy a complete not running Dixie Chopper Quad Loop 2002 for $100. It’s a 20hp 50” cut. The deck is extremely heavy and I think it’s even heavier than 60” Toro decks I’ve had. Two of the blades are on upside down. I’m hoping to get it running soon so I can work on my Toro 522xi.
This was one of my most hated repairs when i worked at a small engine shop, Would always be a mess and a total PITA.... I love Dixie Chopper mowers but damn... I even went to Dixie Chopper for service school and damn...
You mentioned the gearbox pulley was on upside down and somebody must have worked on it prior to you. I just replaced the hydro drive belt on my 2009 Classic 2760 and the hub on the pulley was on the bottom. I bought this new and nobody has ever removed that pulley so it was put on that way at the factory.
Thanks for the videos. They are very helpful. . I am trying to see the placement of the governor spring on a Generac GTV-760 (050582) engine that is on a Dixie Chopper zero turn mower. The spring came lose, and I'm unsure where it goes. Thanks.
I tend to use the hi tack on the side of the gasket the seals to the part that is easiest to clean next time. For example I glue the gaskets to the water pump (automotive). That way the next time the water pump needs replaced, the gasket typically comes right off the block. Also, when replacing a woodruff key, I found that tilting the key so it is slightly lower on the outside makes reassembly a little easier.
Just gotta say... Taryl, you've given me the confidence to totally rebuild my little Snapper classic. All I have left is the clutch. It mows and runs strong but if it even looks at a slope.. it stops and I have to give it a little push from the seat. Maybe you'll be able to do a vid on it. Let me know how hard or easy it is.
Can the top gasket for the Peerless T-Box be purchased separately? Just checked me fluid and it was fine but I destroyed the gasket. Thanks for the info.
You put high tack on the cover gasket so when you check it the gasket is going to tear when you take the cover off. Good video very informative thank you
put a little bit of motorkote in there its one oil supplement that works by keeping a layer of oil of the gears so if it runs out it wont destroy it immediately
I run 10W30 Super Tech Synthetic the engine starts easier and I am very happy with the oil all around. The oil is still good as new after a whole mowing season though I will change it before spring anyway. I cross referenced a Fram automotive oil filter that is designed for synthetic oil's against the Krohler part number. Works like a charm!
Hi Taryl love the videos..never had as much fun repairing mowers been doing it for years and can all ways depends on you for a good laugh and very useful info thanks a lot buddy.you should have thrown slippers out the window..lol..
My 2007 Dixie Chopper XG2503 has an issue going uphill with the left drive weakening. Seems to catch a little better when moving the lever back and forth. Already tried bleeding air from the system, and use Lucas 15W40 only. Only 300 hours on the machine. Any suggest help would be greatly appreciated???
Getting ready to redo mine today, I noticed that mower didnt have the origianal generac engine. Looks like its been repowered with a vanguard. good uprgrade! lol
Thank you Taryl for your videos. Love the way you explain all the little things to watch for when doing a job. Also, it’s nice to see work being done by someone who doesn’t wear those stupid looking sissy hand gloves. Everyone wants to look like there a surgeon or something. That’s what they make soap and water for. Keep those videos coming.
Taryl;Do you have the 4 bearings for the t-box or the part numbers need the 2 hydraulic pump outboard bearsings,2 pinion shaft bearings, gaskets and o-rings.dixie chopper 1992 xw 2303 60" deck.may I suggest espanding this video .remove pinion seal, snap rings, and bearings.thank you Sir.local dixie chopper does not list anything 10 years old and back.
Holy F c k!! You saved me a lot of money. I just opened the Gear Box on my 50 in. It was empty. Only a very little oil visible. How can we send you money? I would like to be able to ask questions when a situation arises. I hate Troubleshooting. Do you have a Tel. Number? Email? I would pay you when I need you.
I know this is stupid but at 9 minutes 17seconds your hand is beneath a screw/bolt type bar. This is what broke on my D.C. Z-turn (mower model 2348) and now RR wheel whines and moans and will not turn. For some damned reason I gotta say if anyone knows what this is it's gonna be you. Loved the video so now I'm a subscriber
My Pet Peeve is......they bring in stuff for repair, we rush to fix em quick, then call to pick it up and then it all sits there for weeks or months...RRRRRRRRR!
A guy brought me a tiller. I need it right away he says. I fixed it and told him. It sat for over a month before he picked it up . I was getting ready to sell it.
I'm 5 years late to this party but, better late that never. Peerless T and L gear boxes used to come with Bentonite grease. It's a clay based grease and never leaked out. Stayed sticky to the gears and bearings forever.
This is only a simple gear box, it needs lubricant, but it really wouldn't matter what is used, as long as it provides enough protection. The hydraulics are controlled by the pumps that are on both sides of this box, and don't use the oil that's in this box.
I got a question for you What would you recommend to clean out the gas tank on a Briggs and Stratton series 450 push mower it got a white Chrystal powder in it form sitting for a while with gas that dried up in it please let me know what I can use to clean it out cause I don't have a lot of money to get a new one thank you for reading this and keep the video's going there great
ADAM MOSHER I'm sure you have it going by now. If anyone needs to know, I've done it with nuts and bolts. Dump a handful in there and something liquid, whatever's handy. I used kerosine, about 1/2 a tank would be more than enough. Shake the hell out of it, drain it and check it. Should be good and clean. Might have to flush it or repeat the process a couple times. You can fish the nuts and bolts out with a magnet when done. I wouldn't get to violent with it either, you don't want a spark. The problem is, the carb. It's probably going to need to be worked over as well if the tank was dry and gunked up. I'd dare say it might be a seat/valve issue. It'll probably need gaskets to if it's been sitting to long.
you are the best teacher for fixing this stuff and you make it FUN" thank you" no showing us every turn of the screw
Best youtube channel on the interscreen !!!!
Taryl brings me joy every time I watch his videos. And man can he teach
Thanks Taryl you do a great job your videos are awesome I have learned so much and fixed much more than my capabilities l owe it all to you
Thanks Taryl for taking the time to help us all!

Just pour lucas in it at that point. That's what I do.
00 Grease in mine.
00 Grease in mine.
That last scene is exactly how I feel after working with some of my customers!
good job Taryl, your knowhow has helped me so much. Keep up the good work as I' ll always be a loyal fan. love to come to one of the many events you attend.
Thanks traryl love the show and has been very helpful and I hope you all have a great day God bless you all and your friend Rick

Taryl. Great video. Q: what is tube on T-Box cover? Mine attached to reservoir.
U are the man!! Thank you for all the helpful information you offer!!!!!

Good video Teryl. I've worked on a couple Dixie Choppers. I would never own one for my personal use...
Best show on U Tube !!!!!

Slippers is alive!!! Great repair video Taryl. That guys buddy must have installed that there pulley upside down...

Love your videos very informative and funny you are as mad as me!👍😎
Thanks for the info and the great comedy.
Keep up the great work..
Slippers came back from the dead!!! LOL.
How did you know the problem was in the hydraulic t-box up top and not in a wheel motor on one of the wheels?
Great fix Taryl like your style, good job!
On Buddies mower, was it the carburetor timing chain? I seen those carburetor timing chains fail a lot.
Can the top gasket for the Peerless T-Box be purchased separately? Just checked me fluid and it was fine but I destroyed the gasket. Thanks for the info.
You put high tack on the cover gasket so when you check it the gasket is going to tear when you take the cover off. Good video very informative thank you
Hey Mr. Dactyl, how come you put that High Tack on the cover when yer gonna haffa get that off to checkit?
Came to this channel to fix my Toro . Very informative and entertaining.
dang taryl. my shade tree still aint big nuff to do them fixins like you do
Lol looks like they cut a piece of hair off the wig and made a mustache 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This guy is the best ever!
Love your videos! I have a steiner 430 Max 3 cylinder kubota gas that won't start. I would love to bring it to you.

Hi I have a xf2700 dixie chopper. I want to change hydro fluid and filters. Do you have any info for that. Thanks
Fire it up, fire it up fire it up
put a little bit of motorkote in there its one oil supplement that works by keeping a layer of oil of the gears so if it runs out it wont destroy it immediately
Any recommendations on oil for a Kohler engines ? Thanks for your help . I have 3.5 hrs on the engine.
Hey I'm left handed too, that's why you're so smart!
i am also
Better hope the customer doesn’t see the end of this video
Best vid yet.
hey Taryl i just got done putting new seals on my tbox and filled it up and it foaming out the breather hose. did i over filled it?
That intro is brilliant..
That's a lot of work for someone just not paying attention / not checking fluids. And expensive too.
OH yeah. You know they just give those gear boxes away.
that is 97% of all problems with cars, trucks, mowers, wackers and all
Are all Dixie's like that with the tbox? Or just the older ones?
Scag uses Superior Gearbox with a drive shaft. They ain’t cheap when they go out. Good job Buddy!
where did you get the gear box. wondering if you can get them anywhere other than peerless
Hi Taryl love the videos..never had as much fun repairing mowers been doing it for years and can all ways depends on you for a good laugh and very useful info thanks a lot buddy.you should have thrown slippers out the window..lol..

Every shop is that way. And after you fix it they don't have the $$$ to buy it out. There's your dinner plate with nothing on it but bills.
Well buddy, if it didn't take my wife so long to insert her dentures weed bee there sooner, don't get your panties in a bind Buddy!
A guy brought me a tiller. I need it right away he says. I fixed it and told him. It sat for over a month before he picked it up . I was getting ready to sell it.

I think I would drill a hole in that top cover and thread it for a pipe plug.
Can you add cornhead grease or 00 grease to the box or will that negatively affect the hydraulics??
This is only a simple gear box, it needs lubricant, but it really wouldn't matter what is used, as long as it provides enough protection. The hydraulics are controlled by the pumps that are on both sides of this box, and don't use the oil that's in this box.
Always wondered how they work thats a big job but you got this
