If I'm not mistaken, in Europe you can have digital camera side mirrors as opposed to regular ones, and those "wings" are where the monitors for those cameras would go. There is one thing I think should have been talked about more in this video. I think the major benefit of the Ionic 6 is range. That body doesn't look as good as the 5's for sure, but has a better coefficent of drag (0.21 vs 0.28) and less weight. The 6 has a massive 361 miles of range in the longest range spec vs the Ionic 5's 303 miles or EV6 at 310 miles. That extra range could be the difference for a buyer being able to go to a requented distant location, or having to stop along the way, or even just having a much more comfortable buffer.

These are everywhere in Germany. I haven't driven one myself yet, because I am not really considering buying one as my next car, but it's still a very good looking car. I wasn't expecting Hyundais electric vehicles to become so good after most of their previous gas cars were either bland or just grotesque. I just looked up pricing for them, which seems to be quite competitive. The base model starts at 44.000€ in Germany, which is including VAT but not including any government grants. Even before government grants, the price is about the same as an Audi A4 with the base engine and some options (all of which are standard on the Ioniq 6). If you factor in the government grant for electric vehicles, you can buy this car for 38.000€ in Germany (including VAT!), which is very hard to beat.

Instead of designing a whole new car for the 6, Hyundai should’ve just shrank the original design of the Ionic 5 into a compact hatchback. That would’ve probably sold more and taken less R&D. What I dislike about the 5 is how fuckin massive it is. When it was first revealed, I thought it was gonna be a hot hatch EV

Sedans aren't dead: they're on life support now, but will have to make a comeback. Environmental targets and restrictions, plus any resource scarceness, will make the body shape a necessity at some point. When it comes to efficiency, an SUV shape is just about the dumbest thing you can do.

From the specs it looks like it should have between 1 and 2 inches more headroom in back if you don't have the sunroof. The styling reminds me of the Merkur XR4ti - at least the rear end.

I love this car. All the other brands are scared to go toe-to-toe with the Model 3 and instead want boxy, bland SUVs. Like Doug mentioned, people say sedans are dead. But last I checked, the roads are littered with Model 3s. Very big fan of the teardrop, Porsche-like rear.

If history is any indication, Kia/Huyndai products do not age well from the design perspective.
I've realised this a few years ago when the previous gen Sportage started looking funny and much cheaper than when it came out.
Then the odd Tucson was released and I thought to myself - "wow this looks very unusual! It probably won't age well".
And I think I was right, it does look very stupid after a couple of years.
Same story here, Ioniq 5 and 6 already look less cool than a year ago.
Also, Kia/Huyndai tend to mimic other iconic cars - Ioniq 6 tries to be Porsche, and it all looks funny and weird.
There's no continuity with their designs, no proper culture, no logic behind models. New generations of models look nothing like predecessors. Ioniq 6 has no connection to Ioniq 5, even though they are both part of a current line up. As if different brands produced them, this is ridiculous.
These are just a few reasons Kia/Huyndai will never be like European cars with real pedigree.
